All this proves is that scientists so far lack the capability to measure what constitutes "free will" or "souls" or "spirit".
Any person of a mystical persuasion can tell you that there are other planes of existence that we have trouble measuring, but they impact ours. It is very hard for me to discount all religion and mysticism throughout history just because a modern-day scientist lacks the tools to measure it.
It really is quite a startling assumption to believe that you have measured everything in all dimensions, thereby pronouncing that the electrons measurable in this dimension must somehow be responsible for the free will that we (appear?) to see.
Actually, the 2600/VCS, while difficult to program by today's standards, was actually EASY to program by the standards of the day.
It was the first system with player/missile graphics (sprites), easy 2-channel sound effects built in rather than having to code it all by hand and different sized self-repeating map tiles.
Compared to other systems of the day, it was a breeze to code for. And then things got really interesting when people discovered the easy rainbow effects possible wtih display list interrupts.
Obviously, it couldn't have been that hard to program for given the 10000+ (9800+ crappy) games made for it.
I don't know whether to mod the parent or reply, but I second this sentiment wholeheartedly.
I am running one as a replacement for my 2003 server/domain controller at my house and also as a Vista-like workstation and game machine. I absolutely love it!
It's just like Vista except for no UAC, no DRM and no annoying slowdowns. In other words, it's everything that Vista should have been, and this is running on only $500 worth of hardware (quad 6600, 4GB RAM).
The 64-bit Vista drivers were a bit difficult to find because my motherboard "doesn't support" Server 2008, but after crossing that hurdle (loading the network driver from a different motherboard with the same chipset because Asus locks out 2008), it's been the best computer I have ever owned.
And then is it really piracy if everywhere that they KJ has already paid for a music performance license?
I mean, the license has already been paid. Who cares how they got the licensed music?
See, when the labels don't get it both ways it somehow seems wrong to you. Maybe you've been brainwashed.
Actually, I'm pretty sure that recent archaeology has, once again, proved the scriptures true in this area (regarding the Darius/Cyrus relationship, if Gubaru is, in fact, another name for Darius who was a regent ruling in place for Cyrus, making neither of them before or after the other).
Of course, I don't know if this is true since you didn't list any examples of what you are talking about.
I am no longer the helpdesk punching bag at family gatherings. I keep four different build/configs on a thumb drive. You can pick up chicks with a ten-minute Ubuntu demo.
You're picking up chicks at a family gathering? Ewwww.
Actually, almost all of the stations have been full power for quite some time now. They aren't on the same frequency, the digital stations are on an unrelated UHF station (like, channel 2 isn't on 2 it's on 64).
This allows them to free up the 2-13 band for emergency services.
I am running Windows "Workstation" 2008 and I can tell you that it is amazing. So much better than Vista. No 12-20% CPU tax from the MAFIAA. And running as Admin, I have NEVER been asked for a prompt for anything nor have I ever seen anything like a UAC prompt.
I'll probably get flamed for this, but the last time I went through Orange County, the TSA agents were actually really nice!
They smiled. They were polite. They seemed to be serious about their job without being jerks to the passengers. Someone left their expensive camera behind at the security checkpoint and an agent chased them down to give it back to them.
I have had the other experience, but I just wanted to give them props that were due.
The story goes that when Vlad the Impaler (Vlad Dracul) was ruler of Transylvania, that he accidentally left a gold necklace on a rock when he stopped for a drink in the river. The necklace was still there years later, because everyone was afraid to touch it.
A friend of mine was from Afghanistan and said that before the war with Russia, if you stole, you lost your hand. He said that in those days you could leave a bag of gold coins on the front seat of your car with the window rolled down and the door unlocked and nobody would take them.
He agreed that the cutting off the hand thing sounds harsh, but they only did it less than 8 times a year in the whole country. Everyone else was afraid to steal.
We had one brand of floppies that were completely unfinished on the back and wouldn't hold data. But most of them, including very cheap brands, worked just fine.
And you didn't use a hole punch? That's what all the cool kids were doing...

Pinky: What do you want to do tonight, Brain?
Brain: The same thing we do every night, Pinky. Half-way take over the world!
This is pretty much exactly what DirecTV has done with their new receiver cards.
I still know a couple people getting around them, but they spend 10+ hours a week doing it, which is more than it costs even at minimum wage.
Yeah, and since there are only 210 countries in the world, that will work great!

Well, then you must love to read that AT&T is the only company that I will never deal with again as long as I live. I would die first.
Nope, it's not just you having problems with AT&T.
I had such horrible problems with AT&T that I will never give them another dime as long as I live.
Vonage is great, BTW!
Yeah, but does it run Ubuntu?

You might try keeping a log of what you eat. You may be allergic to Nutrasweet or soy or something. It all depends on what year you were 13.
It means:
LOAD the Print Cartridge with LETTER sized paper
Turn in your geek card.

And, now that I mention it, the article featured in this story is very weak on facts as well.
That's a wide series of claims, but where's the evidence?
The religious right is not against hard science.
The religious right is against millions-of-years-ago storytelling that masquerades as hard science. As we all should be.
The evidence behind most of the claims in the average high school science book is very poor, but students are given interpretation instead of facts.
And as soon as Monster gets done suing mini-golf courses, they'll be providing one for only $159.99.
There wasn't.

Before anybody runs to diet products because they shouldn't have sugar: There's plenty of anecdotal evidence...
No, see it's like putting the meat-like product back in the...well, you see, it's a verb that means the process of canning, and, uh,
Cue Mark Hamill as the Joker: "If you have to explain a joke, it's not funny!"

They're not done price fixing yet...
I kid, I kid...
