The temporary decrease in heavy industry (and thus, fall in CO2 emissions) due to a slow economy is another reason to take advantage of the situation and re-enter with a strong economy with renewable technologies in place. Unfortunately, not many people are down for spending the money to invest in a down economy. You can bet we'll see a sharp uptick in relative emissions over the next few years as more and more areas "rebound" with the same old technologies driving it.
Not the dirtiest, no, but it isn't like nuclear power is a tremendous feature of wester N.C. According to this region's power supplier, coal and oil-fired plants make up at least two-thirds of the electricity generation, splitting the rest between nuclear (most of it) and hydro plants.
It's unfortunate that such companies will flock to places that offer cheap but dirty power for their facilities. Google, at least, takes a progressive stance towards these things. Hard to maintain a "green" image if your vital infrastructure intensifies the demand for coal-burning. Harder still if you made the conscious choice to participate in this by moving there.
It's not because of the frequently-texting, or because of the facebook-use. It's what's popular and social. Just so happens, sex, drugs, and attention-whoring are what the cool kids are doing, so of course you'll find one with the other. Trying to correlate those things together in some sort of causal way is an easy (shameless) way to grab parents' attention, but is entirely missing the point.
Yeah good point. And yeah, black market is my guess. Still though, probably pretty risky for someone to go around taking pictures with one of these cameras.
So apparently The Washington Post presents a clear and present danger to public freedom and the accountability of government and industry.
Keep in mind that this is an Op-Ed... NOT to be confused with a staff editorial.
Mr. Thiessen's writing doesn't represent the WaPo directly. Only in their decision to run the article are they involved.
In other words, don't think the WaPo is defending their bottom line, attacking accountability, etc. They have a pretty solid reputation for fighting for transparency.
Perhaps looking at fossilized life (and specifically where it once occured) will help SETI narrow down that huge scope in looking for still-active life.
If it's a matter of listening to the loudest and largest representation on a google search, then... shoot... I need to find that "single local mom" because she is a motherfucking genius for discovering all those old rules and simple tricks.
They should wait until things are worse-off to release such damning and anger-inducing materials. We ain't going to spark the revolution this way!

The data on my Facebook site is mined.
Fixed that for you.

...valour?
And my mom says I'm the most handsome kid in the 4th grade.
Incidentally, I was struck by lightning in the 3rd grade, which according to this, probably did me wonders.
"Appeals" ... "retrial" ... same question here.
... so can someone in-the-know explain why these awards always increase as trials go on and on? Since when is the appeals process "double or nothin'?"

Noticed they mentioned Samsung... I wonder why N. Korea is allowing S. Korean brands to be sold. Any ideas?
What the hell kind of virus isn't DNA-based?
This article's awesome! I want everyone I know to see it and also to know that I'm SOOOOOOooooo tired.
It's popularity has really sunk!
"The RIAA would strongly prefer informal agreements inked with intermediaries"
How is an agreement that is written down somewhere considered "informal?"
Really though, what's the difference? Humiliation is the same no-matter what the source.
Newsday has been publishing DUI arrestees' mugshots on their website for at least the last few years.
As an interesting note, the iPhone auto-enters a period when you double space, so the tradition is still partially alive, at least.
True, but it inserts a single space with that period.
Find: ".__"
Replace "._"
Document converted. Works in everything I've tried. (Underscore obviously just to show space / dodge HTML single-space rule)

The Quit Snitchin' movement takes yet another hit.
I'm such a firm believer in conservationism, I'm going to go print up 100,000 fliers to raise awareness!
