Jane/Lonny Eachus goes Sky Dragon Slayer
... Would you all like to see his dumbass failure at trying to school me in thermodynamics? All you have to do is follow his comments back a ways. A long ways... because he kept making the same nonsense arguments, over, and over, and over again, even after he had been shown how wrong they were.
... [Jane Q. Public, 2014-10-22]Jane keeps insisting that this Sky Dragon Slayer equation describes electrical heating power:
My energy conservation equation is this: electrical power in = (epsilon * sigma) * T^4 * area = radiant power out [Jane Q. Public, 2014-10-08]
Once again, that violates conservation of energy. Draw a boundary around the heat source:
power in = electrical heating power + radiative power in from the chamber walls
power out = radiative power out from the heat sourceJane's equation wrongly cancels "radiative power in" with a nonexistent term.
The BASIS of “greenhouse warming” -- back radiation -- has been SCIENTIFICALLY shown to be a load of hogwash. [Lonny Eachus, 2014-10-14]
No, Jane/Lonny Eachus's Slayer nonsense has been scientifically shown to violate conservation of energy. Unless, of course, Jane/Lonny can finally write down an energy conservation equation before wrongly "cancelling" terms?
It's fascinating that Jane/Lonny Eachus keeps insisting that mainstream physics is a hogwash dumbass failure. Jane/Lonny just needs to inform "dumbasses" like Prof. Brown, Dr. Joel Shore, physicists in the National Academies of Science, the American Institute of Physics, the American Physical Society, the Australian Institute of Physics, the European Physical Society, etc.
Jane/Lonny's Sky Dragon Slayer nonsense is so ridiculous that even prominent climate contrarians are rational enough to back away from the Slayers:
- Dr. Fred Singer finds it "surprising that this simplistic argument is used by physicists, and even by professors who teach thermodynamics. One can show them data of downwelling infrared radiation from CO2, water vapor, and clouds, which clearly impinge on the surface. But their minds are closed to any such evidence." The comments prove his point.
- Dr. Roy Spencer "clearly demonstrates that IR absorbing gases (greenhouse gases) reduce the Earth's ability to cool to outer space. No amount of obfuscation or strawman arguments in the comments section, below, will be able to get around this fact."
- Anthony Watts banned one of the original authors because of his nutty comments and later called the argument

Same thing with OS/2 Source code
I have the same issues with OS/2 source code. Not been able to attract new and younger programmers and many of the source code is scattered on the web with the risk of being lost.
I'm doing the following:
1) I had organized all source code I was able to find on GitHub:
- Created a Organization on github - https://github.com/os2world
- Organized the repos in "named-categories"
2) Created a Wiki to organize the catalog.
3) I will upload a copy of all repositories and a wiki dump to the Internet Archive. http://www.archive.org/
This are my steps to try that the source code do not get lost. -
Human rights violations
see the human right violations made by england in 2011 alone:

And this is yet another violation.

For that, one should look not in the water, but at the shift in diet to include a great deal more soy and flaxseed products (and flaxseed has 3x the level of phytoestrogens AND is more readily absorbed from the gut):

Now, wind is God's way of balancing
heat. Wind is the way you shift heat from areas where it is
hotter to areas where it is cooler. That is what wind is.
Wouldn't it be ironic if in the interest of global warming we
mandated massive switches to energy, which is a finite
resource, which slows the winds down, which causes the
temperature to go up? Now, I am not saying that is going to
happen, Mr. Chairman, but that is definitely something on the
massive scale--I mean, it does make some sense. You stop
something. You can't transfer that heat and the heat goes
up. It is just something to think about. -

