Sales figures said Vista was doing great as well. Since all new machines are required to come with Windows 8 and not Windows 7, what did you expect the sales figures to say? That's why people put far more stock in web hits when it comes to market share, since those will show when people overwrote what they "bought" with Windows 7 or Linux.

And the best games are typically built on top of someone else's engine. Look at Arkham City, said by many to be the best game of all time. They used off the shelf engines for the 3D world, sound, even physics. But they added a great writer, great voice actors and a ton of cool-looking fighting moves and an open world and made it a truly great game. None of the things that differentiated Arkham City required diff eq. If you love that stuff, great. There's a (high-paying) job for you. If not, suffer through and then come and join us (in a slightly-lower but still high-paying job). You know, the people that haven't used Calculus once since university.

I disagree. I know a lot of people that use tablets to browse web and e-mail and access Facebook, Twitter and YouTube. A house that needed 4 PCs before for a family of four (2 parents, 2 teenagers) now only needs 1 or 2 PCs and 4 tablets. That's a 50%-75% reduction in the number of needed PCs.

The only problem with Wii U is that there is only one A+ title and that's Super Mario. Nintendo hasn't put Mario Kart, Mario Galaxy, Smash Bros., Yoshi, Zelda, Metroid, Mega Man, Contra or any other of their "standard" franchises on it yet (I realize that some of these are from partners, but start pressuring them). It's a fine console with no games.

As someone who grew up with Imperial, I also think it's weird. Dry ounces and wet ounces. Dumb. Land miles is different than nautical miles. Stupid.

But I like writing 20,000 feet instead of switching to something else. Do you spend kiloEuros?

Wood could be 50x100. It would be even better if it actually WERE 50x100 instead of 48x96.

Fahrenheit is way better for weather. You'll never convince me there. 0 is painfully cold and 100 is painfully hot.

Inches are better than centimeters for measuring normal stuff. Millimeters and centimeters are too small for most things and meters are too large. Kilometers vs miles really doesn't matter much, except for the US standard speed of 60 mph making time calculations easier. So in distance, I actually prefer Imperial units.
