but wat is stopping you from running all that in a virtual pc box? (the universal binary of Q is actually quite speedy). I understand this does not work for games (it is slower), but for the others?
furthermore I fear this could become another reason not to develop games and other software for the mac. "Just install windows" as step 1 for the install on mac. That is FUCKING not why I bought a MAC.
On a personal note, I would award more geekpoints to someone making a (or monifying an existing) fast virtual machine emulator that allows quick access to the videocard.
Yes that's true. I mean none of us had a PC before we got an internet connection did we? NOoo....
And our first computers where way more powerfull than this 100$ piece of shit. I mean my C64 would blow this out of the water performance wise...
*sigh* the above is sarcasm *sigh*
Does anyone even know that these thing form ad hoc networks? Has any of you worked in a developing country? We used to hand out old magazines to the pupils and they would write on any blank space they could find.
These PCs worthless... I don't think so.
Whatever, Negroponte has proven to be a brilliant mind (not a brilliant crook like Gates) and my money is on the fact that he is right.
Yes, that's right any technological advantage the US has is so good only a collaboration of more or less the entire (civilised) world could beat them.
Exactly what we have seen in the car industry too. The best (and definitely) most succesful cars in the world are designed and built in the US by US companies. Oh, wait... they're not, which means other (individual) countries can (and will if needed) out-design and outproduce the US. And don't give me that "we are the biggest economy in the world" bullshit either. If you take the EU their GDP is already larger than that of the US.
The trust the rest of the world has in the US has been constantly shrinking (thanks to George "the dicator" Bush), and hence the willingness to rely on the US for anything remotely vital is continuously decreasing. And that is a good thing.
The US is still the strongest kid on the courtyard, but they lost the trust of the other kids, which was actually their main asset (as an albeit imperfect example of a free world). Any empire is bound to fail sooner or later.
I guess it takes one to know one huh?:-) (** please this is no flamewar, just a joke ok? **)
I have to admit that I have been becoming quite biased towards apple over the last couple of months. I gave my gf an iBook for her birthday this summer, played around with it and am currently waiting for my own iMac.
Are they perfect systems? Hell no... But they are GOOD tools to get a job done if one is to busy to tinker with computers all the time. God knows I miss the time when all I had to do is work on my PC, just for the sake of working on it, but right now I work that needs to be done to and so does my gf.
Will it be in Vista? Well that's the "promess" (GRAMMAR NAZIS BEWARE pun was intentional) MS has made. We all know they would never postpone features in an OS or the OS alltogether.
Customer: "When will I have real security?" MS: "Longhorn" Customer: "and sane resource allocation and os-overhead?" MS: "Longhorn" Customer: (getting the hang of this) "portable fusion reactors, cheap antigravity and warp-drives?" MS: "Longhorn" Customer: "When is Longhorn coming" MS: "It won't it's called Vista now" Customer: "But it's the same as longhorn" MS: "Of course, exactly the same, except for a few features that will later be released as service packs..."...sigh...
Sometimes Mac OS X remindes me of the old neo-geo slogan: "The future is now!"
Is someone at SONY some highly cynical form of humor to defend his/her position AGAINST DRM, or is this just plain stupidity slowly turning into the worst PR nightmare ever to hit the japanese giant?
Whatever it is I love it!
On second thought this might also just prove that a LOT of commercial software illegaly contains (L)GPLed code illegaly and just the ones that (due to extensive media attention) get scrutinised al lot, end up getting caught.
Agreed, but in my experience the biggest limiter on 0S X "snappyness" is the amount of available ram. Upgrading your 256 MB to 512 (or 1 GB) should make it fly. (It did for mine!)
Funny thing is, with this kind of device tinfoil hats will actually improve "the black suits" reception, since tinfoil easily vibrates and reflects radiowaves really well.
I don't know... maybe it is because trucks actually add value to the economy. I fail to see the public intrest in you driving around in a huge car when a normal one will do just as nicely (for most people that should read a "small car", but I am giving you the benefit of the doubt here).
how inforacable these terms are in Belgium (and some other European countries) where your privacy is protected by law, and companies are forced to let you inspect, modify or delete any personal data (even your name is considered private data) from their database upon simple request.
Jeez,... thinking that corporate controlled US are trying to force their "self-regulating" bussiness privacy policy upon Europe, one starts to wonder if the US citizen really want this, and if they don't who gives a fuck about their opinions. Democracy,...? Nah, Corporacy!

Sorry, you had something good going.

J

Indeed, and without copyright how many copies is he going to sell anyway?

Does this mean by your definition that trees are not alive since they do not move?
J.
Actually in some countries (most of the EU AFAIK) copy protected CD cannot be sold as CDs and have to carry a warning.
A lot of people stopped buying them since they often do not work in car CDplayers (generally those that also play MP3 CDs)

Do you enter your pin number on an ATM machine while looking at the LCD display?
Could be dutch too... :P

Why is it that when the US get beaten to the punch for anything they start whining?
feeling insecure?

Uhm,... I drink chocolate milk with vodka all the time. It tastes great (a bit like Baileys really)and I've never been sick by doing so.
Are you sure you know anything about drinking?
J.
since the CD does not comply with the RedBook standard, it can not be labeled an audioCD and can thus not be sold as such...
Secondly how much time do you think it'll take before the CDROM manufacturers start producing drives that can read them?
*sigh* This is hust plain pathetic.
...but in fact a Kg is 2.2 pounds!
