I'm running an up-to-date Gentoo install, and have never knowingly touched that file. I just tried logging in as root, except typing only the first 8 characters of my password and then garbage. It didn't let me in.
Heh, me too - but if I were to tweak something now, that wouldn't make it any more "home" than it was before. That's simply a home improvement (like putting up some new shelves) rather than a complete redecoration when you move in.
The question seems to be about how long it takes your customisation process to bring your machine to a point where it's "yours" - never mind how long that process continues afterwards.
No, GNU/Linux doesn't have a default GUI. I guess the default for GNU/Linux is not to have a GUI, since Linux (obviously) doesn't have one and to my knowledge GNU doesn't produce one.
Certain *distros* have a default GUI, which could be GNOME, KDE or any of the other myriad desktop environments/window managers out there.
In an industrial setting, it certainly is easier to manufacture from sheet steel.
However, this doesn't apply everywhere - I'm planning on building my own case soon, and since I don't have the facilities for metalworking it's going to be made from wood.
I'm English and I'm just as likely to say "March 14th" or "March the 14th" as I am to say "14th of March". But of course that could just be an Americanism that's crept into my way of speaking.
Thinking about it logically, you'd think that Coulombs course through things (and current is the rate at which they do this). So why does that sound wrong?
This would be pretty easy to do. Just watch sites like alluc and peekvid for new content, then go to the relevant provider and take it down. In fact I don't know why they don't already do this...
Cymru? Not yet, then - it's still mostly Labour...
Hey Hitler, long time no see!
Got kicked out of Hell then, did you?

You mean Nazism, right? Granted, certain civil liberties have been eroded, but I don't think things are that bad yet...
Internet!
The problem is friction. What they've done now is applied our new network smoothening paste, TubeLube!

Heh, I've heard that phrase before.
You wouldn't happen to be a B3tan, would you?
I stand corrected.
Mod this man informative!

Ha, now "Failure" and "Miserable Failure" point to a BBC article documenting the phenomenon :)

Maybe I'll emigrate once I've got my degree - I'll see how things are a year or two down the line.
For now I'm relieved that I've just arranged to get my passport this Tuesday - I think I dodged a bullet!
Hmm, I don't know - "arse" certainly has more of a ring to it...

Sure you can get DC sound. It's called wind.
Seeing as technology generally becomes obsolete in around 6 years, I'd say something just under 2 is closer to 17...
Why, should it?
...and I for one welcome our Norton engine-running virus-free overlords from the future!
No, it's more like a big pair of woolly earmuffs. Or double glazing.

Bring back DangerMouse? Never! Any enemy of a giant toad is an enemy of mine!

You mean other countries have them as well?
That's a thought simply too horrible to contemplate...
I doubt they know the Favourites menu exists.
People like this are scared to click *anything* in a program that they don't use on an hourly basis.
