Re:Modern version
So as a young noob I quite like these old games, but I have to admit I prefer tilesets over text, can anybody recommend a gui frontend for rogue?
Best I've found for nethack was a qtnethack* which really sucked in some areas, is there something similar for rogue? Hell is there something that can act as a frontend for both?*I know there if flacon's eye but I found it much harder to see whats going on in 3D

Re:"green" vs "no upgrades"So this thing is basically an updated version of the decTop ?
Depending on price, I'm mildly interested--assuming the bios is accessible and I can put my own version of linux on it.
I have a dectop. It's a nice little machine. Just wish it had usb 2.0, ethernet builtin, and mini-pci. Though I've heard rumors of a dectop version 2 that has all that. hhmm.

Re:What's wrong with Loose Change?*sigh*...I am terrified that our society has peaked and is now waning. Our (I'm assuming you are US btw) education system is clearly failing us - we seem to have lost the ability to think critically. Not everyone can be an engineer or a scientists - but those skills aren't necessary to judge the credibility of a documentary. You apparently would rather believe a couple kids than the hundreds of thousands of engineers in this country that understand the truth. Sure, there will be your eccentrics, your ego-maniacs, and your out-of-their-league-engineers that may lend a voice to these conspiracies... but have you considered that they might represent 0.1% of the population of people who understand these things? Its all the same, whether it is 9-11 or the moon landings (which I assume you also suspect were faked).
Oh,.. and here is your rebuttal:

Re:More than just aircraft
There are also thousands of pictures and videos from the WTC site that are classified. If planes really brought down the towers, why would such classification be necessary? Also, just like in Oklahoma City, all the evidence from the WTC site was destroyed as quickly as possible. They could've saved the steel for analysis, and we'd know whether or not thermite (or some other explosive) was used to cut the core columns.
You might want to take another view on the 9/11 theories. The arguments you put forward are specious at best, mind you they are not uncommon arguments, but that does not make them correct.
A good primer can be found here:
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=7501020220 921158523
Keep in mind that Penn and Teller use Ad Hominim attacks for 2 reasons. First, its funny, and the show has to be entertaining to some degree. Second, they can be sued for using words like: "Hoax" "Fraud" etc, but they cannot be sued for: "Bullshit" "Asshole" and "Motherfucker". So, keep that in mind.
Also, if you have had the misfortune to watch the movie "Loose Change" first or second edition, you might want to check out this link:
http://www.lolloosechange.co.nr/
It is "Loose Change 2nd ed." With added commentary pointing out the errors made in the movie. Keep in mind Popular Mechanics and a host of other publications have already soundly debunked these theories, and for more on loose change, a blow by blow HTML debunking can be found here:
http://911research.wtc7.net/reviews/loose_change/i ntroduction.html
Remember, if you ever wonder about an issue, check out both sides and then decide for yourself. If you would like my suggestion into a few good books on how to do that (if you care) they are:
The Demon Haunted World, Science as a Candle in the Dark - Carl Sagan and Ann Druyan
Why People Believe Wierd Things - Michael Schermer
Voodoo Science - Robert L. Park
A collection of excellent debunking links follows:

Re:Understanding the US
"Mees thinks all hell is about to break loose when the real world kicks in and ripps these people a new one."
Like starting to trade oil in Euros and Roubles? Yeah, that will create sort of an interesting situation, considering it's mostly the fact that all the debt the US ows the rest of the world is in dollars thats keeping the american economy afloat at the moment -- imagine what would happen if Japan and China, for instance, started dumping their dollars for euros...
(OT:can you help me with a survey? will take one minute! ) -
Re:It would be free... it could be freeThere are a number of sources of free domain names already: the first example that came up when I googled was this one, but there are others.
There are also plenty of commercial domain registrars that let you edit your NS records as much as you like. I use this one but I'm sure google will find you some others.
Then you'll need a free secondary DNS service. Guess what? They exist too.

Working...Re:acpi support for laptops?
As most of the posters have already mentioned, ACPI, does not owrk perfectly in most of the distros.
But it may not be complete fault of the distro. Your ACPI DSDT table might be broken (M$ compatible though!!! ) .... I was having the same problem as you mentioned in your post... I fixed my laptops DSDT by myself (detailed instructions and the fixed DSDT are at my LinuxPage)
Though the web-page mentioned above only describes one Distro, I have used several distros after that and with a little effort, ACPI works on all of them.
Also I made 3D acceleration work on S3 (now Via) savage card which has been listed as "not supporting 3D acceleration under Linux" (Detailed description at azeemarif.blogspot.com)

Re:thats one wayIf you want to hear original music, they need to get paid.
I'm in a band. We're not artists (too fancy!), but we are entertainers. We've been playing for 18 months now and haven't made one thin dime. In fact, with equipment costs we're over a thousand in the hole. Yet we still make original music. Why? For the love of it. It's fun, and it satisfies an urge we have to create something. Sure, we might not make great music, but that's not the point.
People will always make music even if you don't pay them. In fact, this will weed out the bastards who are only in it for the money. Music can only get better!
Mr. Black
Making original music for the hell of it.
