BarbaraHudson "eat your words"
"I tore apart your stupid hosts file crapola." - by BarbaraHudson (3785311) on Tuesday August 19, 2014 @10:46AM (#47703255)
Where? You RAN from trying recently -> http://slashdot.org/comments.p... & you're FAIRLY given the opportunity to make good on those words of yours - you downmodded (via your many sockpuppets) & ran, lol, after your wise-ass comment on hosts here JUST before that challenge -> http://tech.slashdot.org/comme... quoted next below:
---
"scans multiple forums repeatedly to troll his crappy HOSTS file " - by BarbaraHudson (3785311) on Sunday January 04, 2015 @11:58AM (#48730581) from http://tech.slashdot.org/comme...
I only post on them where they apply (or confronting naysayers like you). Prove otherwise!
(Oh, that's right - you're NOT BIG ON PROOF, are you? See below next...)

"His only "legend in his own mind" was that he claimed that "his" hosts file could completely secure a windows computer. " - by tomhudson (43916) on Saturday February 12, @11:19AM (#35186644)
Where did I even *once* claim hosts completely secure a computer?
Putting words in my mouth I never stated != truth, or a good argument on YOUR part. You RAN from that too!

"Who has independently vetted it?" - by BarbaraHudson (3785311) on Tuesday August 19, 2014 @10:46AM (#47703255)
You tried to say it's malware/spyware too - guess what:
Answer = The BEST in the security antimalware & antispyware business currently, http://www.av-test.org/en/news... per that VERY recent test's results, who also host & RECOMMEND my program for hosts, is who -> http://hosts-file.net/?s=Downl... (Malwarebytes' hpHosts)
* You've done better? No... lol!
APK
P.S.=> You fail: "Eat your words, Forrest" & you told others to stalk/harass me by ac posts as YOU YOURSELF do, unceasingly, for years http://slashdot.org/comments.p...

If you're going to "defend" Barb
Take a shot at this challenge of mine to her she ran from http://slashdot.org/comments.p... instead - Go on: Go for it...
* You won't & can't anymore than barbarahudson (who always puts hosts & myself down AND stalks me by ac posts -> http://slashdot.org/comments.p... quoted in her own words doing so and telling others to join her in that concerted effort of stalking me...
---
Why AND HOW does BarbaraHudson stalk, harass, and troll me plus WHY does she/he do it? Ok:
http://slashdot.org/comments.p...
Where I showed how her words = bs, on how to disable autorun on Windows, years ago by that time (7++ yrs.) and also to her "supporter" sockpuppet like you now obviously http://slashdot.org/comments.p... thinking I wouldn't see this.
THEN, Barb libelled me and I made her "eat her words" on that too http://slashdot.org/comments.p...
After she libelled me saying I was a "know nothing that never worked in the industry" and I made her eat her words.
---
The ac stalking's of myself have continued since, along with her snide remarks recently -> http://tech.slashdot.org/comme... to that?
My challenge to her now here that she runs from.
APK
P.S.=> It gets better (ontop of her ac stalking etc.) when she tried this attack on my software for hosts file creation and I made her eat her words again:

Hosts don't protect vs. DNS issues? Wrong!

THIS TAKES THE CAKE FROM YOU, PER MY SUBJECT-LINE ABOVE:
"No wonder you're so retarded" - by Khyber (864651) on Wednesday January 07, 2015 @12:09PM (#48755857) Homepage
Face fact: I shot you down with your own words, quoted http://slashdot.org/comments.p... easily stating you KNOW DNS issues are solved for users via hosts!
FACT: Custom hosts files let you AVOID DNS totally & make you go faster via sites you spend most time on, resolving faster than remote DNS queries... by far!
E.G. -> For me, like it would for anyone else since folks online DO spend their time @ a limited number of websites mostly? It's 95++% more speed due to hardcoded hosts favorite sites @ the top of a hosts file (equating to roughly 2-3 million remotely slower DNS indexed entries with 25 of them here for example).
Do the math. It shows you the truth (which YOU don't & won't + CAN'T ADMIT, or you'll have MORE EGG ON YOUR FACE, Khyber)

