10 years ago i would have picked up a creative sound card solution without a second thought. they quality was greater then, there were no on-mobo solutions yet, and the competitions was either 1) crappy OR 2) over priced. Jump about 5 years later, on-mobo sound is in it's early years, but it is so crappy that even a low end SBLive was infinitely better now.
Jump to today: Audigy cards are overpriced bloatware with cheap hardware components in them. Each new Audgy "revision" adds more useless features. The only way I would pay the prices they want for their recent sound cards if that they were decent for semi-pro use, which, unfortunately they aren't. That and on-mobo sound systems work, for the most part, pretty damn decently these days (esp. for basic audio playback). The only reason I would want any external or PCI-card based solution is to get some real clean inputs for vocal recording or other sound inputs, and for that, there are better solutions than creative.
Ok.. Ok... E-Mu has good inputs on them and is a "Creative-owned" brand. Honestly, tho, if Creative went under, could E-Mu just move somewhere else?
Also, at least in the US, they suck as an employer. Not because of the environemtn, their web-dev/customer-service facility in Stillwater, OK was a FUN place to work at - the corporate disparacy (and IT struggles) between the OK and CA offices were enough to make your head spin, and their compensation is HORRIBLE (Java devs with 2-3 years of experience getting maybe 30-32K???? Even with the small amount of experience they shoul dbe getting 40-50 in OK)
Control of an FPS with mouse and keyboard is generally a bit easier and exact than using a console controller. The fear is that the PC players will have an advantage because of better controls. In FFXI, this is not an issue.
Exactly... i used Cricket years ago to replace a landline, but now I need service when I go out of town, and more than one line (3 to be exact - for the different people in the house). While Cricket can go out-of-area-now, once you use their "anywhere" plan and add a couple lines to it, you are not saving much more than any other service.
Fallout 1 (2 also, but 1 has a better plout - 2 has more game time), Ultima (up to 6), Planescape: Torment, Balder's Gate 1+2, KOTOR 1 (*not* 2, sorry), yes, even Jade Empire, plus others I am sure also (but I can't think of right now:( )
True, some of these games have their own set of problems; however, in my opinion, certainly *not* any of the ones the FFXII suffers from
This may be true... still, shouldn't we (i.e. the USofA) still butt out? Your country is aware of the issues, and Canada seems to take care of itself fine (from my viewpoint).
This form of speed detection is called pacing.... i don't think all states do it (not 100% sure on that).
However, IMHO, that should be the only time they speed without having their lights on. Of course, everyone else in the world seems to speed a bit also. A cop one told me they usually try to match the speed of the traffic they are in also... if everyone is speeding, you can't catch them all, so might as well not be a bottleneck to the surrounding traffic.
Me neither, I hit all sorts of store around the Tulsa area, usually picking up software or small bits of hardware, many a time a sale at a major retailer (Best Buy, Comp USA, Circuit City, etc...) and when I am there I stroll by the console gaming section.... plenty of Wii games, not a single console in sight. Neither at Wal-Mart... or at Target... or at the game stores....
I am in no hurry for a Wii though. I think it will be a lot more fun when a more variety of games are available, which I think is inevitable. When that happens, and I can actually find one in a store in a 100 miles radius (yeah the couple of times I was in Oklahoma City... yup, nothing) without waking at the crack of dawn to get the first of a new shipment, I'll pick one up.
I don't care if the company gave them to you or not. When you are ready to be uninterrupted, turn it off... and your cell phone. Esp. on weekend I do not want to be bugged, I check messages once in the afternoon before and after heading out to do "my stuff" for the day. I get chained enough with extra contract work from time-to-time... when it's down time, it's down time. Your corporate assigned blackberries, PDAs, laptops, pages, and other gizmos will not make me respond any faster. (Exception: pager when you are officially to be "on-call" for a very *specified* period of time - except I am rarely on-call ever, but some people are on a regular basis)
You had me until "The reality is modern music sucks, so does most of the content they are trying to protect."
That is a very SUBJECTIVE opinion. There is a good deal of modern music that is, in my opinion, good... and a good deal of "yesteryear" music that, again - in my opinion, really blows

finally, someone please mod parent up?

"...you still only have power, DVI, USB, and Ethernet to hook up..."
I have a Windows-based PC... and that's all *I* hook up, I mean... what else is there (besides non-standard peripherals)?

says YOU, i almost broke my mouth trying to say AJCWX
i think that was SARCASM
Crisis on Infinite Earths
followed up by "Zero Hour" and "Infinite Crisis"
Give it a couple more decades and we will also probably get:
* Infinite Zero Hour * Zero Crisis Infinity * Earth Hour Zero * Crisis on Zero Earths
AJAX is not "asynchronous JavaScript combined with XML" - 'cause, then, that would be AJCWX, and that is totally unpronounceable. ;)
anyways... Mars has a thinner atmosphere... probably even MORE susceptible to asteroid impacts

I can't even do an "oblig"!!! The article title already did :(
hell, even magic candle 1 was an interesting game... i was amazed how much was slammed in a few disks for the C64 version also
OK, maybe the parent WAS O.T. - but, it is kinda funny :)
It gives you 30 lives already... an extra one is just being greedy!
OMG
Don't you dare talk about nintendo in a bad way or you will go to hell!
yes, and they will be the first to perish!

They better be shipping a WHOLE new computer with that for an 80 Euro shipping charge
SO... if I get a FREE copy, i don't have to upgrade ANYTHING!!? WINNAR :)

and the PS2 still retails for $129
