dhmoExactly.
Dihydrogen monoxide is much more dangerous. We should be more concerned about that instead.

Re:Oxgyen di-hydride
My guess would be Dihydrogen Monoxide.
-
Re:A large misconception
And come to think about it, is it really such a good idea for the government to fund a game like this when it has yet to be decided by a court whether or not games have influenced school shootings and other killings by teenagers?
AAAAAARRRRGGG!! You don't get it!!! You just don't get it!!! It wasn't the video games, the trenchcoats, or the Marylin Manson music that caused it. Every perpetrator of a school shooting was discovered to have taken the dangerous chemical, Dihidrogen Monoxide within 24 hours before their rampage. This has been settled. -
Re:Do research findings cancel each other out?
Dihydrogen Monoxide Research Division Is the page where that came from, there is a lot more information about the subject aswell.
-
Re:Terahertz Imaging?
You have linked to a scaremongering, unofficial site. Look here for impartial, unbiased information on and warnings about this pervasive chemical compound.

DHMO
This reminds me of a classmate that did a project on the dangers of dihydrogen monoxide. Their source, dhmo.org, was another well known internet spoof.
-
Re:exposure to nitrogen
No, the press is trying to cover up the dangers of DHMO!
-
Re:Hmmm...
Certain forms of hydrogen are extremely dangerous to handle.Especially that nasty Dihydrogen Monoxide!!!

Re:Beam Breaks Camel's Back
If you've read any of the low carb diet books (eg, Protein Power, Dr Atkins Diet) they can tell you all kinds of tales of hyperinsulinemia and many related ills coming from a high carb diet.
If you go to dhmo.org you'll find 100% acurate and scientifically verified tales about Dihydrogen Monoxide causing many ills including sudden death. You'd better go read it becuase Dihydrogen Monoxide is found in all the meat you eat! And you though carbs were your problem? -
beware!
NASA scientists have discovered vast quantities of hydrogen
Any extraction of this 'hydrogen' should be persued with caution. Especially if this so called 'hydrogen' is in the dangerous dihydrogen monoxide form!
Consider some of it's effects and the consider the whole cover-up and conspiracy surround dihydrogen monoxide!
Please, for the children's sake, reconsider! -
Oceans gobbling up more carbon dioxide
Ok, so more CO2 goes into the atomosphere = more plants. Oh no, more plants!
We're not destroying the planet by producing CO2. Heavy metals in drinking water is a problem, as are many other types of polution, but CO2 is simply not any more of a problem than Dihydrogen Monoxide (DHMO).
Get a clue and stop buying into all of this alarmist crap. Work to stop real forms of pollution. Scientists need funding to continue research. To get funding, you have to prove that you are working on something valuable. What could be more valuable than "I'm trying to find out if we're destroying the planet!" Don't think that these people are not in this for the money any less than any corporation out there.

Re:Ya!
*Psssst. Adrenalyn is psychologically addictive. Not chemically*
plus, Adrenalyn is a naturally produced hormone.
I'll tell you something else that's chemically addictive by your logic: Testosterone. While we're at it, why don't we add the infamous DHMO or even worse, Glucose!
Please, people, educate yourselves about drugs before you go spouting off what is a chemical dependency and what isn't. Even a chemical drug isn't necessarily physiologically addictive. -
Re:mandatory warning labels
Don't you mean Dihydrogen Monoxide?
-
Re:Oh god, not again
I knew that damn dihydrogen monoxide would bring us down one day. No No H20! No No H20! Dihyodrogen Monoxide Research Division
-
Re:Ummm.... Plain English translation?
I'm going to go have a glass of dihydrogen oxide now.
I'd be careful if I was you. -
Harmless?Water is by far more easier to obtain and is harmless to boot.
Ask Robert Wagner about water being harmless.
Visit dhmo.org for more information on the dangers of this all-too-common substance.
-
Re:Lies! Uses Gamma Irradiation not Microwave!
They also contain a certain amount of dihydrogen monoxide! I'm not exaggerating, this has been proven! Be careful!
Give a man a fish and he eats for one day. Teach him how to fish, and though he'll eat for a lifetime, he'll call you a miser for not giving him your fish. -