I haven't expended ANY energy to avoid writing anything down. I've written down the proper and necessary equations not just once but many times now. [Jane Q. Public, 2014-10-13]
Ironically, Jane's still trying hard to avoid writing down his energy conservation equation before wrongly "cancelling" terms. If he'd try to write down that equation just once, he might realize that the nonsensical equation he's written down many times isn't proper or necessary.
I don't need to write down a "conservation of energy equation" in regard to Spencer's experiment. I don't refuse to do it because I can't, as you have clearly implied. I refuse to do it because this is a dead issue. You were proved wrong weeks ago, and your demands for additional proof from me are just laughable. [Jane Q. Public, 2014-10-13]
If Jane actually could write down an energy conservation equation before wrongly "cancelling" terms, Jane would see that "radiative power from the walls" can't cancel out.
Once again, the only way Jane's final term could cancel with the radiative power in term "(e*s)*T4^4" to obtain Jane's final equation would be if "radiative power from chamber walls, re-emitted back out" equals "(e*s)*T4^4". But it's being emitted by the source, which is at temperature T1. If reflections confuse you, just remember that the gray body equation has to reduce to the black body equation where there aren't any reflections at all. In that case, all that power is being absorbed and re-emitted, not reflected.
If Jane would write down an energy conservation equation and think about it, he might realize that he's been endlessly crowing about "proving me wrong" using Sky Dragon Slayer nonsense that violates conservation of energy and/or the Stefan-Boltzmann law.
But since Jane's Slayer brainwashing is so thorough that he can't bring himself to write down that equation, Jane will probably keep endlessly crowing about "proving me wrong".
Ironically, if Jane's Slayer nonsense was right, Jane would also have "proven wrong" Prof. Brown, Dr. Joel Shore, the National Academies of Science, the American Institute of Physics, the American Physical Society, the Australian Institute of Physics, the European Physical Society, etc.
... YOU are the one going against "established" physics here.
... If you could actually show how the physics textbook idea of heat transfer was wrong, you would be world famous by now. ... [Jane Q. Public, 2014-10-06]No, I'd have to get in line behind all those other physicists who agree that adding CO2 warms Earth's surface, which is equivalent to saying that enclosing a heat source warms it. This is probably the most fascinating part of Jane's delusion. Not only does Jane completely misunderstand fundamental physics, Jane seems to earnestly believe that his crackpot Slayer conspiracy theory represents "established" physics. Fascina

Customer testimonials
Let's suppose for a minute that Rossi actually has a working device, and that he's been unfairly snubbed by the patent offices in major regions, and that he's trying to slowly build up his business from the bottom rather than get investors and go big quickly.
Where are his satisfied customers? According to the Wayback Machine he's had this thing on the market for three years. He was supposed to deliver 30-100 of them in 2012. Is there not one of his customers willing to say "I bought this thing and it works as advertised, and it's saved me a lot of money on my power bills?"

That's ridiculous, Jane. Notice that "net radiative power out" equals negative "net radiative power in". Since Jane seems to agree that "net radiative power out" is positive, "net radiative power in" can't be zero. It has to be negative, which just means more radiative power is flowing out than flowing in.
Now you've just gone off the deep end. And by "deep end" I mean the deep end of the pit full of BS you've dug yourself. Just no. Any spherical boundary you draw within this system has additional input: your vaunted electrical power. I'm amazed that you finally got so caught up in your own bullshit that you made a mistake quite THAT fundamental. Get stuffed, troll. For that and actually quite a pile of other reasons that have built up over time, I still don't believe you're a real physicist. [Jane Q. Public, 2014-10-12]
Electrical power isn't radiative power, so it wouldn't be included in net radiative power.
... I have written down all I need to write down to answer Spencer's challenge. I solved for the correct temperature, and showed your own answer to be utterly wrong.
... [Jane Q. Public, 2014-10-11]Once again, Jane's solution halved the electrical heating power. Jane didn't notice this because he calculated net transfer incorrectly, which led him to the absurd conclusion that Jane was only off by about 0.1% when Jane was actually off by ~100%.
So Jane hasn't written down all he needs to give the correct answer to Spencer's challenge. To give the correct answer, Jane has to draw a boundary around the heat source:
power in = electrical heating power + radiative power in from chamber walls
power out = radiative power out from sourceThis is the same answer that Prof. Brown and Dr. Joel Shore tried to explain to Jane. It's also the same answer that underlies the positions taken by the National Academies of Science, the American Institute of Physics, the American Physical Society, the Australian Institute of Physics, and the European Physical Society, etc.

India is at 2.51. In 2007 it was at 2.81. So if this trend continues, in a couple decades it will be below replacement.
Philippines is at 3.06. Right now the Philippines has very low per capita income - roughly comparable to India and Syria. Once this rises, the birthrate will probably drop. In any case, the Philippines forms less than 2% of the world's population and is not going to drive world population growth.
So basically the main issue is Africa. And really Africa has bigger issues than overpopulation, like civil war and dictatorship and malnutrition and malaria. But all these issues are connected to each other. If you can somehow help with one issue (I'm not saying that it's easy) then Africans will have more resources to put into defeating the others.

