The services I pay for are more involved than sending a list of TV shows and their start times. (information which you can get for free from a variety of sources)
If I could buy a fully functional mobile phone without paying monthly fees, I'd sign up.
others above you touched on it, but either listed goofy equations with strange numbers (15/mo cable?? where is that deal), or didnt cover the entire issue.
If I purchase a 200 dollar box, I better be done shelling out cash for the thing.
and yet Comcast gets progressively faster every year.
maybe not quite up to your expectations, but I have something like 12-15 mbps down now. using the "standard internet package".
thats a hell of a lot better than the 1.54mbps I got when comcast broadband first came out a decade ago.
I think your doomsday predictions about "evil mega-corporations" are a bit much.
I have no idea where you are getting that from. Sounds like some 1970s flub.
In the past, you could tell artificial diamonds from natural ones because of imperfections, but with today's technology, you can't tell even with a microscope.
Yea, and it backfired for Nintendo. They may be on top, but they could be standing taller.
The hype that sold a lot of Wii's was the motion feedback. I waited outside a now defunct Circuit City twice in the early mornings when the Wii first came out but was unable to secure a device. Now, how many years later, I stopped caring. I saw a few and wasnt overly impressed with the graphics or performance of the motion-sensing.
Too much scarcity will derail thousands of impulse buyers.
That 3-D lizard looks like Hi-Res crap IMO, and don't get me started on the Pigs.
I'm not sure how you can even argue that the movements would be similar. Going from 2-D animations, frame by frame, to 3-D models that must move around?
This is a Duke Knock-off, quit calling it what it aint.
It not only has tons of extensions, (all the basics included, like Ad Blocking, Gmail Checker, etc) but has a fantastic way to search for them... on par with Mozillas plug-in search.
I agree, if I even bothered to RTFA, I would have stopped reading at that point.
The issue is that in the beginning we where told that nothing you could buy for "real money" would give you an advantage over non-paying players.
oh well, cry me a river. shut up.
its like the 10th time i've read this crybaby post. EULAs and Contracts change constantly everywhere, complain to the company, not us, we get it, you're crybaby bitches.
hammer the network so much that you get more while others suffer.
The bit-torrent argument is slightly inappropriate due to the fact I do not see constant, all-day file-sharing becoming common place on mobile phones in the near future. (primarily due to battery issues) This is for downloading an attachment, or more likely, many separate images to load a website faster. I do not expect many people will use this technology to download a blu-ray movie from mininova with an down/up ratio of 1:1.
It may encourage people to perform more internet-related activities, but if they spend less time pulling data, then others should not suffer the way you are expecting.
I agree. It's perfect for my work environment when I have to smash something together via-screenshots for management without rough-looking fonts that paint.exe provides.
It has a few annoyances with multiple layers, but I can work around em. But it's free.
Although a bit off-topic, it gets even crazier with Tape vs Digital equipment.
When you master certain tracks together, there are subtle changes that take place when you use actual tape. You no longer have two, three, or more distinct tracks, but rather they blend together in a way that Digital music equipment has yet to emulate, which is why Tape is still so heavily used. When you merge these Digital tracks together, you lose some of those subtle combinations and equalizations that you get when you use old-school Tape.
Over time I do believe Digital will be able to emulate these differences very precisely, but as of yet, especially at lower-end studios, you certainly lose some of the mastering capabilities with digital tracks. Think about the first generation digital cameras. They stunk compared to high quality film.
Current economic uranium resources will last for over 100 years at 2006 consumption rates, while it is expected there is twice that amount awaiting discovery. With reprocessing and recycling, the reserves are good for thousands of years.[42]
that's ok, i forgive you.

I was actually going to say they should subsidize the 200 dollars, since you need a monthly subscription anyway.
I mean comeon, the thing is a hard drive + some simple software. 600 bucks when mass-produced seems terribly overpriced.
i would mod you up if i could.

...because that sounds ridiculously slow/annoying/complex for 800 PCs.
gotta love the 'token Linux' reply without thinking about their response first.

yes, if your mirror can reflect infrared/visible and ultraviolet light to a significant percent.

Get some up to date info buddy!!
I'd like to see you turn any car off when it's in gear.
I know first-hand that you cannot turn the car off if the transmission is set to 'Drive'. It gets locked in the On position.
Go ahead and try it out in your driveway. I bet you can't do it.

Amen brother.
Happy new year I suppose.
Adding 3-D Models to a classic game does not make it better.

That sounds completely different than the game I fell in love with.
I tried a remake of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles on the XBox similar to what you described above. And it completely sucked, it wasn't the same game.

how angry does that make you? you nerdy little bastard.
Don't worry, 'ideal' is identical to 'theoretical' in my mind.
Pretty much everything should perform better and/or look good. But in my experience, it always falls short.
the safe wasnt designed to be impenetrable, but "rated to resist forced entry for five minutes." (per the flickr description).
I guess the army determined that after 5 minutes of hacking away with your sledge, someone would come to see what the fuss was about.
After I graduated and put my CS degree to use, 60 bucks isn't as bad as it used to be.
well, without the radar bubble showing you where the cops stop searching for you, it will be more difficult, but not impossible.
