Me too... but if the gameplay is bad, i can only tolerate playing through the game once if has a GOOD story (and sometimes even getting through once is trying)
...just maybe Lisa was somewhat unstable to BEGIN with? Maybe this is an isolated incident, but psychological profiles should be taken with greater care before extended missions IMNSHO.
No shit.... when I run Ubuntu, my idea was to have a mostly freely maintainable system with as little to do with Windows as possible and that I can install without fear of licensing keys and having WGA issues (not that I don't use Windows, i do - XP also runs just fine for me, it is more of a PITA to install IMNSHO). *Sometimes* you need a few extras that aren't free or open-source and I find that upholding this OSS-only front, keeping to "principles" (whatever "principles" these people are trying to exemplify) and denying yourself certain things that run well even on free/oss operating systems is a bit retarded. I go for what works, $$ or not. However, that's me... some people find those principles important I guess.
I would argue NONE of the consoles are next-gen. It's kinda like the "tomorrow's a day away" saying.... once the next-gen console becomes a reality and on the market, it is NOW current-gen, it's predecessor is last-gen.
Yeah, but Firefox is a little pudgy and not so fast... while it may have saved your baby from a fire... it probably won't do it nearly as fast as Fox-It
Cingular will sell the iPhone for "full" price, and give you some sort of rebate for contract of service, would be my first guess on how they handle it.
i think dropping the penny in itself is a good start, not having to mint just that particular currency anymore might save the govt. a non-insignificant amount of $$. Just round all amounts at retail to the next 5 cent increment.
Interesting, for some bizarre reason i thought the inch size of the wide creens were measured at point where 4:3 ratio would fit, the widescreen would indicate it was about the same height as a the equivalent 4:3 but wider to look at. Of course, it was silly of me to assume that all this time. But i guess a upper 30" widescreen system equate to an upper 20" 4:3 system. Knowing that now, I'm not shelling out the bucks for the equivalent upper 30" system. Not now, at least.
I personally do not mind HD or widescreen. I'm just boggled by people who buy 30-35 inch systems and up. (well, I can see 30 inch maybe.....)
I have seen small 22-24 inch LCD TVs that run WAY cheaper ($400 maybe? give or take), just harder to find than the big-ones, oddly enough. Either way, still more expensive than a CRT TV.
The Nintendo technology issue does exist, but in a different form. Instead of manufacturing a powerful new processor into a complicated system causing the bottleneck, it may have been creating a very small form-factor, tightly integrated system that uses low-power effectively, in addition to the manufacturing of the wii-remote and nunchuk attachment, which, not completely new, still new enough to the consumer and more than likely have never been manufactured in such large quantities. Also, they MAY have smaller manufacturing facility causing the bottleneck (dunno); there MAY have been a bit of a manufacturing flub up that that had to restart a time or two (dunno). Either way, 3+ million is still pretty good for a new set-top console in a couple months, but, indeed, they didn't make 4 mil target, that's for sure. So, hey, lets split more hairs!!
I don't think it is so much the cost of materials, but the logistics and time to manufacture in general. even if your bill of materials is relatively inexpensive, that may or may not correlate to time to produce a unit, package, then ship to a regional distributor, then to a retail outlet, etc...
3+ million consoles in ~2 months = not too bad. A couple more months to get the approximately same amount out (maybe a little less) sounds like a good bet.
You see I have been married twice (still married, but that is in a legal sense). While my first wife an I had a nasty divorce, I get along fabulously (for the most part) with my current wife. However, when I want to be left alone, I want to be left along, as in, I want the whole place to myself, I don't want to share it with anyone, nor do I want to worry about other people messing with my stuff (which kids, and other adults do. i don't have a LOT of stuff, but what I do have, I don't want it messed with). Unfortunately, computer or not, this urge to be left alone happens more often than not.
I was kind of trying to be funny, but, in reality, it more of a true statement of myself that people could take in a funny way.
We have a ritual: We get out the trucks and let the new folks run down the almost-ready-to-retirees. Makes the day go a whole lot better, and we save money!
Either way, I believe it. Personally, I have no idea why I live with other people anymore, less have any actual serious relationships. However, while I use a computer a LOT (over 65% easily... part of the job), even at times when I am not on the PC much, I still have the same attitude, so it may be that I'm just an asshole.:)
Indeed, remember Nintendo's stance with game production for the NES? They had practically a stranglehold on that industry... eventually Nintendo fell from grace and was replaced by Sony, over time, did similar, albeit, not as sinister as Nintendo in the NES days, but enough that they got too cocky and are now slowly falling from grace.
You get one console, that particular console manufacturer gets a monopolistic attitude about keeping that one console financially on top. One day, they push consumers far enough, that some other enterprising addition to the console industry walks in shakes up the playing field quite successfully.
Will we see *effectively* one console someday? I'm sure - I bet that won't last long, however.
Me too... but if the gameplay is bad, i can only tolerate playing through the game once if has a GOOD story (and sometimes even getting through once is trying)
I never said they DIDN'T - i said that more CARE may need to be taken on top of what they already do

wait... what... murder is BAD? *hides bodies*

anyone with teeth would destroy you.... you do realize this?

Fox-It is a wonderful PDF reader... slim on resources, and loads very fast!

Ahh, good point! I didn't think of that when I was thinking about PDAs.
Do they make advanced graphing-calculator-like apps for them?
You think burners will be anywhere in the same price range as players in just a year??
Well, that goes to show how much I really know about HDTV... that is, not much at all! :)

Really?
*scribbles out "Get in through AIR VENT*
*jots down, "trying entering through a loose floor tile"*
yes... no one would ever do that!