Re:XMESS, MESS and MAME - where to get roms!
The world needs more good emulators, such as XMESS and MAME. But where do you get the ROMs from? Check out the internet archive with a good broadband connection! Try the following links: https://archive.org/details/ME... and https://archive.org/details/MA... for some ROMs. There are probably more, if you look at the "software" section and if you also try the "search"
...XMESS is amazingly decrepit and its continued use is considered harmful to the project itself. Both standard MAME and MESS compile out of the box on all major distros, and have the advantage of not having been forked and no longer updated for well over a decade. Seriously - there are several MAME and MESS developers who run Linux as their main OSes. Both of them even still support OS/2 out of the box if you're particularly insane.

Re:Insane
You think a fake Facebook account is bad, how about having a cop take over your ID and use it to become a stripper! In 2003, Ohio law enforcement agents "appropriated" a woman's drivers license and SSN, and assigned them to an undercover officer who went to work as a stripper for 3 months as part of a sting operation on strip clubs. And the victim in that case hadn't been arrested for (nor consented to) a damn thing.
Pointing to a 2002 change in Ohio's law aimed at fighting identity theft, [the prosecutor] said police are allowed to assume anyone's identity as long as it's part of an investigation.
Fucking outrageous. Law enforcement in the US is out of control and has been so for quite some time.

Re:Bill Gates: Bitcoin Is 'Better Than Currency
The revisionism within the Bitcoin community about Mt. Gox is astounding. The truth is that the Bitcoin "establishment", as it was, was generally pro-Mt. Gox, and indeed some parts of the system continued to promote Mt. Gox long after the company went insolvent. . Probably the most notorious example was Blockchain.info (Archive.org has a gap of archives between December and July before anyone comments, but the fact I was able to make this tweet should confirm this image was current back in March.)
The scale of the Mt. Gox disaster was a failure of the system, of the consensus driven establishment that set up and supported Bitcoins. By both refusing to accept the need for some form of regulatory environment, voluntary or by legislative fiat, and the deliberate herding of newcomers to that company, the system showed itself to have major flaws.
Moreover though, it showed flaws that the community is unwilling to address, preferring instead to either use sophistry - from arguments that Bitcoin is independent of the environment it trades in, to the pretense that you can't trust US banks to manage your dollars because banks in Sierra Leone that trade in dollars aren't regulated - or just plain pretending what happened didn't happen, the "Oh, I knew Mt. Gox was going to be a problem six months before it went bust* and nobody was recommending it and everyone's always said keep your money in your own wallet and..." argument.
BTW, that asterisk next to the word bust? Funny thing: people really do make that argument, but Mt. Gox, while not bankrupt six months before it went bankrupt (well, duh), had by that point made it hard for people to take money out of their accounts. Most of Mt. Gox's victims are likely people who were customers before anyone "noticed something was wrong". But Blockchain.info was recommending them anyway.
Yes, some libertarians laughed at those who stored money at Mt. Gox. They did it after it became too late to do anything about it. There's always a group of self-described libertarians who laugh at victims of business failures. I've never understood why.

Re:I dunno about LEDs, but CFLs don't last
The EPA guidelines are in line with the level of risk: very, very little. If you want to cut your mercury exposure, don't stop using CFLs, stop eating seafood.
As for the Bridges case, you should read the Maine EPA's account. CFLs were new back then, and they had decided to use her case to learn more about what sort of advice they should give for dealing with broken bulbs. So they sent someone with a meter because they wanted to learn more, not because that's standard practice. The carpet was already intended for removal as part of a rennovation. They took readings all over the room. The only place with "high" levels was right where the bulb broke - not in the ambient air, not anywhere else on the carpet, not on the toys, not even under the carpet where it broke. I say "high" because even the levels right where it broke weren't actually high, just over Maine's long-term exposure guidelines (which is obviously not applicable to a temporary event). Moving the meter even six to eight inches away rom the breakage point dropped the levels way down. She was told that the bulb breakage was "of negligible health concern". However "the homeowner expressed particular nervousness about exposures to mercury even in low numbers", so they told her what she could do if it bothered her, one of which was calling a cleanup contractor. And of course any private cleanup contractor will charge you an utter fortune. The Maine EPA came back two days later after the story hit the news, before anything had been done in the house. The area where the bulb broke had dropped down below Maine's limit.
The case was ridiculously blown out of proportion.

