    gentoo? mixing and matching? Unfortunately, gentooers don't use RPM or DEB, the two most major ones, and you still have the issue of dependancies being packaged differently, and being installed in different paths.

    The only real way to have a universal format is for the world to only use one distribution, because really, packaging is the most major part of a distribution's job.

    to be fair...apt is a little better (it doesn't take so long or so much cpu to resolve dependancies, and it doesn't break at the first error 404, 403, or 500 it comes across)

    The ATM machines should directly encrypt the card info with the issuing bank's public key(or at least with the single operators public key, and then only get re-encrypted once, by that trusted machine)....that way the men in the middle/other banks along the way do not have the ability to see the transaction info

    Since when were init scripts drivers? ....Also, I have my doubts the shown release of fedora compiles the kernel on boot, and that fast!

    It's pretty impressive that the playstation 3 is willing to run any generic ppc operating system, but I have my doubts that these systems will be completely adpoted by the /. community, at least until they come down in price.

    do spam bots really want to run javascript? think of all those little applications that do stuff that the spambots might not like soo much. at some point its just easier for them to move on, and extract other people's email addresses.

    javascript is not exclusive to ms browsers, and it wasn't developed by or for microsoft, or directly for exclusive use on any microsoft products.
