Yeah, I have one where the sound broke after the volume dial broke and fell inside the case. Then there's the line that doesn't show graphics anymore.... I mean, I remember hearing the legend about the one that survived a fire and would still turn on and "ding" but wouldn't play games, so thats pretty dang tought.
The new DS Lites are pretty tough too, I dropped mine from a shirt pocket I had foolishly placed it in. Fell the distance of a small set of steps to a roadway. Only damage was some minor scratch marks which is better than I can say for my Dell laptop which fell 3 feet off a keyboard and nearly split open. CD drive hasn't been quite proper since.
Einhander was such a brilliant game, its on my list of games that that have sadly lost their place in time like the Star Tropics series and Beyond Good & Evil.
I would hope that the FBI would be sensible enough to get some of their experts to check the information to see that the hacker's story matched up.
Or maybe you could move to Russia so you wouldn't have to guess as to whether the governement was watching you.
The gay community is still part of the human race and will need people to reproduce someday too. I'm sure they don't want only deformed children up for adoption.
Yeah, also its by 2011, so the PS3 will have slashed its prices by then resulting in more sales. And by that point at least one or two games on the guy-who-is-holding-out's list will come up (coughfinalfantasyxiiicoughmetalgearsolid4coughcou gh) so they'll have bought one.
I'm personally just going on a name basis. Lets face it, Blue-Ray is a much cooler name than HD. Thats how I chose N'Sync over the Backstreet Boys... I mean, um...
Hmmm, maybe Blizzard should try being like Maple Story or some of those other crazy free Korean games. They're usually free, which you couldn't do with WoW, but you make some stuff buyable from the company. So the people who don't want to spend a lot of time *coulosersgh* could get straight to the PvP and compete while those who want the actual gameplay questing experience could do that. But of course you would stick like.. A permanent $ on their name so people would know where they got their "Sweet gear". Also the gear would have to permanently keep that status or they would just trade it to someone and back to get rid of it. Or if Blizzard would just sell gold for money itself, then it wouldn't be a problem. Well, unless the farmers sold it for less... But then it would be like buying a feature movie that someone burned on their DVD burner, or shopping in the Phillippines.
Yeah, if you read the article it feels like the writer wants games to disassociate from other mediums and become more its own medium through immersion of the player in the experience. I'm personally more on Terran's side here, games can be a storytelling medium just like other popular mediums.
However I can see the original articles side too, games are distinct in their immersive nature and it is questionable if merely pure immersion can make us cry. But a game cannot be utterly immersive with current technology.... So lets turn to Science Fiction here.
The Holodeck of Star Trek: The Next Generation could be described as the ultimate video game experience, by what I understand to be the article's meaning, in that it is utterly immersive(Well, shy of The Matrix). Now, something that is sometimes mentioned in the show is a "Holo-Novel" or a book or old movie brought to life for the person to take on the guise of a character in that story and live as that character, experiencing things as though for yourself (Minus any actual dying due to safety protocols). Now, if emotions could be properly derived from the simple total immersion into something there would be no need for these "Holo-novels" right? Admittedly it IS science fiction, but I think actual conclusions would be the same in reality, that there is desire in the medium for a story, for uncontrollable events.
For an example anyone should be able to relate too, even Pac-Man had its automatic stage progression. After you finish a stage you aren't given the choice to just roam around an empty maze, the creators send you to the next stage. And there was even some story here with the little comical scenes in between stages. Could you control these scenes? No. Does anyone really care? No. Why? Because people LIKE things like that. They like to take a break and get taken for a little ride now and then.
Commercial announcement: "You've seen giant snake movies before, but this time they're not just cold blooded! They're Cold *Scene Flash* As *Scene Flash* Steel!" *Shocking Scene Flash!* SCREAM!!! "This Saturday at 9... Only on Sci-Fi."
Its true, thats what happened with the Oblivion topless mod also. Of course, thats not the reason the rating was changed on that game (Thankfully), but thats what it was, undeleted content that a user was never supposed to access while playing the game.
I read in Game Informer that ESRB is changing its policy so that the game developers can't leave that kinda stuff lying around in the final product anymore. I guess its kinda like if a new restaurant opened and the inspector came and checked out the restaurant but didn't check a closet full of things that the owners said were "Junk we didn't use in making the restaurant" and some day a kid opens the closet while roaming the restaurant looking for the bathroom and several erotic paintings fall out. Is the restaurant at fault?
I was waiting for someone to mention it. If no one had I was going to be very disappointed and mention it myself.
But seriously it was the first thing that came to mind. All we need now is a Ninja and a guy who uses an anime convention as his code name.
Well see, the next thing will be either robots or clones. This is because that's what they will use to get rid of the terrorists eventually, and when its over they'll realize they can't trust the robots (Who are disguised like the Terminators and thus could easily sneak into somewhere) or the clones (Who may have been influenced by the genetics of the individual they cloned... And they aren't really human anyway so a rebellion is inevitable, better stop them now). Thats pretty much how its going to go down... Well unless a Democrat gets elected.
I make no claim to being a physicist or even a scientist (Except perhaps in a philosophical sense where we're all scientists of life or something) but I thought I would share my impressions of the discussion here to see if I got the general feel about String Theory right.
(Note: Stuff in parenthesis is directly relating to Anime/DBZ, to more effectively bridge the analogy)
It's basically the Dragonball Z of Physics. It used to be really cool, but then people realized there was no real point to it and its actually kinda flakey, but it got popular in the general media so lots of people who know nothing about the rest of the stuff think its true/good. So a lot of "Physicists" who could be spending time on other more useful studies (To bring back in anime, watching a better series like Escaflowne or Nadesico) are instead wasting time on a problem (series) that really doesn't (seem to) have an end or definite benefit to physics (anything). Afterwards, upon reflection, there were some cool ideas, but there wasn't really much gained from the endevour except perhaps to say "Yeah, I studied string theory pretty extensively, but it was kinda pointless in the end." (Relate to DBZ...)
Anyway, that was my impression of what I read. Ha, I think I'm actually harder on DBZ than it deserves, but whatever. Hope you find the analogy amusing if nothing else.

Wait... You can fit yours in your pocket? Where did you find these magical pockets?

They were originally were just going to have robots turn into cars and stay that way, but the idea was quickly scrapped and turned into Knight Rider

So, could it be used instead of those horrid scraping things to remove plaque do you suppose?
I don't think so, was your post supposed to stand for something funny?