Re:Information and Knowledge Free
One thing I found interesting right at the beginning was about whether information and knowledge should be free.
Later on they talk about a (presumably LCARS) Tricorder-like app disappearing from "the" app store, stongarmed by CBS without any criticism (and also genuinely wonder why there are no bluetooth sets shaped like Uhura's earpiece). So they seem "on board" with a strong "intellectual property" regime or at least put it in the "things fall down", "a hot stove hurts when you touch it", everyday-thruths-that-just-are-and-not-given-a-second-thought category.
Which brings us to the information that really should be free. Like JSTOR. Remember Aaron Schwartz? The biggest thing standing in the way of the dream of freely accessible knowledge is the crazy long copyright term. Now THAT is something to hold a discussion about! How many times on the various Star Trek shows does an "entire civilisation's collection of knowledge and culture" get uploaded to the Enterprise's computer, or the Earth's/Federation's science and cultural works uploaded by the Enterprise to an adversary that suddenly decides humanity is worthy after all?

... These are just straw-man arguments, as usual. I have no argument with these other physicists. It was about Spencer's challenge and how YOU got it wrong, nothing more. Have you asked them, personally, about Spencer's experiment? (No, you haven't, or you would know you were wrong.)
... [Jane Q. Public, 2014-09-25]Does Jane have the memory of a goldfish? Of course Jane has argued with these other physicists. Jane personally asked Prof. Brown about Sky Dragon Slayerism, but wasn't able to "educate" him. ... Bringing up OTHER arguments like greenhouse gases won't win THAT argument for you. You have already lost it.
... [Jane Q. Public, 2014-09-25]How bizarre. The whole reason Slayers deny that an enclosed source warms is because that implies greenhouse gases can't warm the surface:
.. the CO2-warming model rely on the concept of "back radiation", which physicists (not climate scientists) have proved to be impossible. I'm happy to leave actual climate science to climate scientists. But when THEIR models rely on a fundamental misunderstanding of physics, I'll take the physicists' word for it, thank you very much.
.. [Jane Q. Public, 2012-07-05]That's why Jane, Dr. Latour and the rest of the Slayers disagree with the American Institute of Physics, the American Physical Society, the Australian Institute of Physics, and the European Physical Society.
Again, how did we detect the 2.7K cosmic microwave background radiation with warmer detectors? How do uncooled IR detectors see cooler objects? Again, why is Venus hotter than Mercury?
If Sky Dragon Slayers could answer these questions without resorting to gray Oreos or basketball player gloves, physicists might take the Slayers more seriously.
.. Be a man for a change and admit it.
.. [Jane Q. Public, 2014-09-15].. Be a man and admit the truth.. You've been owned, man. BE enough of a man to admit it.
.. [Jane Q. Public, 2014-09-19]... Time to act like a man and admit that you were wrong.

