    Try NDISwrapper, it works just fine...Granted, if you are a purest, this is non-open software technically, so if you don't mind loading it using the afore mentioned software, it will work like a champ.

    It has been a joke for a long time!!! I worked for McAfee in about 1998, and they were a joke that far back as well. Hopefully one day, an antivirus that actually does not depend on viruses being reported or found in the wild will come along, and kill off the crappy stuff we have now-a-days.

    It is not so much the lowlings who tape their password on their monitors you need to worry about, it is the UNIX, or Windows admin who posts the root or admin password on theirs. I would not have an admin who would do this, so I have very little to worry about. Not to mention, when someone gives a 2 week notice in IT, we just wave it, and have them escorted out of the building ASAP. General users have very little access to very sensitive information, with a few exceptions. If someone is high enough up, or does a sensitive enough job, they are watched like a hawk, and generally, we use 2 person integrity. Trust them just enough, but let them know you are watching. That has always been my moto.

    HAHA!! SuSE Dead? Dang, the company I work for, who just switched about 150 desktops to it is REALLY gonna be bummed about that...seeing as we have a support contract from Novell. Does anyone on this site ever base any of their comments on fact, or just conjecture?

    If you are going to run windows, buy it, if not, go get an OS that is free, as in freedom and beer. Then you do not have to worry about this kinda shit. There are hundreds of Linux distros out there for free, format, install (it only takes about 25-30 mins now a days) and try them out. Repeat as necessary to find the one you want to use.

    Sorry about the subject...I just always wanted to say that :o) I started life as a Registered Nurse, USNavy paid for it, then I went to Mecdical School...THAT DOCTOR STUFF SUCKS!! Sooo...Flash forward 20 years, now I am a manager of Information Security at a small but large financial institution. I have NO degree whatsoever in IT, don't plan on getting one either. I learned most things on my own, but have taken lots of training classes on the way, such as Cisco, MS, Linux, UNIX, etc. I have lots of certs, including MCSE, CNE, CISSP, etc. Truthfully, in IT that is what matters. Good luck to you, if you really want to be an IT guy, you can do it, IF you have the apptitude.

    Yeah...and as far as I know, Cisco has neither. I can go buy a 3.4ghz P4 processor, and beat their dedicated network processors, as well as their system processors...why not give it a shot? I have used several "other" router OSes and have seen the likes of Mikrotik, Zebra, etc beat Cisco in the mid-range market.

    NVidia is no better...I am running SUSE 10.1 and have to recompile my friggin' kernel everytime there is an update...I really hate it when that happens!

    Sun Comments... I work for a almost completely SUN shop, and I gotta tell you, there is not an Intel/Linux box out there, that is as cost effective, based on the hardware/OS you get. Of course, that is my opinion, and I am sticking to it.
