You don't even need to go that far.
What is the main benefit we get out of exploring space?
Research. Plain and simple.
I can't even imagine how far and wide space research has influenced technology today. Better understanding of flight mechanics and materials have improved the aerospace industry. The need to ensure the safety of astronauts has lead to new technology trickling down into the medical industry. New manufacturing processes. New scientific instruments. Velcro. TANG!
Even if we learn absolutely nothing directly from this mission there is always going to be derivative technology from what we had to develop to get there.
The benefits of research are innumerable.
Don't they release a completely new SWG every couple of months already? Going from 34 to 9 professions and adding a level system is about the same thing.
Why do these people who continue to make horrendous attempts to predict the future still have readers? Or better yet - jobs? I can't understand why people like Dvorak are still allowed to write.
I was hoping for a follow-up that said "China Getting 'Serious' About Gold Farmers?" but then I thought if they did they'd recruit 20,000 volunteers to help gold farmers. It's bad enough that they're hoarding real world resources, but when they do it in our MMO's too... that's just too much.
Yes, you can ebay it... assuming you're allowed property rights on the technology you own and are not just licensing it with a non-transferrable contract.
It consists of sitting on a couch with a controller in your hand and gyrating around using body English in an attempt to control some action on a TV screen hooked to a video game console.
Isn't the body movement the language itself? This is kind of like saying I speak spanish English.
I could argue that "Video games lead to better parenting" as those who played the Simpson's game instead were very interested in ensuring Lisa was able to turn her homework in on time.
Everything EA touches turns to shit.
Sorry, I threw it out in the Dumpster. Want a Kleenex?
The NSA isn't quite the same as running 4000 desktops.
The NSA doesn't measure processing power in MHz or GHz.
They measure processing power in acreage.

Run the search for "not a dumptruck" and "A series of tubes"!
The future is Spell.... Checkersq.

Australia deploys troops for Amphibious Warfare
You people have more paranoid delusions than Stephen King on crack.
If people committed murders in the early 1900's after reading books then all this would have been fleshed out already.

Already being done.
Go make another TIE Fighter game. Stick with what you're good at.
Yes, Nintendo spearheads innovation. I can't wait to get a Wii and play Mario 9, Mario Kart 5, Zelda 12, and metroid 11.
I hope Wisconsin is bold enough to take the initiative on other futuristic problems such as "WI bans mandatory human to robot brain transplants".