"keep on about a HOSTS file that won't protect against DNS poisoning (If your hard-coded IP/DNS entry gets fucked, you're fucked, stupid.)" - by Khyber (864651) on Wednesday January 07, 2015 @12:09PM (#48755857) Homepage
LMAO - Get ready to "eat your words" AGAIN, Khyber:
(Learn to read my posts, I already covered this vs. DNS & hosts hardcoded via my ability to write a program that the BEST security team on the planet per this very recent test http://www.av-test.org/en/news... RECOMMENDS & HOSTS MY PROGRAM, link below, on their website here -> http://hosts-file.net/?s=Downl... - how about you? Zero is what!)
APK Hosts File Engine 9.0++ 32/64-bit:

Hosts files don't *ONLY* do more than what YOU like, in "Almost ALL Ads Blocked" (crippled by default & sold out so it doesn't fully work anymore defeating its OWN purpose) Hosts do MORE with less parts than AdBlock & more efficiently, by far!

Hosts fix this issue & compliment DNS... apk
For 24 of my favorite sites hardcoded @ TOP of hosts avoiding DNS totally & resolving host-domain/subdomain to IP locally, faster from LOCAL system diskcache via a system of 100% pure kernelmode code (diskcache subsystem & tcpip.sys) accessed memory.
That equates to approximately 2-3 MILLION indexed lookups saved doing hosts hardcodes, vs. wasting time querying remote DNS (which is exploitable as hell & insecure, mostly) & works for me locally, completely under MY control!
I also redirect poisoning (kaminsky bug, of which 99.999% of ISP DNS are *NOT PATCHED* against mind you) & downed DNS too.
Thus, I surf FAR faster & more reliably by far (again even vs. such DNS exploits this article notes + far more), & 95++% of the time I do it here, the fastest possible from the 1st IP resolver queried by default (per my router logs my fav sites ARE where I am, literally, 95++% of the time online too) - pure kernelmode systems operations too, no less (no usermode bs).
Now - Sub 4% of the time, when I DO have to use remote DNS, I use OpenDNS (secured, filtered vs. threats, patched vs. the Kaminsky flaw & DNSSEC secured to its upstream updaters too).
Using sites like this one (a news aggregator) helps me stop "hopping all over" too.

What for? Hosts do the job here
Go faster & safer doing so - I do it for 24 of my favorite sites @ the TOP of my hosts file to avoid DNS redirect poisoning (kaminsky bug, of which 99.999% of ISP DNS are *NOT PATCHED* against mind you) & downed DNS too, resolving sites FASTER, locally from RAM, once cached.

Adblock's inferior to hosts (15++:0 ratio)
You can't prove otherwise here (lmao) & you know it http://news.slashdot.org/comme...
POINT-BY-POINT ANNIHILATING YOU AS USUAL:
Can HostsMan do 64-bit? No.
Can HostsMan function minus sqlite?? No (which is also partially WHY hostsman can't go 64-bit too)
IF sqlite *ever* "goes under"? Hostsman's shot (hate to say it, the author's on the right track as I am vs. browser addons inefficacy, & inefficiency)
---
Nobody recommends *anything* from you either (hahaha) & yes, they have links on this page to my ware (which they also host for me) -> http://hosts-file.net/?s=Downl... AND yes, they recommend my program above other ones like it (with good reason, see above again...).
---
Whitelisting in hosts is as simple as NOT putting entries into hosts to block a site or ad - yes, it's THAT simple to 'whitelist' an entry for hosts.
---
Again: Ads on the same server as a website don't pay - advertisers don't TRUST webmasters alleged clickview counts (I don't blame admen that either actually).
---
Hosts protect globally & themselves are protected by WPF + ACL (if not readonly attributes) - they protect the machine and people using it, all the time, as they ought to.
---
AdBlock's SOLD OUT to NOT DO ITS JOB properly http://techcrunch.com/2013/07/... (hosts aren't).
You want to be inefficient as hell, ala -> https://blog.mozilla.org/nneth... ?

