    I went for almost a year on a Brother with the shake and print method. I had a replacement under the desk the whole time.

    Exactly. I used to use Android Pay a lot until CurrentC killed it in a lot of places.

    Now it's just not worth the hassle to decide whether this store has been infected by the CurrentC virus.

    Because the newest Linux kernel generally supports 10+ year old machines well.

    No. See, wireless companies actually have this thing called COMPETITION, so they can't sit around on their lazy butts and do nothing. T-Mobile in particular has been great at competing.

    Cable companies have this thing called MONOPOLY. This is where you get to sit around on your lazy butt, do nothing and then make up bogus new fees and charges every month for nothing because nobody can leave anyway.

  21. Actually, Windows costs OEMs around $59 and they make more than that on shovelware, so the OS is a money maker for them. If they want to have FreeDOS or Ubuntu, they actually have to charge MORE sometimes.

    At several companies, I've been the fastest programmer. When I leave, I always get replaced by 3-5 people. Do I get paid 3-5x as much? No.

    But the REASON I am so fast is that I actually THINK before I code. Sometimes I spend a whole day on design. Then I write really short, compact code that is easy to read and maintain and runs very fast and has few bugs.

    But do you think they appreciate the fact that "it doesn't look like I'm working" when I think? No. I'm clearly the "slacker" that needs to be talked to, even though production (# of stories closed, etc.) says otherwise.

    Same deal everywhere I work.