Got science questions ?
Here are the answers.
(note: these are links to funny science theories. Don't take it seriously. And don't stop ingesting DMHO.)
so-called "light sources" are really dark suckers, that "light" is nothing more than the absence of darkness, and that it is darkness, not light, which is the fundamental radiative transport mechanism of the universe.
This page is funny, specially when you know DHMO is water. -
Maybe MagLev will save us yet!
let's hope that the Navy research gets us a step closer to not burning all that Oxygen and Hydrogen to get to space...
Yes, we must reduce emissions of deadly Dihydrogen Monoxide! It's already filling our rivers, streams and oceans, and has been found even in the ice of Antarctica! The time to act is now, people! Before our wells are full of this dangerous chemical! -
Re:oh, no!
Actually, that's Dihydrogen Monoxide.
Visit http://www.dhmo.org for more information about this deadly chemical. -
Re:oh, no!
Sir, I believe the substance you speak of is none other than dihydrogen monoxide, the deadliest substance known to man. Your sarcastic tone reveals your ignorance.
Please do some research for yourself at dhmo.org -
Re:First Power!
Last time I looked water was not a pollutant
Obviously you aren't familiar with the latest research on Dihydrogen Monoxide. -
Re:Trits?
And language isn't always known for it's logic. The prefix di does mean two in some instances. Hydrogen-dioxide for one. We don't call it Hydrogen-bioxide do we?
I thought it was dihydrogen monoxide that people were all worked up about... -
Re:Drinkable? (tangent)
Are you crazy, man? The waste these things put out is none other than dihydrogen monoxide! Thousands of people have been injured or have died from exposure to the stuff every year!!!
-
JUNK SCIENCEThis is all complete nonsense. Check out Junk Science for much more of this stuff. We need to pay more attention to the dangers of dihydromonoxide.
These sites are pretty annoying right wing rants, but the basic idea fuelling them is right - that there is money to be made by creating panic, and that's why newspapers (and "scientists") do it. -
Re:Water kills too.
Yup, and I will let the web speak for me. Ban DHMO
-
Re:I can see the paranoid rallying cry now
Hi Rob
;-)
On the plus side, some day there may no longer be the need to collect blood from those dirty, disease-infested human animals, who are always so stingy that there are always shortages.
-Craig
Ban DHMO! -- it's a major component of that synthetic blood! -
Re:Constant Issues
Yes, perhaps we all do drink that poison known as Dihydrogen Monoxide but should we really? Check out www.dhmo.org

Re:Not a big deal.H2O! Oh no, isn't that dihydrogen monoxide? I quote:
Some of the known perils of Dihydrogen Monoxide are:
- Death due to accidental inhalation of DHMO, even in small quantities.
- Prolonged exposure to solid DHMO causes severe tissue damage.
- Excessive ingestion produces a number of unpleasant though not typically life-threatening side-effects.
- DHMO is a major component of acid rain.
- Gaseous DHMO can cause severe burns.
- Contributes to soil erosion.
- Leads to corrosion and oxidation of many metals.
- Contamination of electrical systems often causes short-circuits.
- Exposure decreases effectiveness of automobile brakes.
- Found in biopsies of pre-cancerous tumors and lesions.
- Often associated with killer cyclones in the U.S. Midwest and elsewhere.
- Thermal variations in DHMO are a suspected contributor to the El Nino weather effect.
We must stop the use of DHMO-producing fuels in rocket engines IMMEDIATELY or we risk furthering the Earth's contamination with this DEADLY chemical!
To clue-impaired moderators: this is a joke.

Re:NITROGEN WARNING is similar to TCP/IP warning
Even more hilarious is the DHMO.org website. A thinly veiled crack at the MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet) phenomenon... even though I'm an ex-environmental lawyer I found it funny.

