Way off a tangent.
Wow. I should have caught this post sooner. Major slashdot emergency.
Here is Japan Airlines:
http://www.jal.co.jp/So here is American Airlines:
http://www.aa.com/Jp Gov site:
http://www.stat.go.jp/US Gov site:
http://www.uspto.gov/Ugly Jp Consulting site:
http://www.e-netten.ne.jp/Horrible US Consulting site:

http://www.sony.co.jp/
http://www.vaio.sony.co.jp/
http://bape.com/ (you cannot see the JP site from the US)
http://www.capcom.co.jp/sf4/This got world attention:
http://www.uniqlo.com/calendar/And a typical web site gallery site will quickly help you find more:
http://www.webdesignclip.com/So all of you who just argued for what Japanese is and what American is, you might want to give this blogger a tweet and call him out for making you think hard about the offensive stereotypes you just helped uphold.
Seriously people, if these sites look complex, its because you can't read Kanji.

Re:hmmm...... Why do you need the day off?
I was going by countries. But even if you take all of Europe into account, the size of its market is similar but smaller than the US (look up proper numbers if you don't believe me, though if you have the right settings you can just look at this report: http://www.capcom.co.jp/ir/english/data/pdf/fy2005b.pdf). Asia as a whole is an entirely different ball game, as Korea and China's console markets aren't exactly huge. They are utterly dwarfed by the PC market, and are crippled by piracy. Things are improving, but not at the rate that makes them major players yet by any stretch.
Anyway please ACTUALLY know what you're talking about if you reply. Because even if you interpret markets as Asia vs Europe vs North America, you're still wrong and I'm still right. -

Great Shmup in the spirit of 1 button
For anyone that is interested, the CPS-2 version of Mars Matrix used one button for up to five weapon system functions, which are executed depending on how you hit/heald the button (Normal fire, Cannon, Shield, Reflect Bullets and Gravity Bomb). Be forewarned, the Dreamcast version has all the functions mapped to seperate buttons (although I'd be surprised if they did not have a 1-button set up just like the arcade version). One of the most underrated commercial shmups imo. Check it out. =)

Try it Yourself!
This game does have one very interesting feature that I've never seen before. There is a flash demo available on the official site, which lets you try out a few episodes of the game. The slightly grainy graphics and BGM are very GBA-esque, but you're in for a special treat of not having to squint at kanji -- it seems to use a truetype font for the main game text.
The demo can be accessed from the "taikenban" ( in unicode) button, the second from the left on the main page.
My impression? Definitely seems wacky and stylistic. As the reviewer said, it may not be "literature", but it might be a nice break from trashy paperbacks for reading on your commute. Anyway, try it yourself and see. Of course, reading Japanese is necessary, but hopefully, they will have a similar demo for the English version if and when it's released. -
Killer 7I haven't heard anything about this cell shaded adventure? yet.
I saw it on an unconfirmed Capcom E3 games list but so far have yet to clap eyes on a preview.
Anyone seen it about?

Re:Infection
It's a total rip off of Resident Evil 4 for Gamecube
... (yes I know it's not out yet, but come on ... it's SO obvious)

Re:Some notable GC exclusives...
Quite correct, Resident Evil 4 in fact
-
Re:Doesn't stop them
Talk to Capcom about this one. They had this sweet, sweet game called, "Biohazard." Unfortunately, there was a rock band by the same name in the U.S.
So, here in the U.S., it was called, "Resident Evil." History was made.

Network RE Movie
There is a nice Network Biohazard (RE: Outbreak) movie here in MPEG format. (Large and small sizes available).

Re:While on the subject of real-time filters...
N64 Turok 2 is a commercial game with a sketchy mode, and the current industry trend of cel-shading is sketchy to say the least (and that is a tech which makes nasty low-poly character models look all yummy, though admittedly after a big bunch of processing).
Finally, for in my opinion the nicest animated music video ever, check the one by the Beastie Boys with a name I can't remember
:) And then the whole Daft Punk Discovery album video set. -
Steel Battalion? It's called Tekki.
Steel Battalion is the US name for a Japanese game called Tekki . For what it's worth, regardless of the pant soiling number of buttons, the game (beta) wields remarkably well. The big question is whether the damn thing will sell (hint: with a controller that size it won't be cheap).