That's exactly the equation Jane should be using to calculate electrical heating power! It has separate terms for "power in" and "power out" so it can describe power entering and exiting a boundary. Re:$1.1 Trillion over 54 years...
I think the core of our disagreement rests on your conception that it is legal for countries to ban hostile agents. This is not the case.
And there you go again, denying Cuba's sovereignty. You may not like it, but it is Cuba's law. If you are a foreign agent acting in Cuba with the purpose of overthrowing the government, you can be convicted in Cuba. Even if the US, and even if no other country, has a law prohibiting crimes against the state (which I doubt!), Cuba can still have that law. It is not "my conception". Cuba has that law. You don't like it? You deal with Cuba, rather than just cover your ears and shout "lalala I can't hear you you have no such law".
We require foreign agents of all powers, even Canada, to register with the authorities, so they can be charged for not registering
So, in practice, your law bans covert agents like Gross. You convict them for failing to register, the Cubans convict them for being covert agents.
But if we banned agents of a "hostile power" we'd be de facto banning other countries from being hostile powers, which even we acknowledge can't be done.
That is nonsensical. Banning hostile agents in your territory has no influence whatsoever over anyone who is not in your territory. And, as you said earlier, you already outlaw being a covert agent of a foreign country.
The logical extension of this is you can't convict foreign agents to multi-year jail terms simply for being part of a plan to oppose your government.
Again, it was not only for planning. It was for acting on those plans. If he had taken violent action (say, murder or bombings), would you agree with the attacked's sovereignty to convict him? If so, what's so different with a non-violent, but also illegal action, with respect to the attacked's sovereignty?
The remedy for such plans in international law isn't that the agent gets nabbed, it's that the attacked country gets lots of sympathy for it's retaliation against the attacker's government.
Cuba retaliating against the US. That's rich. The closest thing Cuba can do in retaliation to the US is... arrest the agent.
Then they blow a plane out of the sky
...during their 26th attempt to violate Cuba's airspace. I do not condone shooting down the plane in international waters, but you are again being disingenous. They didn't "shot down the plane because they like the embargo". They (over)reacted to a long string of provocations, crafted precisely to increase tensions. "The group saw its defiance of Cuban law and Cuban airspace as an example of civil disobedience for Cubans on the island. (...) Several times during the past year, including on Jan. 9 and again on Jan. 13, Hermanos flew over Havana dropping leaflets (...) Many observes believe that Basulto and other hard-line exiles, unhappy with the relatively light sanctions by Washington, are determined to raise tensions between Havana and the US even further to provoke more stringent reprisals from the Clinton administration. (...)"
or sentence one of your guys to 15 years hard labor, or whatever.
(Hard labor? "our" guys? I do not know what are you talking about. I don't know who "your" refers to.)
And he's much less likely to try because ending the embargo doesn't actually help the US, and the Cubans have a history of being very passive and easy to get along with until you ease up on the embargo.
This is obviously a "might makes right" situation. US provokes, provokes, provokes again, and when the Cubans finally react, you say that "the cubans are easy to get along with until you ease up on the embargo". The collorary is that, in your view, the Cubans should ignore all hostilities and ju

"Today, 15 September 2014, WikiLeaks releases previously unseen copies of weaponised German surveillance malware used by intelligence agencies around the world to spy on journalists, political dissidents and others.
FinFisher (formerly part of the UK based Gamma Group International until late 2013) is a German company that produces and sells computer intrusion systems, software exploits and remote monitoring systems that are capable of intercepting communications and data from OS X, Windows and Linux computers as well as Android, iOS, BlackBerry, Symbian and Windows Mobile devices. FinFisher first came to public attention in December 2011 when WikiLeaks published documents detailing their products and business in the first SpyFiles release.
Since the first SpyFiles release, researchers published reports that identified the presence of FinFisher products in countries aroud the world and documented its use against journalists, activists and political dissidents.
Julian Assange, WikiLeaks Editor in Chief said: "FinFisher continues to operate brazenly from Germany selling weaponised surveillance malware to some of the most abusive regimes in the world. The Merkel government pretends to be concerned about privacy, but its actions speak otherwise. Why does the Merkel government continue to protect FinFisher? This full data release will help the technical community build tools to protect people from FinFisher including by tracking down its command and control centers."
FinFisher Relay and FinSpy Proxy are the components of the FinFisher suite responsible for collecting the data acquired from the infected victims and delivering it to their controllers. It is commonly deployed by FinFisher's customers in strategic points around the world to route the collected data through an anonymizing chain, in order to disguise the identity of its operators and the real location of the final storage, which is instead operated by the FinSpy Master."

Once sales start dying and a minimum time has passed, I will release the game source code as some kind of open source. I'm not very happy with the draconian nature of (L)GPL, nor do I believe the other licenses have much merit other than to boost the egos of the original authors, so I might just possibly release it all as public domain. -

... It is the engineering textbook answer. Claiming it is nonsense does not make it so. It was your own model that violated conservation of energy. But to see why, it's easiest to solve the general case first, then look at a specific case. I told you I had reasons to solve the general case first.