Re:The Reason IT Has To Wait For 2002
Beware! That stuff can really mess you up! I knew a guy who started taking it every once in a while, usually after he exercised or exerted himself. Pretty soon he was quaffing whole bottles of the stuff, uncut, morning noon and night. Stay away from this one, folks.

Re:WHO and dhmo
Tut, tut, Anonymous Coward!
If you are going to alert people of such a significant health risk, you could at least include the link so they can find out more information.
You can bet this information won't be given a place in the .health heirachy -

Re:Caffeine morphine Jolt Cola--what's the diff? :
Indeed. One of the most deadly substances known to man is Dihydrogen Monoxide, yet we have our daily intake of dhmo every day...

Re:Jeeez...
Your point is well taken. You may wish to visit http://www.dhmo.org for more on the dangers of dihydrogen monoxide.
However, radiation does cause genetic damage. Even at low levels, the damage is cumulative, so that, over a lifetime, and through multiple sources of exposure, the small incremental risks can add up to a high likelyhood of a health impact. Voluntary exposure to risks are the easiest exposures to control.
By the way, nobody has yet figured out whether the electromagnetic field generated by cell phones actually poses a risk. Credible sources have conflicting views. The world health organization has recently initiated a ten year prospective study of the issue, and this should be the most robust study to date.
Back to your original question, who stands to benefit from this info? Anyone who cares to take the time to understand the issue, and make a decision for theirself. Information wants to be free!! Right? -
Re:WellI have heard of high school students that can get people to sign petitions to ban dihydrogen oxide because it has poisonous chemicals in it as well as flammable ones.
It's also used in the production of chemical and biological weapons, and in nuclear reactors.
www.dhmo.org has more about it.

Is that DHMO Snow ?For a moment I thought it was all the DHMO based kind. HTTP://www.dhmo.org but alas this stuff is just as dangerous. Lakes of Lava. sheshee, and I thought Kingston Harbor was bad to swim in.
It is worth noting however that these items force IO to have a climate that's almost fit for human habitation. Sure there is lots of Volcanic activity but the general temperature has to approach livable limits.
My own bet however is that when we eventually do find life on another planet it will not be one in our solar system. That however is based on the idea that life is too complex to occur entirely by accident. If it did come about that way, IO and Titan may have some living microbes swimming around.
I however expect a universe that looks much like the Star Trek/Wars universe. I.e. many civilizations of various levels of advancement that never invaded earth simply because they didn't want to or were busy doing other things.
Then again maybe we are the decedents of an occupying force from another planet.

Re:Public Paranoia
Cobalt atom in vitamin B-12
There is legislation in the works to ban the substance Dihydrogen Monoxide. I think that you should look into it. Dihydrogen monoxide is highly dangerous, and you should look into it before it's too late. -
Re:3,300,000 pounds of thrust (Each!)70 tons of aluminum oxide? Oh my God, we're all going to die!
Don't forget about the vast quantities of dihydrogen monoxide produced by the main engines.
NASA must be stopped before they destroy the planet!

Dihydrogen Monoxide - DHMOhttp://www.dhmo.org has got to be the most elaborate and convincing hoax of them all. In fact I think the only reason it didn't make the list is that even after being told what it's about you go back and recognize the underlining honesty.
This stuff really dose pollute sewage and is at least partially responsible for El Ninio.

Dihydrogen Monoxide
I can't believe this. Slashdot is now repealing stories???? What happened to the Dihydrogen monoxide story! That stuff is dangerous, see The Dihydrogen Monoxide Website for the full story!
Yes, I know this is offtopic for this story, but the fact that Slashdot repealed such an important story is unbelievable!
Did anyone save the link to the story on Slashdot? If so, post a reply to this!

Re:"Noxious" Carbon Dioxide? - NOT
Water vapor causes 98% of the Earth's greenhouse effect.
This is Yet Another Reason that we should Ban Di-Hydrogen Monoxide NOW! See the DHMO site.
