So the solution to "Gimp is lagging behind Photoshop because they do not have feature X" is to not put feature X in Gimp even though it is available and people would like to use it? That is a lot like "Hey, Visual Studio just came up with this incredible new way to debug, lets not ever put it in any free IDE so that we can continue to program slower and with more bugs, but at least people won't say we copied the feature!"
Who cares if the consumer does not show up to receive the service he paid for?
The problem is that, at least in Mexico, most of the time the student is not paying for tuition but his parents are, and they do care that their spoiled idiot of a son who does not care about his own education enough to, you know, go to class is being forced to learn something
Well hello there Mr. Obnoxious American and Mr. Pretentious Brit. Now, as you may or (more likely) may not be aware, the Metric system of measurements was established in the Metre convention in 1875. We use metres. You're entitled to use feet if you like, but every time you do everyone else has a quiet chuckle to himself, rolls his eyes at both of you and carries on in his usual measured manner.
There is also the problem that most of the technology that humans have created is expecting you to have two legs: want to ride a bike? You'll need two legs, want to operate heavy machinery? You'll need two legs.
Making a robot that has human-like features allows the robot to use normal human tools which is fairly important for widespread use (you would not need a special vacuum robot, you could buy a general purpose robot with two arms and two legs and give him your current vacuum).
NOTE: I do realize that the moon is not a normal case, but your post seems to imply the general push for 2-legged robots, not this specific case
Man the guns! Destroy this fascist, draconian dictatorship that is Comedy Central! Do not allow them to control what we think by bleeping parts of episodes they air just because they received a death threat!! Because, you know, adbge would continue making fun of Islamics even if they threatened to kill him.
Wouldn't that be fairly bad for Gizmondo? I mean, if it is true then Chinese cell phone makers are able to make cheaper copies of the iPhone that magazines are going crazy about. I mean, from TFA: "the finish is so perfect that it feels right out of the factory", "How it feels? Freaking amazing"
And if it eventually turns out to be a Chinese copy Gizmondo would have to address it and look incredibly bad "Oh yeah, we didn't realize it was just a pirate copy. Now that we think about it, it wasn't so amazing"
Unless you actually enjoy your work. I would prefer working many hours in a project I enjoy because I really like coding.
But I think both OP and GP are a bit extreme. Working 10 hour weeks yet be paid full 40 hour weeks sounds cheap, but just resting 10 minutes in a full 8 hours seems like too much work and no rest, which will burn you down pretty quickly.
Actually, if Google manages to do no evil and also get an advantage for themselves (and for their community) that would make them a great company, if they made it because of PR is irrelevant.

So if I get this right, you bought a linux machine that you just have to jailbreak for it to work as a complete linux machine?
Facebook apparently believes that its users will continue using the site regardless of the ridiculous access policies that their legal department create and defend. I hope they're wrong.
I'm afraid the average Facebook user is a teen who is more worried with getting a higher score in whatever Flash game she is currently playing than in FB's access policies for computers.
[Three nines (eight hours of downtime per year)] might even be good enough for a DRM server.
It depends, if I only play eight hours a year and those eight hours miraculously fall on the eight hours of downtime then I'm in a pretty bad spot, and that is considering I live in a developed country where the ISP gets four nines, things aren't so good elsewhere.
32-bit elementary stream number? Are they anticipating files with four billion elementary streams? An eight-bit field, if not smaller, would seem more appropriate here.
Why not, how many languages are there around the world? If you need to bring out a media file with subtitles and audio-tracks for each language, braille instructions and who knows what else for open access to certain media, you might want to use more than 256 streams.
I know I'm nitpicking but according to wikipedia there are around 514 languages. Which does make the four billion streams seem wasteful, even if you wanted to add subtitles, audio tracks, braille instructions, different camera views and director's commentary in Ter Sami for the two native speakers of that language.
I agree that these formats should be planning for the future and a big stream number allows for that (640kb ought to be enough for anybody, right?) but I find four billion streams a bit excessive.
But it also costs ten times as much as that! Trying to trick me? I don't think so!
Because people where you live do not care about a cell phone that actually lets them own their own hardware.

No!! Please!! Don't!!! Continue using their free software, please!!
Mmm... Delicious, juicy rocks

they said my receipt was past the 60-day return limit so "sorry we can't exchange sizes".
Really? It took you more than 60 days to notice that your underwear was smaller than it was supposed to be?

Really? It is better now? I left Kubuntu after 9.10 because I just couldn't take it anymore, I loved KDE too much to see it in such a bad state.
Quick Quetzal

I'm paying for a product, not to play lawyer.
Unless said product is Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney
I'd rather work in his job than yours

Actually the "4G" refers to the price. I hope they have a payment plan.
Yes! Just a couple days of grinding in WoW!
Of course, if Jediism had as visible a spokesman as Tom Cruise, there'd be no question.
Maybe he does not have the same visibility as Tom Cruise, but this George Lucas guy backs Jediism. From what I've heard he even made a movie about it
