(to be honest, I had never heard of lookaround operators before!).
Gezzzz, This guy hasn't even heard of lookaround operators before? What a clueless fool! He should be driven from/. after being tarred and feathered!
Everyone knows that a lookaround operator is that guy that goes into the bank first to make sure that there aren't any armed guards or policemen/women getting their paychecks deposited.
Hearst is a non-issue, he was just an asshole (his home in california is beautiful however). When the lusitania was blown up and his paper printed it 5 hours before it happened, thats pretty fucked up.
That's interesting news.
Can you find a reference online to back that up?
By the way, the rest of your comment makes sense, but that little tidbit throws doubt upon the rest.:-(
So, somebody, what are all these people's home and business snail-mail addresses? I'm sure they all
want to know about all these wonderfull
mail order offers that are out there.
Reminder to Timothy: You need to remember to logout of your terminal when you leave your desk (or at least lock your screen); otherwise CmdrTaco will post Dupes from your account.
BTW: The Secret Service will probably be giving you a call in the morning also... Taco CC'd all of us on your message to The President.
I'm confused.... This is Tuesday, isn't it?

I thought on Tuesdays we were supposed to hate AOL, and love the little ISPs.
But what about all my X-10 equipment in my house? Won't this mess up the signal that my light switches are using?
Note to moderators: This post is both Funny, AND informative. Despite X-10's annoying pop-ups, there are LOTS of people who use X-10 in the real world.
Off hand, I think I'm going to kick in another $10 into the pool.;-)
Seeing all these whiners is the most fun I've had all day. If they don't want to see the Dupes today, then Cmdr Taco (Hallowed be his nick) is certainly NOT twisting their fingers to type in www.slashdot.org into their browswer windows....
BTW: It is MORE funny the fifth time. He's just poking fun at himself for all the other dupes during the year.
As a side note: I forwarded the RFC to one of the security guys up-stream from me asking what we were going to do about filtering for this, and HE sent it upstream from him....
Just remember everyone, Unix-like operating systems (Free-BSD, Linux, GNU/Linux, HPUX, Solaris, etc.) have the capability to have "Empty" files. When you do an `ls`, they CAN show up as huge....
I think I'll go making a download page at my website with "Office.zip", "Word.zip", and "Outlook.zip", which all will appear to be 600 megs or larger.....
I for one welcome our new ATI masters....
Well, nobody else said it, so I figured I'd get it out of the way.
I still miss Natalie and Ellen though...
You know, maybe if you had made it a REAL link like this:
Evil Empire
that would have been a good idea.
Now how about finding me some vermouth, gin, and an Olive?

Ellen Feiss switches to Windows 2000...
So, somebody, what are all these people's home and business snail-mail addresses? I'm sure they all want to know about all these wonderfull mail order offers that are out there.
As long as the runnin gags change every month or two, they're ok. It's part of what makes /. as amusing/interesting as it is.
At least we haven't heard any cracks about "All your base are belong to Ellen Feiss" lately... ;-)
And of course, since this is a meta-conversation, it will be modded down to -1, offtopic, but I can burn the Karma, so who cares.
Gee, what did Roger do to tick you off so badly? Steal your GF? Win at Couter-Strike? Railgun you?
Now I KNOW somebody changed the /. calendar on me. We're only supposed to bash Cisco
ON THE SECOND AND FOURTH THURSDAYS
and this is Wednesday in the U.S., and not even the right week count.
Can somebody please point me to the revised /. Love|Hate calendar so I can get with the program?

Did somebody change the /. calendar again on me?

No, the real joke is that every single STINKING DAY FOR THE NEXT WHOLE FREAKING YEAR, we will see the "Evil Bit" story reposted.
Kinda like Ellen Feiss, Natalie Portman, Petrified Hot Grits down your pants, Soviet Russia and All your base...."
In other breaking news; Ellen Feiss switches to VMS....

I wonder if he even bothered to read it....
Why does that scare me?
So.....
Do tools like Nessus and ISS Set or Clear the evil bit?

The Walkin Dude's a-comin......
Good idea, but it's missing ISBN numbers on some of the books, publisher information (Which I KNOW can be several publishers for the same work)
I have to suggest that somebody go on a major ISBN harvesting mission for this site....
I am Emmett Smith.

Is this the first draft of the new Michael Crichton novel?
I found the plot rather thin, the characters unbelievably one-dimensional, and the ending was far to pat and convenient to believe.
Actually, it reads like most of his novels.
