    .. the only reason we dont do this with nuclear waste now is that the cost-to-orbit sucks, but for a reactor on the moon or already in space, most of the cost is absorbed already.

    Well, that and the danger of a launch or post-launch-pre-orbit accident a-la Challenger. Acid rain wouldn't compare to what would happen with that stuff coming back down on us.

    After all, that's exactly why movies use shady-looking guys as villains, because we all know what that guy looks like.

    I agree with you. What interests me is, why do we all "know what that guy looks like" in the first place? My assumption (yeah yeah) is that this is survival programming.

    At the same time though, many of us have probably experienced getting acquainted with someone after having had only visual exposure to them for some time (perhaps at work or something), and realizing that our assumptions of the nature their character were entirely wrong.

    No games on Linux means not many gamers using Linux. Not many gamers using Linux means no games for Linux.

    I hate to say it, but at least in my case you're correct. Windows isn't the best of breed, but I can do almost everything I want with it and still play a wide variety of titles; that is precisely the reason why I have not bought a Mac and don't run Linux at home. :(

    SlySoft's AnyDVD and CloneDVD, used in conjunction, will allow you to back up DVDs and play them on any computer and any DVD player (at least, I've not had one NOT work yet on a device).

    There was talk all during the Pleistocene era that every year, *next* year was going to be *the* year of the Neaderthal. Sadly, though they thrived for a time and may have been structurally superior to their competitors in some ways, there weren't enough adopters of this "open-source" community to keep them in strong contention for worldwide dominance.

    I believe we're discussing cases where a religious organization is attempting to control/influence/use the government. Whether Bush is Lutheran or Baptist or whatnot doesn't mean that those groups have motives to gain control -- the individual in power is simply putting his/her personal moral views into their policy-making efforts.
