  1. Re:Where does the personality go? on Mitochondria and the Prevention of Death · · Score: 0

    I don't believe that's how it happens.

The brain is like random access memory, not a hard drive. If there is no charge of SOME kind, the information is lost. If there is a weak charge, the information could stay, but is probably going to get a little screwed up.

If suspended animation did work, the brain would still have to be charged, perhaps in an artificial coma of some sort. If there is no charge, the information just ceases to be, like in RAM. I'm almost willing to bet a years worth of salary on that.

Let's face it, the fact that you could get a yeast infection from anal is not the issue here, nor is it what conservatives are worried about. We all know the real reason why they're "concerned" about homosexual activity, and frankly, it doesn't fucking matter what they think, because they have no right to control two consenting adults and what they do together.

Most of the people who are questioning our part in global warming were at one time questioning the very existence of global warming.

Anyway, he's most obviously in league with the other politicians and cronies. They get a hard-on from covering up stories, lying, and being generally bad people. Why should be believe a damn word he says?

It's just disappointing, is all.. They're supposed to be competitive, but I don't see any busting of their asses to get sales. Intel hasn't impressed me since the p4EE. Even that was only okay...

I'm not a greedy asshole.. I'm pissed off because I don't really believe that the gas price should be as high as it is, at all. Not just in the USA, either. Something is awry.

Why don't you go back to your cave and buy more crappy products like a good little consumer whore.

If you're going to support the mafIAA, at least make sure you've got a signature saying something about how much of a tool you are, so we know who to ignore. Do you work for them? Did they pay you money to insult people into paying for shitty inferior products and music?

By the way, I do pay for products and music. Nearly every game I have was paid for. I own about 100 CDs of independent musicians, whether it be punk rock or electronic. I also pirate some titles when I'm stuck with them as the only option. Bad business practices does not demand my respect, much less my hard earned money. Why would I pay 400 +/- USD for a photo editing program to which there is a free clone of available on Linux?

This isn't about legality anymore, I don't care anymore. This is about right and wrong, good and evil.

    Blow it our your ass.

  25. There are the radicals among us.... on Is RIAA's Linares Affidavit Technically Valid? · · Score: 1

There are those of us who believe that piracy is an appropriate way of obtaining software, music, and other files, depending on the situation.

For myself, it's not so much that I believe stealing is acceptable, because I don't. It's a form of disrespect, showing my complete disgust for companies who dare to charge money for their crappy products, or for companies who hold monopolies on certain markets.

I paid for vista upgrade, and did a full install with it. It'll be a cold day in hell that I'll pay extra to get the same thing. I paid for some of my music CDs, the one's that are worth it (they actually need my money), and the ones I could actually find at stores. If they're only mediocre, or they're completely not existent in record stores, I download it. If the software is crappy, but I need it because of a monopoly, I pirate it. If there is any reason why I believe the company is inherently evil, I pirate their products. If they charge 400 dollars for a simple photo editing suit, I pirate it.

Stop shitty business practices, and the piracy will slow, I guarantee it. It won't stop, because there are greedy people out there, but I'm sure it will slow down.

I'm lucky that I don't download any music that is actually under the RIAAs thumb. I tend to stick to electronic artists and punk artists who literally want you to copy and share their music. That's a true musician anyway, IMO. Ironically, I give these people money for their products if possible.

I'm not one to be muscled out of my money, not by a mugger, and not by a corporation. I'd rather go down fighting and stabbing back.

    - A Pirate. ARRRRRRRRRRR!
