Seriously, why do we need any of them to triumph? Let's forget the proprietary lock-in aspect of these technologies, let's consider that they make your page much less accessible and platform dependent (platform dependency on a web page sounds so awkward or bizare to me, really, who would want such a thing?) The fact that they screw people with disabilities, is another problem, but let's forget of all those, and remember that such pages would be slugish, please. Let's forget about this idea, it was pretty bad to begin with!
Yeah, we should try to mention other irrelevant things about apple that don't change the fact their patents are preventing standardization, for example, they have added transparent stuff to Leopard! Yay!
Many users buy music from the iTunes store and rely on DRM removal to be able to play the content on their mobile phones. Apple may be on dangerous ground here, since those users might now start checking out competing services."
Yeah all 50 of them!
Sorry, I hate DRM as much as anyone with common sense, but this is not going to hurt apple's monopolic music store
if governments or other people with millions of dollars can listen to your conversations right now, why shouldn't your next-door neighbor?
I mean really, I am only worried about the government and people with millions of dollars being able to listen my conversations, the next-door neighbor is not as scary as them. I am not sure why they place the neighbor as the worst case scenario of privacy lost...
Promise not to sue (which may be broken any day) => not GPL compatibility.
So, nothing important, this is the same old Microsoft, they probably mean "pseudo open source" developers, those who are silly enough to use Microsoft's "Open source" licenses. No gift for those evil guys who use the GPL...
Don't believe the hype. Don't believe the FUD. There are real reasons to complain about M$. This isn't one of them.
Hell yes it is. In fact, if there is a reason to complain about MS, optionally-open XML IS! In fact, you have not credibility left for saying the non sense you've just said.
For starters, MS' "promise not to sue" is in no part friendly with the GPL (now that you mention it) And the mere fact that you need MS' to decide not to sue you for implementing their "open" standard is quite ridiculous (really...) What on earth prevents MS to suddenly decide to stop the promise?
If I understand it these are just rumors and the images are all invented and not from alienware itself, in fact it looks like it is more of a CNP of the alien ware case to look like a cell phone...
heck, the year windows detects my hardware without me having to keep all my CDs or at least the year I wouldn't have to use the recovery console every once in three months, will be the year on windows on the desktop.
Sorry, I couldn't resist.

Meh, it is not illegal to have secrets.

I would tag it "wtfissap" .

1. Yahoo stockholders sue yahoo.
2. Microsoft buys yahoo stocks.
3. Yahoo stock goes up.
4. Desperate stockholders sell
5. Yahoo stock plummets.
6. Microsoft loses millions in stocks.
7. ????
8. Profit!
Yeah, I agree. That site's design pretty much rocks.
"Hopefully"

But if a professional artist is used to photoshop's features, these are great news, isn't it?
And it is just a promise, so even if you are not GPLed you'll live under the "will Microsoft break the promise tomorrow when I wake up"?
Has any one read recently that "Evangelism is war" thing? I just hope students aren't retarded enough to fall on these market drugs.
I agree with the opera dudes, avoiding users to find out about the browser's security issues is their business model after all...
So, slashdot was running out of Linux articles and so decided to post an article containing what's mostly a wrong, "oversaid" cliche as news. Great!

Always so friendly towards unnovation , I am proud of the patent system!
Not really.

The similarities between Jack Thompson and a dictatorial government keep rising.
