But place it on top in full view. SOMEONE will pick it up, and think that it is a deal.

This sort of problem has been around for years (Decades). One friend of mine would purchase some of those cheap, crappy printers on sale, then when it ran out of ink, he would swap it out for another disposable printer.

One thing I tell everyone who goes printer shopping is to look at BOTH the price of the printer AND the ink. That way they do not get stuck with buying really expensive ink.

One computer shop I worked in had a "Smokers fee" if the computer was owned by a smoker, and the computer smelled like smoke, or was filed with ash, we would add an extra $40.00 Smoker fee to the computer. We would have to wear gloves because of the nasty coating of smoker gunk on EVERYTHING. We had some smokers try to void the fee by cleaning the outside of their computer, but the moment we opened it and smelled the evidence of smoke, we would call the customer and inform them that we would have to add a smoker fee if we were to continue working on the computer.
The smokers gunk that coats everything can cause cooling fans to fail, prevent heatsinks from giving off heat, and prevent PCI and other slots from accepting cards!
And that shop would void a warranty if we could prove that the SMOKE is what caused the computer to fail. That is the same as flood or water damage.
However we did have an entry in our warranty about smokers. The smokers fee was clearly listed on the wall with the other service charges.

We also had a the option to refuse to service any computer if it was a biohazzard. And we had more than one computer come in with a dead animal rotting inside. We would open the case, see dead rotting flesh, close case and wrap it in garbage bags. Then we would call the customer and inform then we could not service their machine because of a dead animal inside. We also put a sticker on the inside body panel we removed as a warning that we have refused to service this machine before because of a biohazzard, and we would flag their name in the computer, so that we would check all incoming machines from that person for biohazzards or the sticker.

Great! Then I can't wait for you to create your own URL Shortening service, and show them ALL how to do it correctly!

Some things you are forgetting about is...

Bandwidth. If you have thousands or millions of hits a month, even if they consume a tiny amount of bandwidth, adds up to ALOT.

CPU load, Every hit will also consume CPU resources as you site looks up the proper URL for the short URL it received...

Most shared hosting providers frown on one person consuming alot of the resources of a shared server.

So you have to add in the cost of dedicated server... And well you can see it grow from there...

However feel free to prove me and everyone else wrong by spending a few hundred dollars and have a URL shortening service that lasts a decade!

That way if I want it to be easy, I choose Easy, but the game will adapt if I am doing really well, or really poor. However if I I am a fantastic gamer, and I choose hard or expert, then the game adapting to that would be a good way to keep expert gamers engaged.

Personally I feel that if I paid for it, I should be allowed to do what I want with it.
However I can see where modding for prof fit could be a grey area... If I mod Wii's to play any disk, than that is making it easier for people to play illegally copied games...
