    With the font I regularly use, I can fit a 2x2 array of browser windows on screen each with 84x34 size (the extra 4 is good for vim's line numbers). You don't need widescreen for this, I'm using a 1024x768 screen!

    If you are comparing the contrast to the fill 8-bit range, (i.e. 1 to 255) then you want to compare a black screen and a white screen, not a black screen and a medium-brightness screen.

    In GIMP 2.4.5: File->Preferences->Window Management: Set "Hint for the toolbox/other docks" to "Utility Window". This also takes them out of the taskbar.

    What's the big deal with this "can't be reproduced by a normal RGB cluster"? All the colors in the screenshots look pretty normal to me, nothing out of the regular gamut. Damn, I followed this article's link from my feed reader to make that very joke, but now that I'm here I see that you've already done a fine job of bungling it...

    There's some serious xenophobia going on here and it's hard not to sympathize with the cylons, especially the Six is custody who's constantly told that she's a worthless pile of bolts.. that must be causing some serious psychological damage, and I can't help but keep that abuse in mind when watching the "light" parts of the episodes.. as if I'm supposed to sympathize with the humans? They're more vicious than the cylons..

    Well, I was going to say that this is the whole point of the show, bringing into question what constitutes humanity, how racism seems to show up again and again in different forms, etc. I think it is intentional that the humans are made to look vicious, and that you are supposed to sympathize to some extent with the cylons.

    Then I read the replies that people are giving you. If something is more or less indistinguishable from a human, on what basis can you say that it isn't human? Some people just don't seem to get it.

    Your data isn't just in Facebook's servers, but also potentially those of all the third part apps you've ever added to your profile.

    By default, this also includes applications any of your friends have. Check out Privacy -> Applications and Ads -> Other Applications to see what you're sharing with them.

    Notice that you _cannot_ disable sharing name/networks/friends with your friends' applications without first removing all of your own Facebook platform applications O_O.

    When you add an application, it asks you quite clearly:

    [ ] Know who I am and access my information.

    It's the first checkbox.

    Or, even better: you don't need to use applications! Hell, you don't even need to use Facebook! There are services like Hushmail for people who want privacy in their communications.

    Your friends' applications can see your personal information as well. Check Privacy->Applications->Other Applications to see for yourself.

    I think the GP was suggesting the opposite direction, write the program in a higher level language.

    It's brutally hard to write memory compacters for C++ programs. You need to be able to change the pointers to be able to correctly move memory, and C++ cannot provide runtime data to identify what memory locations correspond to pointers.
