It's a valid question, however just a thought but would you commit 32 machine that you were currently using as production servers for a test pilot Linux project?
If Linux failed the tasks they set for it, then no problem, leave the original servers in place or do as they probably did it swap that portion of their network with the 32 servers and replace it with the Linux machines.
No Downtime, and as a bonus "look it's faster too"
I thought (it has been a while) that most modems could be configured to ignore the +++ command and only drop carrier if the DTR (Data Terminal Ready) line was lowered? I seem to recall that &C1 and &D2 set this behaviour.
Squid also allows you to rewrite the user agent information. Therefore if all machines behind the NAT are pointed at squid-proxy, the problem is solved.
Welcome to the NEW world, folks! Not only can I for see the absolutely diabolical events of the last week doing more of this sort of thing, that the realization that "we" are no longer safe in
large crowds.
I'm wondering if there's going to be a Superbowl, Academy Awards...
I promised myself, I was going to rent a comedy or something from the video store to try and break out of this surrealistic dream that this week seems to have turned into. I've still not made it as far as the video store but did manage to catch a learning channel show about the USS Trueman which made me feel a little better.
I switched to 0.9.3 permenantly but does anyone know what to put in the "helper apps" to
get RealPlayer8 working automatically? I'm not having much luck! Anyhow looking forward to giving 0.9.4 a try.
Me thinks you might want to add a couple of more machines to you're web-farm. When
this War finally gets rolling I think you're going to need 'em.
However, I agree KUDOS to the slash team for keeping slashdot available during this very emotional times. Being here in Toronto Canada, (I can tell you this whole business frightens the hell out of me) I certainly appreciate being able to read a lot interesting thoughts from other slashdotters world wide.
5th Plane theory?

Maybe I missed it, but has there been a confirmation about a 5th plane enroute to Colarado? This "mutual defense clause" does that mean that it's possible that Norad has been damaged and the U.S. is blind in the air?
I'm watchin CNN now and there's a reported talking about a single unidentified plane flying over NY and to me it looks like one of the new unmanned spy plane's.

I sincerly hope that this recent news about loki doesn't mean the end for them. However have you
ever tried convince your local games shop to order in copies. I really hope they review thier distribution channel while restructuring. After all some of us aren't comfortable ordering merchendise from the internet (and is it any wonder with all the news about computer security problems).
"A delay would have put this trial off by what, a couple of weeks? Wonderful. This trial, and mark my words, will last longer than the O.J. debacle. This will be a 3-year long trial, while Microsoft calls in experts, and the DoJ calls in rebuttal experts, on and on ad absurdium."
...you say that like it's a bad thing! After all it'll keep slashdot supplied with stories:-)
It's great to see another strategy game for linux. I only
hope that the developers can market the game themselves
or through someone like loki. If the game is enjoyable, I for
one don't mind voting for more like it with my dollars.
"First person shooter" games are nice but some of us find it
hard to get excited about Q4 (aka oh-god-yet-another-fps)
and that the whole world doesn't revolve around "Frames per
second" ratings. The game developers might want to keep that
in mind. There still is a gaming market for thinking-gamers.
I think this might be a new release based on CR2. I was being pounded by CR2 last
weekend, but it died off pretty quickly (about 1 or 2 hits a day). Now at 12:00pm EST
today, I started getting pounded again with "XXX". So it's either a second round of CR2 or
it's a new variation.
That being the case, I'll take 'ogg'. I'd much rather use an Open Standard than giving
"The Man's Standard", after all look at what the RIAA has done to places like Napster,
MP3.COM.

With nickname like mine, should I be worried too? :-)

Agreed, that feature turned me off mandrake.
WOW, when was the last time one of the bigger
distrobution makers release a version that could
install in that small a footprint.
Too bas it's RPM based.

Aww too bad. A couple of more slashes and we might have had morse code for 'sos' (Ya, I know SOS in morse is '. . . / / / . .
Still funny just the same.

Good point. How does 'ogg' compare to mp3pro?

The above server is the 'china goverment' defacement.
I'm beginning to think there really are two versions of CR2
I've been checking out some of the ip addresses that have been trying to send
me CR2 and I've found that there seems to be two different defacements.
The first is directed at the US government
and the second is directed at the Chinese government.
Is it possible there are two versions of CR2?
