    The big companies want people with degrees who have done hard time on an actual campus lugging books around in a backpack, talking face to face with profs and grad students, and drinking crappy coffee in a student union while sweating multiple deadlines. Online degrees don't mean squat, as it's not a transformation process, but rather a thin smokescreen.

    I'll call it "we're not afraid . com". We'll use it to let Microsoft and their minion companies know that we are not afraid to use whichever OS we choose. And we'll not let them bully us. Schools also are making a push to eradicate bullies... but I digress. Anyway, this site will allow people to openly proclaim to the MS et al thugs that "we" are not afraid of them. Maybe with pictures, and the like.

    Oh, wait. Someone already registered http://www.werenotafraid.com/ , but it's to let TERRORISTS know that we are not afraid of them. Huh. Go figure.

    Like other posters have said - don't replace your Windows stuff. But if you HAVE to have Linux, you can start by putting Linux at your perimeter. You can make a firewall (Smoothewall) and some smtp proxies with spamassasin and clamav. Start there, and work your way up.

    You're missing the point. Media people (notice I didn't say "journalist") KNOW that science is complex, but they're more in the "let's feed them crap" mode than the "let's be accurate" mode. Big Media (CNN, Fox, NBC, ABC) is just a bunch of sensationalist, government controlled BS. If you want good science, you have to get closer to the source(s).

    Fiduciary responsibilities??? The pharmacutical companies have the US govt in their pockets. They are exempt from any responsibilities. And shareholders don't give a shit as long as they get their money. So, the bottom line is that (as the parent said) they don't want to cure. They want to TREAT you for the rest of your life.

    I don't mean to be inflamatory about this, but the way that companies are being run in Silicon Valley just WREAKS of the Harvard MBA way of doing things. Seriously guys and gals, if you ever have the priveledge of running your own company, don't ever ever hire one of these snakes. You'll find yourself drowning in the bad karma that they'll pump into your company/life. 'Nuff said.

    I have to totally agree with this. Once you recognize the mind/body symbiosis and try to balance it, then a lot of the ADD/depression, etc... symptoms of idol-ness will go away. This isn't a thing of IT, it's a thing of a stationary ass.

    Yes, well, Mr. "Kombat", YOUR country's space shuttles are SO much nicer than our space shuttles. And YOUR Mars rover is so much nicer than OUR Mars rover (race you for pink slips). And YOUR software companies are SO much bigger than OUR software companies. And YOUR standard of living is SO much higher than OURs. I know, I know - stereotypical arrogance (actually, I think our arrogance is greater than the aggregate stereotype). But it's just because we're BETTER than you. So get over it.

    I've been in IT for 10 years and I've worked with Russians, Koreans and Indians. The Russians were better at deep tech stuff ie. as Cisco engineers, Solaris guys and Security guys. The Koreans were better at gadget stuff like cell phones and pda's. The Indians were... kinda in the background rebooting MS servers (at the wrong time). Anyways, haven't worked with Chinese.

    Harvard MBA's are the worst scum on the Earth. I don't know what the cirriculum consists of, but I've dealt with several, and they were both lowly snakes who tried to bring down the company that they worked for. They also steal, slander and bring massive bad karma to wherever they are.
