Is not having an identity! Be born a feral child in a large park, scrapping together language and education based on the teach-ins and demonstrations that take place in said park, living off the scraps of the birthday parties and occasional graduation ceremonies in the town...
Part of this is Japan has a much tighter control on data transmitting devices (gov't wise) than us. You have to get the government to set up your TV...and your internet...
Personally I hate how people want our plants to fight with weeds...
Anyone ever hear of no-till farming? Although it sacrifices a lot of land per amount of production, the quality of the produce is much higher than can be expected. The fruit and roots compete with the weeds and even bugs...you have to weed periodically in the beginning, but once your plants adapt to your soil its just a matter of collecting your produce. The insects will most likely (assuming they are native) go for the weeds enough so that pesticides aren't needed (assuming too that you know how to cook) and the food you get is also tastier.
Also, on a side-note, each person can produce enough food for 10 people. Theoretically its a possible method, but not given the state of the world as it is today, as it is not "efficient" for modern consumerism. But its sustainable.
Someone should change the title from "Best Game Ever?" to "Best Video Game Ever?" As a tabletop enthusiast I continue to be peeved that "Game"="Video Game" on lists where no tabletop gaming is represented.
And to say there is a best is like saying it is not a true art form, but a type of engineering. This is an opinion poll, which is again based purely on popularity, etc... For all we know, Kolibri could be the best game of all time...or some forum based RPG that died out years ago.
Before someone replies with the same Jackassary comparison that gets used in these discussions, NO it's not the same as drugs because they are illegal to have, where as music isn't.
Should have added:
...until the RIAA 'Digital Music Re-Distribution Act" is passed and we have to pay.15 for every 3 minutes our video cards are used for sound audible by the human ear.
59.99 a month? For that much I could use 411 (a friendly service at least down here), stick to my old cellphone and buy well equipted MP3 player after a couple months...
This still isn't the issue that should be discussed. Most greenhouse gas emissions (that can be prevented to continue our society running in a way similiar to how its running how) come from poor building design. Architecture, engineering and software design is what needs to be looked at, not car's which contribute only about 1/3rd the damage that building, living in and operating buildings add to the factor.
We need to use smart and effective 'green' design. And no, I don't mean we should be living in squalor cabins with grass on our roofs--beautiful, effective and low cost green architecture is available...if the industry will ever be embraced!
This is amazing. At last the international world can explore the wonderful technology that has brought together so many, using an effective comment and rating system to ensure that each video posted is as high quality as the last (the infallible "5 star system").
No but seriously, YouTube is like a cesspool. There is no quality control for comments. There are no moderators who bann idiots who do stuff like chain letters and spamvertising their own videos. People are now using videos of themselves talking for what the comment box was supposed to originally be. And this is not just the fault of the stupid users on youtube. The limited size of the comment box and the ease of posting comments is all their issues.
Lets not ignore the fact that people are trying to make this like a second my-space. I'm tired of getting e-mails from people who just want to say "hi" to me over and over again for no god-damned reason. Its nice and all, but its not a "comment" or appropriate "message". Your not telling me what I can do to make better videos. Your not critiquing my videos or even asking me what the source of my video files are (to which I usually reply "it costs money" and never hear from you again).
Furthermore, the lack of quality control of videos (I'll just say it: reposts) and lack of meta-tag control is absurd. I see people copying-and-pasting lists of every anime ever created (or at least most of them) followed by every number from 1 to 400 to ensure there SLIDE SHOW OF GOOGLED IMAGES can be found. 90% of the "anime music videos" on the bloody site are either slideshows that don't even match the beat of the music or use a single image size for consistency, or else videos copied and pasted from AMV.org.
Lets not forget the flagging system. With this wonderful system, even the most innocent of videos can be tagged as inappropriate, nevermind that it was tagged simply because its a "rival video" of another creator...
This isn't even looking at the fact every video uploaded on youtube ends up having lower quality then an AVI washed through windows-movie maker with the default render settings.
I'll stick to Crunchy Roll and Stage6 for now, thank you very much.
Then explain why "automobile" is translated in my text-book. Oh, and sex. Especially sex. Everyone knows sex wasn't inven...err...discovered until the 1960s.
One of the elderly residents who refused to evacuate the contaminated area says packs of wolves have eaten two of her dogs, and wild boar trample through her cornfield.
I'd ask if I could download a sample of this, but quickly realized the rights to the music may belong to some kind of quasi-sentient lawyer-being or, worse yet, a RIAA radio station/satellite launched into the moon just to catch me.
As a college student living on campus in California without a car, I find myself walking almost everywhere, which is why I brought that up. Of course I also have wifi everywhere. As well as free public computers within 500 feet of me almost wherever I am, or else a friend's residence where I can borrow one.
That's why I either:
1.) Plan ahead.
2.) Use 411.
3.) Call another friend who will be by a computer.
4.) Use a computer (keep in mind "hanging out with my friends" will mean "LAN Party", "DnD" or "Break from Architecture Work", all of which means, for me at least, I will be at a computer either during or less than an hour before we leave).
And I never have trouble finding wireless when I really need it. Starbucks every 3rd shopping center. Walmart or Mc Donalds every other shopping center. All I need is my DS and a memory card and I can do anything, save for make calls, the iPhone can.
But in the end I am not the normal consumer. The last thing I've purchased that doesn't come from a store owned by an Otaku or from a company that can be spelled out without misrepresentation in complete Kanji would be some Linen from Micheals I used to represent canvas in my study model.
Yeah, every other post makes that ipod>MP3 player analogy.
The main difference is mobile music players have been around since even before the walkman. Being able to "listen" to something other than your surroundings while walking is easy. The problem is, what do you do when your walking and want to surf the internet? Can you keep walking while actively engaging in a web surfing environment?

All this time I thought the primary medium for listening to music were either speakers or my ears...or the air...here I was all wrong.

No thank you.
Atten: On July 5 of this year...America will blow up the moon.
That is all.
The American People, America, Earth
God damned mamoths. They are multiplying at a rate 100,000x more than last year!

Most anime viewers I know who don't know how to use IRC or hate torrents still use Youtube...
And all those viewers are in or graduating from college...
But what do I know. Its only about 1/20th of the campus.

The correct answer is ALWAYS...
"I love you..."
I meant in regards to nature, not economics. Bad word choice. Should have used "societies", not "nations".
If only we had self sustaining nations here >_>
Brace for Second Impact!

Most programmers have very strong right arms for whatever reason...
5 million lines of code? Are they allowed to show all that.
/insert another "anatomy" joke here.
That's hot.
One of the elderly residents who refused to evacuate the contaminated area says packs of wolves have eaten two of her dogs, and wild boar trample through her cornfield.
This is good news?
I know, it is, it is.
But wild animals may be good, but dupes are not.
after you throw them, they walk back to you? Genius!
Vista is software? I thought it was a headache and an expensive, taxed gift card/store credit after you return it.
Oh wait, no, I can't even return it.

I for one, cannot. >_>
