    Piratbyran is not the Pirate Bay; they just founded it. Ever since 2004 their only connection was being hosted on the same servers, and that only until they moved.

    The only use of a server in IM should be as a directory and participant availability service, not to carry the conversations, unless both participants are behind NAT.

    XMPP does that, or can do if you want it to,

    end-to-end security rather than client to server,

    and OTR will do that.

    Registering a patent does not imply how you will license it. You can patent an invention and then grant everyone a non-exclusive right to use it.

    It is also the safest, most convenient way to keep a patent troll from stealing it - if the troll applies for a patent and your invention is not on file, they might get it and challenging a patent is expensive litigation. Having patented it first should prevent that sort of thing.

    (Not a lawyer, but have gleaned legal knowledge by reading a lot of Slashdot comments by people who are also not lawyers. :P )

    It does say that the treatment almost certainly caused her death. While the kidneys were going to fail eventually, this was probably helped along by the growths that were found at the injection sites.
