Well, I believe carrying a concealed weapon is illegal in Australia... Victoria atleast. I spose its a law that differs per state. Why wouldn't it be illegal? Theres no good reason to be carrying a knife.

Kinda related.:p The above link shows startup times on basically the same machine, one running Vista one running XP. (I'll give you a hint, the XP machine demolishes vista:p)
I've got 2 IntelliMouse Explorer 3.0's that I absolutely love. I think I bought the first 5-6 years ago and is still going strong. Bought another 2 (4-5 years? And 1?), all still going strong.:)
Yeah, you really don't. The amount of bandwidth goes up with the amount of players in a server. The server reports the position of a player, and any actions it might be performing... for example a grenade has been thrown from here with this trajectory. It will also report any kind of moveable objects. Map size doesn't come into it, since its only sending out information on the people and their locations, not every square inch of the map.
As for TCP vs UDP. UDP is connectionless, so it has no overhead, while TCP does. Games rely on UDP, as is my understanding, but still use TCP for a few things.
As for how much bandwidth a 16 player game of Halo uses.. I would think it would be about 10-15kB/s. CS is usually higher than that, about 15kB while a game of Gears of War is alot lower.. perhaps 5-10kB, but generally most 360 games are pretty good bandwidth wise. (I'm trying to judge speed based on my download usage, so these numbers aren't exactly accurate.:p)
Thats crazy! Why would you charge someone for receiving a call?:\ Down under its the sender/caller that gets charged (cept with MMS I think, which is done via the data thing-a-ma-jig?), which is handy when my prepaid credit runs out, I can still know whats going on.
"Apparently they're so allergic to this strange and terrifying console that they've shoved the port onto some EA team."
Wow, or perhaps its because development on the 360 is similar to the PC?
And wow, Gabe said he doesn't like the console because its completely different to how they develop games for the PC. Sounds like he has a right to express an opinion that he doesn't like it. Go cry in the corner PS3 fanboy.
While I agree, the Half Life series is great.. but I think it would have to go Ocarina -> GoldenEye -> Half Life 1 and then 2.
Ocarina was just such and awesome game, everything was perfect. Great storyline and gameplay, great graphics and sound.:)
What does it matter..the total amount of Safari for Windows users is what? A few thousand? He was definitely irresponsible putting all of those people who decided to try out beta software in harms way. [/endsarcasm]
What did he achieve? He managed to make Apple look stupid with their crap about how secure they are. He wasn't even trying and find holes in their software.
Oh and I own two Macs before anyone calls me a fan boy of something else.
You must be another one of those annoying Mac developers who makes people pay for EVERYTHING. Grr, my number 1 annoyance with Macs, I can never find any software, and the one I can find costs me like $50.
"you don't know when you're going to cross from the top to the bottom layer and hence the game may glitch (very noticably) for a 1/4 second."
Err, except as you said, this isn't a movie, and we aren't streaming the content, so we won't see the glitch since the loading is done in the background.
Yeah, but they're not very practical, since you have to move your left hand away from the 'home' keys and your right is almost certainly on the mouse. Its my number one annoyance on the Mac as well for various browsers.. Alt + L, sure, D may not make sense, but its easier.:p
Not always. It can be kinda like saying we'll make our brillant DirectX 10 only engine compatible with DirectX 7. Only problem with that is, you've gone and built your engine and the process with which you handle textures depends on some special feature that only DirectX 10 has.
Sure, you could completely re-write the process.. and then perhaps change the parts that depended on that process cos of how you've re-done it, but would it really be worth it? You'd be better off writing a new engine from scratch to get better performance.:p
Imo of course, I could be wrong and its all just flicking a switch or something:p
No, its because the Wii's graphics card isn't capable of doing the kind of things that this engine is designed for, which is obviously delivering realistic graphics, which isn't the focus of the Wii.
Seems abit stupid to gut the main feature out of the engine just to get it to work, only to have an engine equivalent of the previous generation..
I could be wrong, but didn't they say the Unreal 2 engine would work fine on the Wii?
Or it just means we don't give a crap about Linux, and are supporting the majority of users? (which is the most important thing.. right?!)
Bloody Linux users thinking they're the most important thing in the world.

Err.. isn't carrying knives illegal?
Because thats what linux needs, MORE distros. *sigh*

But won't they have to prove that the song was downloaded 750 times? :p

Does that mean Google has to ask every country whether or not if it approves the buyout... or just the pain in the arse ones?

AT&T aren't subsidising the iPhone as far as I'm aware.
TCPA ftl. :(

Since when are we the terrorism capital of the world? Road side bombs..ha

Doesn't US copyright/patent law apply in Australia because of the free trade agreement?
