I read idiotic propganda all the time, and sometimes watch fox news. Gotta know your enemy. Really, this is a common case of not letting people sitck their foot in their mouth. Most reasonable people would read this idiotic propganda once and never need to read it again. But I would rather not think what may happen if they didn't learn right from wrong early...

"so lets apply them to this new medium"

    One word: Why?

For once in history, we have the ability to freely say and do anything, without causing any type of direct harm, and best of all, if it pisses you off, it's just one button to get rid of it all. I see no reason we need to bring the old broken laws enforced by fear and close-mindedness into this new medium.

If this "content that is not suitable for children" is so evil, please explain why it has existed since the dawn of time with no clearly proven impact on the world. Trying to deny it is just a fact of life is like trying to say everyone has 3 ears. You can want it to go away, make laws to make it go away, but kids will always sneek a look. Before I can take your argument that we need censorship seriously, you are going to have to show how this double-plus-ungood content has hurt the world, or how lack of it has helped. Until then you are only blindly supporting what you are told to, so good luck with that.

Speaking from experience, it can get even worse. I was working on overclocking my PC, so I updated the BIOS... same CPU, video card, hard drive... but when I booted up to windows, it wouldn't take my SN. After about 2 hours with MS I got it fix, but it was very much a hassle and unneeded. I do NOT plan to get vista, and this is the last pre-built PC I get, so I'm not getting OEM ether. Pirated or Linux, this is the last penny that goes to MS.

You seem to forget how easy it is to hex-edit and such. Pirates hack copy-protection far more sealed up then MS software, and all they are is a set of random people trying to give out free warez. A true conspiracy to hack the vote of a whole country is NOT going to be stopped by hex-editing vs. C editing, and while dark spots in the Linux kernel maybe hard to pick apart, a compiled window kernels is near imposable. So would Linux be better? It probably doesn't matter - if it's going to be hacked, it's going to be hacked.
