the drones like the predator rely on satellites for control.... this actually means that if the pilot turns too sharply (which the drone allows him to do) he can lose contact with the satellite and.. therefore, control..
doing a barrel roll is very unlikely!!
i imagine 'losing control' of the drone because you turned its little satellite dish away from the sat probably wont get you a medal... well, perhaps some Iranian guy may get one!
"but the location of his grave was lost when the building was demolished in the 16th century. A team of historians, though, were determined to find the body. Archaeologists used ground-penetrating radar on the site of the former priory, and were able to locate the skeleton beneath a parking lot after only a few days of digging."
THEY DID THE GEOPHYS, did they?
This sounds awfully like the setup to every episode of TIME TEAM ever.
The Air National Guard warplane, flying a night training mission out of Andrews Air Force Base near Washington, fired a burst of 27 rounds from its 20-millimeter cannon shortly before 10:15 p.m. as it streaked over Little Egg Harbor Township, 20 miles north of Atlantic City, New Jersey military officials said last night
One of the more troubling things, in my opinion.. related to this were the actions of USA Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood..
Only hours before the FAA issued its order [to ground the 787], Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood reiterated to reporters that he considers the plane safe and wouldnâ(TM)t hesitate to fly one. LaHood and FAA Administrator Michael Huerta unequivocally declared the plane safe at a news conference last week even while they ordered a safety review of the aircraft.
So, in this guys opinion.. knowing what we all know.. he tells everyone is safe and he wouldnt hesitate to fly one?!
On Jan. 7, it took firefighters 40 minutes to put out a blaze centered in an auxiliary power unit of a Japan Airlines 787..that doesnt sound like a perfectly save thing to me!
I have to wonder why he sees the need to save face. I know Boeing plays a big part in our economy and that the govt needs to keep them appearing as a great company.....but shouldnt his job to be anything but misdirecting attention from the possible dangers here?!
Why isnt he running the feet of boeing and the FAA over the coals instead of acting like the
local cop saying NOTHING TO SEE HERE?!
After my annoyance grew at all of the silly "WE GO HANDS-ON!!" posts on sites like engadget which ended up on my RSS feed in large numbers I took all those gadget/tech product sites off of the list..
It was actually kind of surprising this morning to learn the CES thing was already over..... after only seeing a few posts about it.
at this point I have to wonder why anyone really covers this CES thing.. All of the pointless HANDS ON!!! filler stuff barely gives people an idea of what the product is, and well, much of it might never be available for purchase anyways... Then you get some silly guy who has 3 minutes to demo the HOT ITEMS on a CNN segment.. again.. not giving us any real idea of what the product is..
At one time I think this stuff interested me.. but sheez...from a consumer perspective.. these trade shows seem nothing more but an opportunity for blogs and newspapers to fill up on fluff pieces.
I remember hooking up an old CRT to the wrong video card.. one with way too a high resolution for that screen..
A while later, hooked up to the correct video card, I noticed a bit of smoke coming out from where the dials were.. removed the case.. plugged it in again to see if it was OK.. it burst into 3 foot high flames.
thankfully a fire extinguisher was about 3 feet away... mom would have been awfully mad if i had burned down the house.... scared the bejeezes out of me... the burnt electrical smell was horrendous..
I don't know why everyone is all happy and gleeful about this...
Here I was hoping that SpaceX wouldnt become another Lockheed Martin/Northrop Grummen/General Dynamics/ etc.. defense contractor.
In 10.. 20 years will we all be applauding the 'success' of the free market when these guys are just as slimy and nasty as any of the other contractors who will gladly make any weapons system you want ?
So.. your fully functional R2D2 can fly, right ? Like it did in the movies ?...that ability to fly would have come in handy in a lot of situations.. but somehow r2d2 forgot how..
I always laugh at the fools posting the 'omg mcdonalds burgers dont rot' things.. because obviously they dont have a disgusting teenager.
I can assure you that the made with love homemade burgers that ive made, using high quality ingredients will sit unrotted and looking just like said mcdonalds burger that sat out for weeks: because ive dug them out of the corners of a kids bedroom.
perhaps people should try it themselves, or ask their teen to do it.
Part of the problem that Kodak had was less to do with the Digital Revolution and somewhat more to do with the complex formulations of their photographic emulsions.
As I understand it some of these emulsions are so sensitive to variables that one merely couldn't take the "recipe" and scale it down to a smaller run which would work wherever a coating machine existed.. The Kodak Photo Engineers had to tweak and develop the emulsion formulations for the various films they produced to suit each vessel which they were mixed in/stored in/expelled from during production...
With many of the engineers aging and few young people coming in to the work force having the hands on access to emulsions and coating machines to learn the very specialized techniques of the Photographic Emulsion Engineering guys it put kodak in a situation where scaling down and suiting the changing market would become more and more difficult.
The end result seems to be they were producing far more film than they could sell, and were having to store it instead of making profit off of it... running operations that they knew were too large... and stuck in a spot where loyal customers might not accept the changes in emulsions that may come from downsizing the operation...
Digital imaging certainly hurt.. but the extremely complex emulsions and coating really didnt help.
The biggest loss from Kodak and as we are finding with the people trying to replicate Polaroids instant films.. is the stuff you dont learn in chemistry class, or from a masters degree in Photography.. its knowing how to troubleshoot problems with emulsions and make consistent high quality coating machines..
While a lot of the processes in the history of the medium of photography can be done without much trouble as a DIY thing.. modern high speed emulsion films and developing papers are one of the few things that are, even with the right tools and ingredients.. likely out of the realm of possibility for the most hardcore of us. (with only a few people i know of even attempting this)
This is not a "good riddance" type thing.. high speed modern film isnt replaced by digital..
With the death of many of these former emulsion engineers we stand to lose a photographic process that has been with us for over 100 years.. and that sucks.
I think something missed in all of this is how powerful imagery is.
Imagine a world without photographs ?
This mission, and ones before it.. highlight how important this invention, photography, is.
We have photographs of this on its chute landing.. this is the second time we've done it.. and we got photographs back as soon as it landed.. This is great... and the excitement of the crew, and the public, upon seeing these images is a testament to how far photography has come in the past 150ish years.
Kudos to all of those who made this happen.. for the science it will do.. and further affirming the power of images in our world..
I know its been said before.. but I think itd worth saying again..
A lot of stuff on demonoid wasnt in print anymore, and there was a big focus on books/other things that arent readily available anymore.
I think that it brings up a big point that we miss when the whole debate of copyright infringement and pirating the newest movies is brought up in relation to these torrent sites.
These places are in some ways the last place to easily access important parts of the culture of the world.... Is it so important to protect the newest blockbuster films at the cost of so many people losing access to bits of global creative culture that they cant access legally ?

