  2. Skype on iPhone SDK Rules Block Skype, Firefox, Java ... · · Score: 1

Maybe skype, as a huge developer, could have some kind of a special contract with apple to be allowed to develop an OFFICIAL version of Skype for the iPhone?
There's no wonder apple doesn't want *amateur VoIP applications* running on the iPhone...

  3. I guess they could try... on Should Wikipedia Sell Advertising? · · Score: 1

Most users have ads blocked (ok, not most... most of users who know something about computers), and those who don't won't really mind.
And besides, slashdot has ads, and they don't seem to be too bad.

If we could tag comments, this would pretty much be "hurtetdsomeonesfeelings"

Well, firstly, aren't early adopters 'suffering for the rest of us' in pretty much all things that are new?
Early upgraders are the ones who face incompatibility first. And someone's got to be first anyway.
And the second thing, maybe apple will be a little more gentle with their 'biased' ads? (Not that they aren't funny... :) but, as we can see, apple is not that perfect after all)

Doesn't bother first, but gets really annoying afterwards.
Also, isn't youtube so popular just because of all thr material they're going to remove? Who wants to watch some emos bitching about their day? (Those who want are probably on Myspace anyway).

Hey, this IS funny - but not really such a big deal if examined closely.

  13. Re:Competition for the iPhone? on Google Phone Rumors Solidifying · · Score: 3, Insightful

True, but google has already spent waaaay more in marketing, so they can safely skip this step.
Just like apple - most phones were bought just because they have their logo (I'm not saying that the phone itself is not cool - I'd like to get one myself!, but if it was some unknown company the phone probably wouldn't be as popular as it is.)
Besides, google is even better known than apple is. For example, ask a first grade student what's google, and they'll know. Ask about apple, and they'll probably tell you that it's a fruit and nothing more :)
