Are PC games typically discounted such that someone can buy four copies of the PC game for the price of one copy of a console game? Because that's what it would take to make up for the difference in the multiplayer paradigm between the two markets.

Yeah, pretty much. Steam Sells "4 packs" of a lot of multiplayer games where you can buy 3 copies and get 1 free. This is especially awesome when that game goes on sale. For Example this Christmas Left 4 Dead 2 was 75% off so you could either buy the game for $5 instead of $20, or a 4 pack for $15 and gift the rest. Of course once activated you can't trade /loan/ re-gift a steam game but given the price I'm ok with that.

All they have to do is sell the games cheap and DRM-free to turn pirates into customers.

You do know the Humble indie bundle was pirated even though you could set your own price, and that even some of the people who bought it, paid a dollar or less for it. Simply put, there's too many Eurotrash and Second World pirates out there who simply aren't willing to pay for ANY intellectual property.

Any yet they are now pulling in over 2 million dollars every time they do one and for (mostly) games that have limited to know advertising budget and no built in audience. They are also typically older games at the "long end of the sales cycle" where sales dollars are sparse. So despite having some content pirated, they also made a bunch more money than if they hadn't done the HIB... it's about profit maximization.

The Wii would be good for FPS if the fucking cursor actually pointed where the Wiimote is pointing and it had sufficient precision. Alas, neither of those things are true. It's just a big, clumsy, imprecise floating mouse. For FPS it's worse than an analogue stick, let alone a mouse.

Disagree, I prefer the Wiimote to analog stick AND KB / mouse and all I had to do was "learn to close the drapes" when I play. The wiimote is looking for the 2 points on the sensor bar as fixed points to triangulate from but that big bay window in the living room let it too much sun light so the remote couldn't tell where the fixed points are and I got "studder". If you play a game that Allows you to calibrate your bounding box (Metroid Prime 3/ Trilogy, Medal of Honor Heroes 2, the Conduit etc...) then the control and the immersion beats anything else available.

The Humble Indie Bundle said that their most requested feature was Steam support. It just blew me away that people would be so dependent that they would be asking for DRM.

Because it isn't SOLELY DRM for the publisher, it's a service to the costumer as well. It's convenient to have an account with all your games and potentially cloud saves wherever you go, and be able to install on any machine you own on a whim without worrying about having the cd's, codes or any of that. The reason Steam WORKS at ALL for customers is because most people are inherently lazy. Valve offered a system to manage all the games you own, install on multiple pc's, cloud saves, auto-patching (even when idle, but logged in), an "offline mode" (which is increasingly disappearing from PC games), no "CD checks" (which is great for us net book owners) and achievements.

Steam IS DRM, but it provides a service, which is why I support it. I will however not buy any game over Steam that uses any additional form of DRM as it would only offer complications and aggravation.

I also understand that the DRM free games from HiB contain many of these features but not all. Personally I've been a big HiB supporter from the beginning and have something like 7 or 8 "download pages" all registered to the same email address. If I want to install one of those games I would rather boot steam than jump to each of those sites until I guess/ grab the right one. Once again, Steam keeps things simple.

Motion plus does nothing to the pointer. If you are getting Jitter you are probably in a room with too much light (sunlight's the worst) washing over the front of the Wiimote. The sensor bar is nothing but 2 lights the wiimote uses as fixed points to calculate where it is in relation to the screen, if there are too many lights near it (or a window), the wiimote can't properly distinguish where those points are an jitters.

To test this Try playing a Game in complete darkness (only have the TV and Wii on), and stand between 3-10 feet away and watch how smooth the pointer is. From there look at anything that's generating IR light like a window, candles and other light sources. Not knowing your setup, I'd assume you have too much sunlight in the living room. My parents have a Big BAY window that needs the curtains drawn to be able to play anything.

Hopefully that helps, and even though I haven't played golden eye a FANTASTIC FPS game to try on Wii is Metroid Prime 3 (or the Conduit, or Medal of Honor Heroes 2), the controls are tight and it's well worth a play. happy gaming.
