Really? What kind of issues did you run into? I'm curious, I've owned mainly ATI cards, a 9700, 9800XT, my current X800XT. I've also installed X1900XTX for a friend, X700 on two separate occasions. I've had one nVidia card, the GeForce 3 Ti 200, and I can't recall having problems with those either. Either I've been extremely lucky in all cases, or the people having problems have had other hardware causing these issues.
They don't need to, but they really should. I mean, does it not seem logical that the best people for the job are the ones that actually designed the hardware? While this seems hardly true, at the moment, it could be ATI's way of thinking.
The Omega Drivers have always been a good substitute, for both ATI and nVidia. ATI's drivers aren't all that bad, I haven't personally had any issues, but their software is a mess. I have an All In Wonder X800 XT, and I tried their PVR software and it was buggy and unresponsive, as well as poorly laid out. I decided to use a third party PVR and it worked perfectly.
No no no.. I think you missed the point. See, a missle defense system isn't all that handy if it isn't built. Note that he said US plans will force them to target Europe.
I think the iPhone is a poor response to the problems you have pointed out. I don't think its meant to replace the current trend, but rather redesign the ridiculous-who-would-spend-that-much-on-a-phone market. Until they start showing up with phones regular people can afford, mobile phones are going to be just as shitty tomorrow as they are today.
Personally, I like to keep my phone ability to the minimum, call people, text people, tell time and possibly have an alarm. Games, maybe, but might be unnecessary.
The iPhone just seems like a pocket PC with phone capabilities.. maybe I'm missing something, but that doesn't seem all that revolutionary.. but hopefully you're right, and it will affect the market, and we'll see some higher quality phones. Nothing wrong with hoping.
I see Quake 4 supposedly running at full steam (no specs or framerates though, but I'll give the guy the benefit of the doubt), but how are DX games running on that? Since Q4 is using an OGL engine, I can see why it would be able to perform so well. But it is my understanding that DX games greatly outnumber OGL ones.
Your little rant on a SciFi show is a bit, well, pointless. The whole point of SciFi is that its unrealistic in many aspects, just like you said. Just because a lot of it is similar to current tech or in some way realistic to a point, does not mean it has to stick to it. By your analogy, all these present day action flicks and such should not have unrealistic fights or gadgets. Because, that makes for an exciting movie right? Yawn. Restrictions like hacking their systems and whatnot add complications to the story and thats what will help make a show/movie good.
On a side note, he got modded funny, because it was a funny post. Thats how things work at slashdot.
...why they don't encode some kind of customer ID instead? Embedding your name and e-mail seems a bit strange. Is this Apple's revenge against those that distribute among P2P networks, hoping that some sucker forgets to remove his info and gets a slew of spam?
Most of the companies in this market don't "get it" either.
Give me a player with a removeable battery, comes standard with a wall charger, drag and drop file transfer without additional software, multiple audio/video format support, large capacity, and folder hierarchy. I may be missing some features but I have yet to find a player that satisfies all those criteria. I own a Creative Zen Vision: M and so far it is the closest I have been able to find.
Its important to note that the Zune is not available in small capacities. I'm pretty sure that more iPod nanos and shuffles greatly outnumber the 30GB versions.
If this is true, I certainly won't be playing this online. I find it ridiculous that anyone would pay to play multiplayer on a PC platform (I can understand why for MMO's, but I still find it ridiculous). Even Xbox Live is too much. Paying once for a game is good enough. If they can host BattleNet for Starcraft, they can certainly do it with Starcraft 2.
That being said, I'm sure there is a way to decentralize it to an extent. Is BattleNet not set up this way? As in, BattleNet enables you to start up games with other players and such, but you host the game on your own PC? So, all it really is is a basic messaging system (of which the channels could also be hosted by the channel owner). Let's hope they keep with the old BNet tradition.
I can't count the number of people I know who are paying or have paid for anti-spyware and anti-virus software. It's truly become a market for the uninformed. Then again, if they didn't pay for some services, we wouldn't get any of them free, eg. AVG. I'm glad some people pay for their software, if they didn't, would it still be around?
The last time I had a virus was a year and a half ago. That smitFraud virus I believe. But that was before I knew about NoScript. I haven't had a problem since, other than a bit of spyware (maybe 10-12 instances, very harmless). Once in a while I run AVG Anti-Spyware, but I never leave this software running in the background. I like to keep my system tray uncluttered. I'm behind a single router firewall, and I have security center and auto updates disabled.
..to see the software discern between two different voices when typing up a document.
The only problem I see here, is people becoming too dependant on the software. Terms like urinalysis might become something we will automatically associate with your analysis, people will get lazier and lazier, as if we aren't enough already.

Fixing problems are overrated. It's become standard practice to just ignore them.
... you or someone living with you has that urge to press big shiny buttons.
In which way does this affect brain development? If more testosterone = better brain development, well, then sexism just raised by 50%.
Nothing says I love you like a diamond quantum computer.
If I had to guess, I would say because its the most advanced OGL game on the market currently.

Great work otherwise.

If this is true, why hasn't it been done already? I imagine there is some way to edit whatever ID's your xbox as yours.

Typo, *seeing*, not saying. Heh.
I am actually saying multiple sources that are saying it is in the millions.

Am I missing something here? Maybe misreading or something, 350 000 just seemed really low.

That would suck the juice right out of those batteries, by rechargeables or prepare to stock up. :)
Give me an ergonomic version, make it about 1500 less, and I'm sold!
Here is a much higher quality version. http://www.gametrailers.com/player.php?id=19759&ty pe=wmv
;)
I know Diablo fans are upset, but think about this, we've waited how long for a sequel? You've got your Diablo 2

Now that would be nice, wouldn't it? :) If DX was cross-platform, I would be in heaven.