This reminds me of the 2004 incident where the bullets were live.
somehow the pilot was miles off course when he started shooting...

ok now i feel better..
i hate missing parantheses!

we can look forward to NAMM in a few weeks!
it was one of these..
GATEWAY 2000 CRYSTALSCAN 1024NI

think it was 14 inch..
and to the naysayers! yes! it really did happen.
Not like a CRT catching fire...

(bonus: it was a fancy no mess extinguisher)
lesson learned.
Now I can finally get that nickname I have been wanting since 1999 !!
holy moly, im happy to see him being referenced... he is a great sportsman, ..and funny to boot.
as for the air force needing ESPNs help?!
i bet he would say "COME ON!!!!"
seems silly to me, probably more a part of their recruiting efforts !
The ends (make profit) justify the means (by catering to the war machine) ?

Im not sure why but its a big thing for them to bash on and hate the UN...
I guess thats good in this rare instance?
but then again they always pass silly bills that are nothing more than symbolic.

What brought about the move to sponsor the Ferrari Formula One Racing team in 2011 and 2012?

hey! editors.. why not make some sense of these summaries..
This was a neat website, useful.. my usenet downloader even was integrated with the websites bookmark feature.. this was pretty darn cool...
sadly.. once they lost PayPal as a payment option ..the end was nigh. ..I left and i guess others did too..
Really.. for some people you seem to be some God, and software is the religion.
What do you think of the hero worship?
Where ya been ?!! I been looking for you ya mooc!!
this could be like a modern day cathedral, or a pyramid type project.
something that takes generations to build....
why not start
