I get so tired of people asking which iPod they should get. I always suggest trying another brand besides Apple. People don't understand the limitations of the proprietary package they are buying into, and usually end up not caring even after my lecture. (I promise, it's a gentle lecture) I don't think there is as much a monopoly as Apple's marketing has worked. So it can't play some other company's proprietary file format, your loss for buying in!
Does no one on here know anyone that has two? One for personal use and one for work? I've known of a few people who have that setup. It's a little different than having a home land line and a work land line because you have to actually carry the two phones, but it's not that different or unusual in concept.
What doesn't EA have the rights to? They should do something really absurd with this power, like create a LOTR/NFL style Sims game. There, that about covers every demographic!
Did it really have a huge number of revisions? If so, what were they? Were there multiple SKUs? I never owned a PS2, but I never heard of any revisions. Not that I don't believe you, but I wish to make the point that all those revisions must have been transparent to the consumer. Shrinking is a benefit that is visible. Adding a larger hard drive is visible. If its not a marketable change or one that effects the price point, Joe Consumer doesn't care.
I am still in the camp that all these people breaking their [insert here] by losing their grip on the Wiimote is ludicrous. I have had my Wii since launch and I have not even once had a situation where the strap saved me from heaving the Wiimote becuase I lost grip. I haven't lost my grip yet. I am more worried about wacking the person next to me!
Could Nintendo made a better wrist strap? YES. Is it their fault that meatheaded people are swinging their arms like idiots when I can make the same results by moving the Wiimote only inches? WELL, they should have thought of that. Are they doing the right thing regardless of the variables? YES. I don't think they need to, but its really cool to see a company step up and take care of something before they are TOLD to.
I posted this in the Two Weeks of Wii thread, but this seems more appropriate here.
I'll admit. If I look in the mirror I might just see a Nintendo flavored Kool-Aid mustache.
But...
I am all for the new innovation the Wiimote offers, but after playing Zelda TP for about 20 hours, I really don't think its integration with the Wii is anything special. I understand it was originally a GameCube game, but even as great as the game is, I think it still is a GameCube game for the Wii. Where with Wii Sports the movements of the players mimic what you do, with Zelda you just shake the Wiimote when you want Link to strike with his sword. I noticed in the E3 vids showing gameplay of Mario Galaxy (or whatever its called) you shake the Wiimote to do a superwarp or superjump. That struck me as weird, like it wasn't an instinctive motion. Why can't you just map that to a button? Did you need to put the motion sensitivity in there somewhere so sword equals jiggle the Wiimote, THERE YOU GO? If the motion can be replaced by a button, I don't see it causing excitement. I see a lot of developers thinking "How can we incorporate the wiggle?" I hope soon enough they figure out how this new interface really works. Hopefully Trauma Center and Elebits can be used for a future template on why there is motion sensitivity in the first place!

After unsuccessfully store hopping before the sun came up on Sunday, I went to a local furniture and electronics store Monday morning. They were not open on Sunday so they sold their stock of Nintendos the next day. I showed up ten minutes before opening and there was already a good sized group there. Someone told me to sign "the list". I found a list, put myself down as #31 and crossed my fingers. As the door opened we found our way to the service area where they were being sold. People were arranging the line according to the ordering on the list. Here is where it gets interesting... The list was not generated for the business. The list was created and handled by the MOB! There was an orderly mob in charge of the Wii launch at this store! It boggled my mind!
There were 36, I got one. My girlfriend who doesn't like videogames nearly at all loved the interface! ("Wow that new Nintendo is small!", "What a cute little controller!", "This is fun because I am doing the action not pushing confusing buttons!") You should have seen the smile on her face when the lightbulb went on in her head connecting her movement to the action on the tv. Another victory for Nintendo.
I have a feeling Sony has something to do with this. *start playing that ominous music*
So they will be offering a Wii bundle for $700. Thats a curious price point. Do you think there is a chance that even with all that is packed into that deal some morons will start comparing that price to the price of a PS3? Then their backwards thinking minds will go back and think about how its cool to think Nintendo sucks or some garbage and think that they will get more by putting down $700 for a PS3 than for that Ginsu-style prize package they put with the Wii? No sale for Nintendo, sale stolen by Sony?
I sometimes get behind the tech curve. Back in 2002 I was interested in getting a "next gen" game system. One of the benefits to this was being able to play DVD movies. So instantly the GameCube was out of the running. The other factor was that I wanted Halo, so you know what my decision ended up being. Back then it was a deal breaker for me. DVDs had only been out 4 or 5 years and were still the new exciting technology. Well if you are anything like me, these days you have a standalone DVD player, a current or next gen game system that plays DVDs, a DVDRom in your computer... The point is that, even considering the line I used to open this whole rant, today I have 4 ways to play a dvd. I don't see how the DVD functionality in the Wii matters even one small bit. Its just not the deal breaker it once was.
Believe it or not, every detail of every scene in the movie is very intentional.
Every note of every song on an album is very intentional to the album as a whole. Removing a song is like removing a scene from a movie.
Let's sit down and watch the Dukes of Hazzard and I would like you to defend everything in that movie on its artistic integrity.
EXACTLY! Because if there was any lesson to to the movie Dead Poets Society, it was that the value of a poem could be quantified on a chart!

42?
You might have that backwards...
Doug,
Why aren't you in charge of NASA?
Sincerely,
Space Geeks
Lorne Michaels + Out of the loop = me crazy suspicious
Tell that to those european soccer leagues.

Damn, you beat me to it. :(
That should read Skynet, not Skyhook
M.U.L.E.
You left out the obligatory: "Wii still outselling Vista"
at LEAST one, maybe more.

Am I completely off my rocker?
Starting to die? Lucky you. I dated a girl who was on her THIRD PS2. Sony's inflated sales numbers, INDEED!
