And as a real Gamer the OtherOS options i actually a must have if you want to play old games that are actually fun and don't only look great, the only problem with OtherOS was the missing RSX support which meant nog having real 3D HW accelerated support, but the community has come a long way with the SPU OpenGL drivers, and even according to Geohot the RSX isn't even blocked, but is just missing the correct drivers (although I don't believe that). I don't have to remind you that the PS3 wasn't presented as a gamesconsole, but as a multimedia console which could do it all, but as a multimedia console it can't even match a $90 multimediabox.. I personally bought the device because of the bluray/mulitmedia and the OtherOS feature and games was a nice extra feature (I have 90+ PS3 games)... It's not the fact you can run linux on it, it's the fact you can run anything you want on it, and the comon linux for the PS3 like yellowdog is perfect for running emulators and old games (and that's why I want the linux, not really as a desktopcomputer replacement, althought the FF browser in linux is way WAY better as the Sony crapbrowser.... It's good for the customers, as a lot of people just bought the Wii but never used it after 1 week of use.. The biggest problem is the motion-controller, it's fun on paper, but most games are just regular games with the MC badly incorporated into it. There aren't many games (you can count them on 1 hand) that actually are worth being called a real MC based game.. It is nice to have better graphix, but if the controls just suck (and wiimote control does suck for a lot of games because it's so imprecise) it doesn't make the game any better, and that's what the wii 2 would be just another wii with better graphics.. Also Natal is great on paper and for some game, but mostly it requires too much space in front of your tv, and having to move a coffeetable/chairs everytime you want to play a game isn't great fun.. yeah in the commercials people have big rooms, but most people don't have such big livingrooms..

A lost prototype would surely be high on the priority list to get it back, so if someone calls and says it found a prototype and Apple doesn't do anything, then it's apples own damn fault, and not lay the lbame afterwards on the finder..

I'm so easily distracted when somebody is on the phone, or talking to another person, or like I do myself :) talk to myself during programming. I just can't get anything done as I keep watching up to see if they are talking to me. Headphones also aren't the best solution, as they aren't healty for your ears on a long term.

5 years? the PS3 is only 3.5 years old (in the US, and 3 years in the EU), and you call removing a complete feature 'patching? and Geohot only looked at it for not even 3 months and got where he was when he first announced the hack, also he was going for RSX support under linux, not piracy. But now because of what Sony does tomorrow he is going for customfirmware, and if there is someone who can do it, it's him, the only problem is that his 'customfirmware' will in the end lead to piracy.. So Sony is better of just leaving OtherOs in there (and even add support for RSX) so the hacking isn't needed anymore, which will put the 'smartpeople' to rest because they can do with the PS3 what they want, and the PS3 is safe from piracy for yet another long time. there are 2 things that's holding bakc pc-gaming..: 1. too much difference in end-user GPU/CPU performances.. one of the problems a developer faces is the variety of users, you cannot only target the high-end pc's and you also must keep in mind the lowest-specced pc's. But by the time you are finished the difference has advanced enormously between a high-end and low-end.. these days about every other month there is a new GPU which is even faster as the one before that.. The biggest market isn't the high-end (most 'gamers' don't have triple SLI hexa-core PC's).. 2. too much piracy on the PC.. well some of you will effectivly deny this, but piracy is another big factor why publishers aren't investing less and less money into new PC games (without it being a console-'port'). Piracy is also a problem on the Wii and xbox360, but compares to the PC it's very small.. PS3 still hasn't got any piracy (yet) so that platform is even more interesting for publishers now (Except for the slightly more difficult architechture). Personally I'm also beginning to think consoles are a better target for developing especially because it's fixed hardware, and 'we' learn more and more about using that hardware instead of relying on consumer to just buy a better CPU/GPU or more memory (the latter is actually the biggest problem with the current consoles especially the PS3).. The only problem with consoles is the controllers which makes it harder to do certain types of games..

I'm not fixed on one vendor, but after the trouble I had I'm not confident enough to buy another ATI card again even tough (at this moment) they seem to be the better bang for your buck in benchmarks, but that's the problem with benchmarks, they never test the durability of a card (which ofcourse is also difficult to do)..
