The TSA is not involved in the Rochester airport. Little known fact, but airports are allowed to hire private security companies to do the passenger screening again as long as they follow TSA guidelines.
Nothing new here. The same thing was done in 2005 when I was in the class. It was done by the professor himself and the next day he was able to display the IM conversation two kids were having in the class. One end was encrypted so he didn't think he could be caught, but the other end was not, so the prof was able to display the chat. Basically the chat had something to do about how bored the student was. It was quite amusing.
Yes, technically I guess you are correct, but Beer Pong has come to mean the same thing as beirut. No one plays with paddles anymore, it's a boring stupid game.
They way I see it now, Beer Pong = 6 cups, Beirut = 10
That school is plain awful. Anyone stuck there's gonna need a fast internet connection cause there is NOTHING else to do. This was just a 2-yr college up until a few years ago.
This is a great move by the NHL. This won't cause the Center Ice package to lose money, since you can't actually watch the sling + clip clips live. I have a HD-DVR cable box, so i can control my dvr and cable box all from my slingbox. Being on the road 4 out of 5 days a week, slingbox has been a lifesaver. And being a fan of the NHL, i can actually enjoy my center ice package using the slingbox.
NHL players have also embraced this technology. The NJ Devils were given Slingboxes as a Christmas present. I know that a bunch of them use it on the road to follow other teams/friends.
The NHL struggles with viewership. My solution, put it back on ESPN!!! The coverage on ESPN is so much better than NBC/Versus. Get that boring-ass Bill Clement off the air and that moronic Brett Hull off the air as well. Mike "Doc" Emerick is the only good thing they got going for them. Also, shrink the league so that they get rid of any team that doesn't have atleast 5 days of snow a year!
I really should work for the NHL, I'd turn it around real quick.
I have tried everything I can, but I can't figure out how to hook up my laptop to hotel tvs that have those stupid OnCommand or Lodgenet devices attached to them.
I have s-video to s-video as well as s-video to rca cables. I also have a universal remote because the hotel remotes don't have an input button. Problem happens when i hit the input button....nothing happens. The source does not change! There is also no input/source button on the tv:(
What the heck can I do. The onCommand device is securely attached to the tv. The coaxial cables have these lock thing to prevent them from being taken off. Has anyone successfully removed these(and subsequently put them back) without damaging the tv or cable?
I really want to watch my slingbox on the hotel tv, but I cannot figure out any other way. A quick google search of hacking the hotel tv brings up stories about people who have been able to remove the cable from the wall, and hack into the oncommand system to get all the pay channels, but none of these stories will be able to help me in my case. I figure if people on slashdot can't figure it out, then it's pretty near impossible to do without breaking things.
They have bidets???? What have I been missing all these years. Excuse me while I take a quick hike over to the green building:)
Are the doors locked on the upper floors at all? I've never been on any floor except 54-100
Hey chief, I know u have new lecture halls, i sat in them all last year. but i also was stuck in that poor excuse for a lecture hall for ALL of my freshman classes
Developers only need sysadmins to do the mundane tasks that they have no time or want to do. Developers can do all that a sysadmin can do and more. The frustrating thing is waiting around for a sysadmin to have time to do something for the developer that the developer could just do themselves if the corporation didn't have stupid rules in place
Degrees are a way for an employer to narrow down the candidates. Do you honestly think employers have the time to measure the aptitude of every candidate that applies? Degrees are a way to prove you must have some credibility
You wouldn't notice the ratio being even! Hell, half the women looked more manly than me;)
All kidding aside, do you really think the quality of students has decreased? The quality over the past ten year of MIT has greatly increased. The students today, continuing to succeed are the reasons your degree looks better and better.
If you're against evening the ratio, I bet you're also against afirmative action. At MIT though, we all know that without afirmative action, the makeup of the school would be 85% asian!
As an MIT alum myself recruite during her regime, I am sad she is leaving. Well-rounded people are necessary to keep the place sane! You know how tough it is, and without some amount of normality, the suicide rate would have kept increasing and increasing. Well-rounded is fine at MIT as long as they are mentally tough. Without that toughness you are bound to fail out.
This whole thing smells like an inside job, as if someone was holding this information not only over marilee's head, but also over the Institue's head. She did quite a fine job in the admissions dept and I hope her strategy at recruiting lives on.
Your comments sounds as if the students admitted during her regime weren't "qualified" enough to be at MIT. I'll tell you though, the quality of MIT student has been increasing every year. The talent pool just gets better and better. You being admitted pre-1997 doesn't show that you are any better than any mit student admitted post-1997. With her resignation, it also does not discredit the plethora of students who graduated during this period.
We should require pictures on college applications....hell if the women can't hack it at a school, oh well, it will atleast brighten up the spirits of the rest of the guys on campus struggling with classes. It's very depressing when you passed up on a party school to get a good education, but on the downside you get tons of work, slave over hw every night and have butt-ugly women to look at:(
Cell Phones do not interfere with plane equipment. All these stories about "pilots" who have experienced their avionic equipment going haywire while someone is making a call is completely bogus. How in the heck could you know that it was a cell signal and not one of the thousands of other variables on a plane! Mythbusters isn't exact science, but their show pretty mch proved cell phones don't do jack squat to a plane's equipment.
That being said, I am very glad the ban is still in place. If I were on a red-eye with some jerk blabbing all night long, I really think I would lose it, and normally I'm a very calm person.
I was with you until you said Media Lab. Maybe just use MIT next time.....the only things that have come out of the media lab are legos and stupid robots
It sounds more like you are justifying the reason you went to grad school than the actual topic at hand. Sounds like you have some demons you need to exercise, sheesh
Analog Devices created the chip inside the Wiimote, and another company designed the chip inside the nunchuck. Notice the drastic difference between the two. The wiimote reacts much faster!
What does having a seperate department for small sub-fields have anything to do with how much success a school has in this subject? That's like saying MIT is horrible at CS because they don't have an independent CS department!
Sure we don't have a medical school, but that's mainly because we are an engineering school. If we had a med school, we'd be good at that too. The HST department does amazing work. The research done in the Biology fields at MIT have caught up with the rest of the schools in the nation and is now one of the best. It's really hard to be the best at every subject, but MIT comes pretty darn close!

How many times do i need to say this. Chromium != Chrome

I've always used SmartDraw Professional. It is much more user friendly that Visio.

A well designed test wouldn't be all multiple choice!

They really need a new lecture hall. Most uncomfortable seats ever!

Now I'm not usually a fan of unions, but don't recording artists have some sort of union to prevent against the shenanigans of the record labels?

Rack another Nobel Prize up for MIT affiliated people And don't forget the physics one as well that guy won today. (MIT++)++;
POP??? This would royally piss me off.
