Just tell them you'll be having friends call periodically posing as potential employers. Let them know that if they say anything untoward about you while providing a reference, you'll see them in court.
For bonus points, mention that suing their asses for something as petty as that will likely be more profitable and less work than having whatever job they're trying to torpedo out from under you.
This guy's got a serious disconnect somewhere. I've got a CS degree from a nice 4-year school. Most who know me who would swear that stands for Counter-Strike, though, not Computer Science.
Even with my four years of advanced tactical training, I'm pretty sure I couldn't realistically (and more importantly, -shouldn't-) expect to sit on a rooftop somewhere and headshot a terror suspect with a pistol from 15 stories up. Likewise, having invested more hours than I care to think about in World of Warcraft, I don't expect to be able to walk outside, turn into a bear, and tank a core hound that just happens to be wandering down my street. It's just not going to happen.
I guess slamming the games is just easier than admitting your own delusions.
It's always good to see a big name, particularly one that's not often at the top of the who-do-we-want-to-flame-today list, getting behind OSS products and sites. Yay, IBM!
For those afraid of the battery issue, I say try it before you discount it. I got a wavebird for my gamecube and absolutely love it. Combine it with some rechargeable AAs and I don't have to buy batteries all the time.
I suppose, though, that if the physical act of changing batteries in something really ticks you off, this may not be for you.
Apple's always been one of the strongest brands out there, at least in my eyes. Until I switched(tm), I always loved their design and even just the look and feel of all things Apple. I think that's what makes them such a cult favorite. (Ok, cult may not be the right word, but you get where I'm going.)
"I believe we made the most beautiful thing in the world. Nobody would criticize a renowned architect's blueprint that the position of a gate is wrong. It's the same as that."
Yeah... but what if the gate didn't work? Besides, isn't saying something is 'wrong' a criticism?
They presumably did something quite naughty, so they're now being punished. When I was little, my mom would take away my Atari 2600 if I was bad. What do you want to bet that some of these people didn't even -have- video games until they got to prison?
They've been making an effort all along... they just don't have the best communication between the people who actually know what's going on and the community reps, so the reps can only keep posting things like "We know, we're working on it". That's what gets the players all frazzled, because it's the same line every time. While this one doesn't go into many technical specifics, it's much, much more than what we've been given to date.
Also, as they've stated several times, the engineers in charge of getting the servers stablized and the developers who are working on implementing battlegrounds are two distinct groups of people. No reason the developers should stop what they're doing if they can't help the engineers.
Blizzard actually made an effort to let the community know what was going on... Now the forum trolls will have to find something else to whine about. Something tells me it won't be pretty.
I wrote in Battletoad, but I was also quite relieved to see that Serenity was winning.

Pee wee himself?
In other news, today's secret word is "motherboard".
Can I have your stuff?

Wouldn't (shouldn't?) this violate some sort of anti-whatever judgement they've been slapped with somewhere?
Slashdot isn't complaint.
You must be new here. The slashdot I know (and love) is one big pile of complaint. =)
"To cover this event we go live to Xander the Doomslayer who's watching the carnage live from his mother's basement! Xander?"
Well, what do you know... turns out I'm not perfect. Apologies for any and all distress caused by my typ'o.
This is a trick question, right?
Really, every popular search engine to date has had it's high points and its low points.
Something will beat our currently beloved Google eventually. Whether or not it's a good thing remains to be seen.
I've got three midterm failures scheduled for shortly after that.
Take that, all you people who said that this year would be the year the moore's law beats us!
Sorry, poor wording.

The Mac mini makes it very cost effective to switch... see sig for details.

Bleh.
"Better than ours"*.
*Yep, this post assumes the reader is also stuck in the US. If you're not in the US, don't flame me. Instead, take pity on me. =)
