  1. is it really progress on The Doom of Wired Peripherals · · Score: 5, Interesting

I'm wondering if it's really progress if everything we own are wireless, doesn't anybody think about the load of batteries it will take to make this equipment work?

Even if you use rechargeable batteries, i'm pretty sure a company that has over a 1000 employees will be very pleased to buy a pack of 4 AA batteries at 20$ plus another 25$ for the charger + the time for the I.T to go around spendind their time changing batteries instead of actual work.

I mean seriously, it may be practical but it is not cost effective or even realistic to imagine keyboard/mouse.

How many batteries does a keyboard take and a mouse? you'll ahve to spend 40$ every 3 months for each user so they dont have wires on their desktop?

    i think not

I totally agree that DS9 was one great series, it was original and tried to get out of the old mold of the other Star Trek series not that i totally dislike them except for voyager arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

But jokes aside, making another Star Trek Movie? COme on,, there is nothing left,,,absolutely nothing, they have exploited almost everything, they should do like Seinfled did, get out before it starts to be painful so you leave a good impression and not one of "oh they finally stopped it thank god"

Let them exploit some other series like Battle star galactica, now at least people know about this one, sure they did firefly but it wasn't a series everybody watched or had access to.

Or maybe, just maybe create something entirely new,,,yeah! that's it,,,something new,,,something epic,,,i dont know maybe have a dream like George Lucas and make us addict of that movie series because we desperately need that and not just microwave movie number 11.

Star Trek has had it's good run but it's time to get to something new.

  6. Not a breakthrough on Cancer Therapy with Radioactive Scorpion Venom · · Score: 1

Ok they say 2 out of the 18 patients were still alive after 2 years? that means 16 died from their cancer, so how is this study any good?

I mean if they said that 13 of the 18 patient still lived then it would suggest a real breakthrough and a valid treatment but come on, two out of 18 is 11% success, that hardly counts.

Hum! i think a company that OWNS the computer and PAYS their employee to WORK has a god damn right to make sure people aren't wasting their time having their entire photo album on their computer or music or other personal material whatsoever and that goes for network shares too.

Protection comes at a price, they cant know for sure who's a risk and who's not, is it a caucasion, ans asian or middle east man, you never know so they have to take a guess and if by doing what they do they come upon a drug dealer, pedophile or other criminal, well i say thankya Big Big gunslinger!
