Noted in various sources to have been one of the most liberal senators in office (when he showed up for a vote), he arose out of nowhere in the political landscape and won his elections by invalidating his opponents' candidacies (not challenging the election counts, or mudslinging, he literally made himself the only choice).

He promised Hope(tm) and Change(tm) and to Clean Up Washington(tm). And how does he Change(tm) things? Hmmm, let's see. Looks like a more liberal version of the Clinton administration (complete with insiders from the original Clinton administration!). Obama also seems to have a distinct preference for nominating people for his cabinet who have tax issues. Definitely a Change(tm) we can all Believe(tm) in.

He promised responsibility, but we got a pork-laden "stimulus" package with such gems as more funding for ACORN and MoveOn.org. Certainly these wonderful organizations simply want to empower you! Warming would also take land out of agricultural production. Some land that's now used for growing crops will become deserts. Other areas will become flooded. Especially with saltwater. As it is now, Southern California is a major source of produce. However all those crops get their water from the Colorado River, which is drying up. As another /.er has posted a number of tymes, people in Colorado can't even use cisterns to capture and store rainwater without a license or permit as people downstream already have "rights" to that water. Farmers in a desert have more "rights" to rainwater than those who live where it rains?

The fact is I'm a proud American, and I personally plan on voting on who I think would be best for the country, and the country my children will inherit. If everyone does that and Republicans get elected as a result, perhaps that's what should happen.

Here's one hint that might help you understand Democrats: Believe it or not, we are all individuals with our own personal sets of beliefs and ideals. I was vacationing in Buenos Aires Argentina this spring when there were annual fires lit by farmers to clear their land. I guess that normally, they don't do it all at once, but this time they did. There were multiple traffic accidents and extracity bus service was highly impacted. Besides flying, buses seem to be the major way to get around Argentina's huge spaces. Lots of overnight buses between cities with 22 hour trips quite normal.
