But if you're like me and you've already got older unused DDR ram lying around that's not really a problem. If you're going to run linux on it you can easily get away with a spare 2 x 256 setup for 512MB. If you don't have any lying around, I see RAM like this on craigslist all the time for pretty cheap.
I'm a little surprised that the Guitar Hero franchise isn't represented on that list. I haven't (purposefully) owned a console since my classic NES but have played on other people's. I've been seriously considering picking up a PS2 specifically for the purpose of wanting to play the Guitar Hero games. The only other console I'm interested in is the Wii. Any other gaming I want to do I've always been able to do quite well on my PC.
I wish I had mod points right now to mod this up. I've been telling people for years how Geometry was one of the things that helped me most with logical/critical thinking - specifically with a bent toward programming.
I just had this discussion last weekend with a friend of mine about how I'd love to see an update of the X-Wing and Tie Fighter games to include a 3D engine. Definitely something I think alot of geeks (especially) would buy.
Of course though, it would be yet ANOTHER way that George Lucas would get me to part with some of my money.
I've been dual booting Edgy on my Intel Mac Mini at work w/o any problem and I ran Dapper before that. I found some good directions online that show how to accomplish this (unfortunately they are at work right now - if you want them, send me an email and I'll email them to you on Monday). In addition to Boot Camp to initially partition the drive, I'm using rEFIt as a boot loader (check it out on SourceForge if you haven't already).
No... I meant iMac. It was a 17" G5 iMac w/ 1.5GB RAM. Really nice computer. Like you said though... that day I just happened to get an incompetent tech.
I've always been impressed with Apple's tech support. As part of my duties at the University I work for, I maintain about 50 iMacs. I've dealt with Apple about a half dozen times for various problems we've had. Each time I've had hardware problems I've been able to have them send a technician to my location without having to bring the computers to an Apple store. We did have one technician once who took 4 hours just to figure out how to open the iMac to replace a bad hard drive but he was the exception and not the rule.
the day they taught law at Law School.
Seriously though, even if he is disbarred, we won't see the last of him. He'll still be out there "fighting the good fight", only just in the media instead of in the court room.
this means that Oracle in the future will probably only be supported on Unbreakable Linux I can dream though that perhaps the more Oracle limits the options available for using their systems, more people/organizations will consider alternatives to their products (i.e. Postgres or MySQL). My personal philosophy is that I choose not to use products that limit how/where I can use them.
At least you don't have to use a putty knife like I did to put ram in my MAC mini. The first time you "crack" one open is a little disconcerting to say the least.
Why use the torrent to d/l when you can just "apt-get dist-upgrade"? It's much easier this way (and it's another one of those "features" that Windows won't likely have for a long time).
IMHO the best "improvements" that XP has over 2K was the built in CD Burning,.zip support, and the ability to fool old programs into thinking they're running on an older OS. Most of this is a non-issue though because there is good software out there that can remedy these missing features of 2K. When I last dual booted XP and 2K on my system at home I found that with a clean install of each OS that XP would boot faster but once booted 2K actually was less of a hog on the system. Not that 3DMark is the best tool for comparison but I would always score higher in 2K vs XP (no extra services or processes running on either OS). XP basically boiled down to eye candy and the addition of features to remove the necessity for some 3rd party utilities.
But that's not the only way XP can crash. Drivers, the software that lets XP communicate with hardware components, can still lock up the system. If you've seen an XP laptop fail to wake up from standby, you can probably blame it on buggy drivers.
My Thinkpad R52 at work still has this problem when I'm booted in Windows. I dual boot Ubuntu on the computer had have zero problems when I'm running it instead of Windows. I find that I'm now doing most of my work in Linux instead.

I wish I had mod points. You just made my afternoon. I love the Hitchhiker's Guide!
A personal favorite of mine is to use the microwave.
welcome our pasty-white girlfriend-less overlords.

The sun is still there and it's hot and bright.

Shogo was a great game that unfortunately was "forgot about" thanks to Half Life. Gotta love an anime style FPS using mechs with a great story.

But can this explain why all the men have goatees?

I thought PNG was supposed to replace GIF because it can do transparencies and because GIF used to be encumbered by patent issues while PNG was open.

Reminds me of the atheists in the episode of South Park where Eric Cartman froze himself and woke up 500+ years in the future.
I have enough problems getting accurate forecasts for my LOCAL weather. How am I supposed to trust the "Space Weatherman"?

If I remember correctly I think it had something to do with GoDaddy decided to move to to MS servers.