... [Jane Q. Public, 2014-09-01]I never said the problem is intractable. Just that it's more complicated than the spherically symmetric problem. Again, do you dispute that equilibrium temperatures for a non-enclosing plate would vary across the plate surfaces rather than being simple numbers like with a spherically symmetric fully enclosing plate?
Maybe I should explain that. Consider Dr. Spencer's first illustration. Presumably the heated plate at "150F" has finite conductivity, so its lack of spherical symmetry means that its corners will be cooler than the plate's side's midpoints. That's because the corners are closer to the cold chamber walls than those midpoints.
An integral over the heated plate's surface might average to "150F" but (unlike a spherically symmetric plate) it can't have that temperature everywhere as long as it has finite conductivity. But at least the single heated plate has bilateral symmetry; the left and right hand side midpoints have the same temperature.
Adding a cool plate removes even that bilateral symmetry. The left hand side's midpoint warms the least because it's still radiating to the 0F chamber walls. The right hand side's midpoint warms the most because it's now radiating to the (initially) 100F cold plate.
Since enclosing a spherically symmetric plate warms it from 150F to ~233.8F for area ratios similar to Earth's, the right hand side's midpoint won't warm past ~233.8F. But it has to warm to conserve energy because at equilibrium power in = power out.
I can't be more specific without programming a finite element model. But Dr. Latour never even allowed for the heated plate's temperature to be different on each side. As long as we're only considering materials with finite conductivity, this would only be poss

Re:Why not some really old movies
There are more recent films that also lapsed into the public domain, due to a failure to register the copyright, "Night of the Living Dead" being perhaps the most well-known example.
The real reason why GOG doesn't include these films is three-fold:
1) There are already sites doing this (for free), e.g. the Internet Archive.
2) The quality of the original prints is often poor, restoring old movies requires great skill and is very expensive, and existing restorations are not public domain.
3) Most importantly, it's besides the point. GOG is trying to get the film industry to recognize the value of selling DRM-free movies, like the music industry did before them. Selling public domain movies would be plain counter-productive.
Here's hoping they'll succeed where others have failed before them.

7. THE HARVARD MAN
http://www.rollingstone.com/po...https://web.archive.org/web/20...
7. The Harvard Man
For the cops on the front lines of the War on Drugs, the federal government's fixation with marijuana was deeply perplexing. As they saw it, the problem wasn't pot but the drug-related violence that accompanied cocaine and other hard drugs. After the crack epidemic in the late 1980s, police commissioners around the country, like Lee Brown in Houston, began adding more officers and developing computer mapping to target neighborhoods where crime was on the rise. The crime rate dropped. But by the mid-1990s, police in some cities were beginning to realize there was a certain level that they couldn't get crime below. Mass jailings weren't doing the trick: Only fifteen percent of those convicted of federal drug crimes were actual traffickers; the rest were nothing but street-level dealers and mules, who could always be replaced.
Police in Boston, concerned about violence between youth drug gangs, turned for assistance to a group of academics. Among them was a Harvard criminologist named David Kennedy. Working together, the academics and members of the department's anti-gang unit came up with what Kennedy calls a "quirky" strategy and convinced senior police commanders to give it a try. The result, which began in 1995, was the Boston Gun Project, a collaborative effort among ministers and community leaders and the police to try to break the link between the drug trade and violent crime. First, the project tracked a particular drug-dealing gang, mapping out its membership and operations in detail. Then, in an effort called Operation Ceasefire, the dealers were called into a meeting with preachers and parents and social-service providers, and offered a deal: Stop the violence, or the police will crack down with a vengeance. "We know the seventeen guys you run with," the gangbangers were told. "If anyone in your group shoots somebody, we'll arrest every last one of you." The project also extended drug treatment and other assistance to anyone who wanted it.
The effort worked: The rates of homicide and violence among young men in Boston dropped by two-thirds. Drug dealing didn't stop -- "people continued what they were doing," Kennedy concedes, "but they put their guns down." As Kennedy reflected on the success of the Boston project, which ran for five years, he wondered if he had discovered a deeper truth about drug-related violence. If the murders weren't a necessary component of the drug trade -- if it was possible to separate the two -- perhaps cities could find a way to reduce the violence, even if they could do nothing about the drugs.
In 2001, Kennedy got a call from the mayor of San Francisco that gave him a chance to examine his theories in a new setting. The city had experienced a recent spike in its murder rate, much of it caused by an ongoing feud between two drug-dealing gangs -- Big Block and West Mob -- that had resulted in dozens of murders over the years. Could Kennedy, the mayor asked, help police figure out how to stop the killings?
Kennedy flew out to San Francisco and met with police. But as he researched the history of the violence, it seemed to confirm his findings in Boston. Though both Big Block and West Mob were involved in dealing drugs, the shootings were not really drug-related -- the two groups occupied different territories and were not battling over turf. "The feud had started over who would perform next at a neighborhood rap event," says Kennedy, now a professor at John Jay College of Criminal Justice. "They had been killing each other ever sinc
