If you're looking to the NY Times (online) as an accurate depiction of "history," then I'm not sure that what you're really after is "truth" (see Jason Blair)). Besides, I'm sure you could find it in microfische in the public library. But you might have to, you know, GO there.
As to the rest of your post: huh? Am i feeding the trolls?
Yeah dude, i don't have anything to add to this conversation that hasn't already been said, but i WILL be using that analogy anywhere i have the opportunity to in the next few weeks. Thanks for that one.
Part of the illusion of going faster, in my observation, is provided by the animation in the progress bar. every five seconds or so, a lighter-colored streak moves quickly from the left of the progress bar to the right. it's really annoying, and i'm certain it's there to make the progress bar look like it's moving faster than it really is. That may fool a few idiots, but it's gonna piss off a bunch of people who actually know what's going on. It's so conspicuously deceptive and i (may be alone here) see it as arrogant...as though they think they're pulling one over on us. Bastards.
Creative will probably continue to destroy itself by writing crap drivers to control their crap hardware. Seriously, have you ever opened up an Audigy and seen the cheap-ass components? Those capacitors are made by whom?
However, M-Audio is not going anywhere, after their acquisition by Avid. I'm no fan of Avid, Digidesign or Pro Tools (actually, quite the opposite, but I'll spare you the rest of the rant), but M-Audio's gear has always been faithful to me, considering its reasonable price. Unless Digi makes a mess of them like they make a mess of everything they do, I'd say M-Audio will be with us for a while.
Mac's version of "maximize" opens up as much space as it takes to display whatever has been opened, be it your browser or an audio editing program. I suppose that's not for everybody. Personally, I don't need to see a whole bunch of empty space on either side of what I'm reading. But more importantly, don't let a coward affect your decision! Give it a try!
The 15% that the submitter was referring to was the 15% of the total cost of his purchase, computer and all, not just 15% of the price of Vista + Works.
Still glad that it's not the customer who got "fsked pretty good." Cheers.:)
Only difference now is that when a CD doesn't sell, they can blame copying/file sharing, and not simply bad marketing practices.
And they'd still be wrong! If they could pull their heads out of their overstuffed asses, they'd realize that they're not selling records because they're not making records worth spending money on. Plain and simple. I wish I could go buy a record a week, like I used to do on a teenager's allowance! Today, I could buy new records to my heart's content! But my heart's not content with the content (or lack of) they continue to spew at us.
Dude, i know you're trying to be funny, but come on. Lots of people losing everything they've worked for vs. the discomfort you put yourself through watching a movie that you didn't like? Wow.
Traditionally, "Black Friday" is the day after Thanksgiving, when (as the previous poster mentioned) many stores have huge sales. That day is, according to lore, the day that many businesses begin to make a profit for the year. I'm not sure how accurate this is, as I'm not in retail, but this doesn't sound reasonable to my ears. Check out snopes' perspective here: http://www.snopes.com/holidays/thanksgiving/shoppi ng.asp
You should try to pretend that your (sic) not a(n) (Anonymous) Coward. It would make reading your comments more interesting. This is just short of the guy who wrote about the guy who wrote that Bill Gates and his entire family...whatever dude. Don't be a coward.
Erm, I think he made it pretty clear he was speaking for himself...

No, I can't possibly think that Microsoft did it by accident.

The digg link was funny, but the /. link topped it. +2 Funnier.
As for the blackboard, it's probably just there for the sake of the photograph. A picture of someone reciting pi probably wouldn't be too remarkable.
The reason that hasn't been released would be "trade secrets."
Relax. Think before you call B.S.
So, you're saying you paid $599 for a PS3 at cost? Good thing you didn't pay some eBay-inflated price!
San Onofre?

serioulsy off-topic, but only here will you find a 2-point post with a 2-point "mod parent up" post. That's pretty funny.
Your comment could fit in a text message. You seem to be communicating. Just a thought.
cue the joke with the "woosh" and the "sound" and the "over" and the "head"
so go watch the video, AC. come on. and grow a pair while you're at it.
