No they would not. People are sheep, all they see is this cool thing, and they want it and want it now, don't care how it works, why it works, consequences or whatever. It is this reason - thees people, why the "Our Government of Corpocracy" are successfully and slowly eroding our privacy, our rights, and our freedoms.
They say if you put a frog in boiling water, it will jump out. But if you put him in water and slowly raise the temperature, it will slowly cook itself... We are the frogs!
When I told a friend of mine about ISP's monitoring your traffic, he said. "Oh well". I then asked him if I could get on his WLAN and monitor his traffic, (which is wide open by the way) and he said sure. ok that does not bother me do whatever you want. Baaaaaa! Sheep!
They are convinced that PC's laptops and desktops, won't be around long in the consumer market, so why bother placating to that crowd. Perhaps they feel if the do this crap it will hurry the demise of the PC and won't have to worry about that platform. They are shooting themselves in the foot.
"I'm sorry, but do USA copyrigth laws cover every country on the planet? No, they do not"
For now, but our pressure will cause every country to cave. Just a matter of time. We wont learn to deal with anything, they will learn that you can't win when the US entertainment industry wants something. If they can control our government, they will control yours too.
See when you don't pirate, pay lots of money for games and hardware, do everything you are told like a good little boy. You get rewarded with beautiful ads. Isn't it so much better when you follow the rules?
And it's legal! Humm, do I listen to the wishes of the people that merely voted for me, or do I placate to the whims and wishes of my 'friends' that gave me millions in "campaign funding".. Boy that's a tough one...
"that's all you see. what do they see?"
They see exactly when your consumption goes up and down, and the kind of power use (reactive and real) and it is logged over time.
My Gosh my grow room is in jeopardy! Then can tell by the power patterns..
They do a good job of it in China. Just a matter of time when it happens here. The next logical step for them is to make encryption illegal. We will be well on our way to the internet being a one way form of communication, just like TV.
"Worsening user interfaces seems to be the big trend these days. "
That's because more and more dumb-asses are using computers and gizmos, and the industry needs to placate to the lower IQ's, leaving us smart tech people squirming with contempt.. And since dumb-asses don't want to learn anything, (it's against their morals) software and hardware makers must sink to their level.
Most electrical systems will only work on the frequency they are designed for except perhaps a switching power supply because its rectified and filtered anyhow. However for an ac induction motor even a 1Hz difference will cause them to overheat. In fact your power does not even drift much more than +/-.2 Hz and the entire grid is in sync.
It's not that simple because Japan has the additional problem that some of the country uses 60Hz like here in the us and some places use 50Hz like in europe.
Wen I joined a software company several years ago they made it very clear both in writing and verbally that anyone caught talking about their salary will be fired on the spot..

I think their track record in the tablet/mobile market speaks for itself. I don't think they have what it takes.

Why does the UK government bend like a reed in the wind when we tell you what to do?

Warrants? We don't need no stinking warrants..
"If they don't think so, they're free to elect someone else,"
Who will do the same thing.. All someone has to do is dangle $$$ in front of them.
Voting is the biggest fantasy our government has got us to believe in.
The game is rigged, folks. Time to toss the entire chess board..
And it's legal!
Humm, do I listen to the wishes of the people that merely voted for me, or do I placate to the whims and wishes of my 'friends' that gave me millions in "campaign funding".. Boy that's a tough one...
Yes it is. Welcome to my walled garden. Pretty, don't you think?
In the future if you own a 'PC' or any other general purpose open computer system, you will be labeled a terrorist or pedophile or a thief..

Open trashcan.
Throw in router.
Then the compress the shit out of it so there is no dynamic range left. So a whisper is as loud as a gong..

Would be prudent to have a inertial navigation system to fall back on when its determined the gps data is junk, just like on the big jets...

FTP as well." O my gosh it copies files from one computer to another!!!!!!! This is BAD!!"
I tried to explain it to a friend (a digital neophyte) and he said.. "Well they got to make money too...."
I explained it to my 84 year old father and he said "Hail Hitler!"
He got it..

Don't forget to be sure your isp does not block port 80. As mine does.. So nice of them. There are ways around it however..
I said here recently the Internet will be unrecognizable in ten years from what it is now.
I was wrong.
I'll give it five..