Re:*IF* you don't trust it? Perhaps this...
The current literally BEST in the business (malwarebytes) have seen its code & verified it as safe (they even recommend it as the best of its kind @ the top of their hpHosts site -> http://hosts-file.net/?s=Downl...
That link you provided is a website "powered by Malwarebytes". Nowhere on malwarebytes.org do they actually endorse your software (heck they don't even mention it ! I doubt they even know it exists).
Saying this page at hosts-file.net is an endorsement by Malwarebytes is alike to say that any post on blogger.com is endorsed by Google. Show us where Malwarebytes endorses you *LITERALLY* on malwarebytes.org and then we may start believing what you SHOUT. (and yes, I only half-trust malwarebytes.org, as they are a US-based company, subject to US privacy-invading laws)

IMPOSSIBLE - while my program runs, it is supplemented by UAC + WFP/SFP w/ my app applying read-only to the hosts file (& while it runs resident it locks hosts vs access by other apps but allows IP stack which uses it in kernelmode to access hosts).
Impossible to alter hosts while my app runs.
Virus can't affect my program either - It self-checks itself @ startup & if it alters by even 1 BYTE? She warns the user to reinstall it & shuts down.

Hello!
It`s a false positive. This false will be eliminated as soon as posible.
In a letter dated 13 marca 2012 (16:28:12) was written :
I am attaching each version of it in BOTH compressed (that shows as infested) AND UNCOMPRESSED (that shows as clean, along with itâ(TM)s 64-bit version also) form. See attached âoeForArcaBitAnalysis.rarâ file as it contains the following executable files:
APKHostsFileEngine32.exe (compressed 32-bit model that your antivirus says is infected)
APKHostsFileEngine32.exe.bak (the uncompressed 32-bit model, just rename it when you work on it)
APKHostsFileEngine64.exe (64 bit model)
I compress my executables with mpress.exe (which compresses both 32 bit and 64 bit programs).
The 32 bit and 64 bit models are EXACTLY THE SAME SOURCECODE, line for line, except for resource strings that say âoe32-bitâ instead of âoe64-bitâ, and that is it.
===
More proofs of "false positives" I've overturned forthcoming (Norton/Symantec, & others)...

P.S.=> Couldn't have done it alone imo, & I had EXCELLENT HELP (From the very best in the business per proof from this VERY recent test from a reputable source http://www.av-test.org/en/news... in MalwareBytes' staff, assisting me & they also host AND RECOMMEND my ware as "best of its kind" here http://hosts-file.net/?s=Downl... also, @ the top of their data downloads pages for hosts)... apk

Verifiable proof to the contrary... apk
From a reputable security community source that's a highly esteemed security company in MalwareBytes (via hpHosts).
They ARE literally & currently, THE BEST IN THE BUSINESS in antivirus/antispyware per this very recent test:
http://www.av-test.org/en/news...
BEATING THE COMMERCIAL COMPETITION BY A COUNTRY MILE (as the saying goes)
FACT: They host & RECOMMEND my hosts program as "best of breed" @ the top of their hpHosts page here http://hosts-file.net/?s=Downl... , + they vetted its code & have seen its source, plus host it for me!
Thus?
* YOU FAIL, troll...
APK
P.S.=> WoW... "how LOW can YOU go" is all I can say to the ac scumbag I just replied to - Too bad I 'shot you down' easily, with documented concrete verifiable & UNDENIABLE facts to the contrary, eh?
-
Right! I only post on hosts... apk
Where they apply ON TOPIC (or are brought up 1st otherwise, like by yourself now (& I don't really perceive you as trolling here)).
Yes - THAT has been going extremely well for me, & yes, there *IS* a reason I do it:
Hosts work, & do more for added speed, security, reliability, + more for users of them, AND more efficiently than inferior competitors in MANY browser addons... that's all.
* Guys like Mr. Musk ARE, & have been, inspirational to me in that capacity, as is Linus Torvalds for example (per my post about him today here as well -> http://linux.slashdot.org/comm... )
Why? Well, ok - These are men I truly admire, as they're out doing THE RIGHT THING by others + following through on their visions/dreams in tech, & by being of service to others, their world gets better too!
APK
P.S.=> Things are going VERY well on the hosts project I have in APK Hosts File Engine 9.0++ 32/64-bit http://start64.com/index.php?o...
So much so, that the best in the antivirus/antispyware industry MalwareBytes, via hpHosts, best in the industry as of this recent test -> http://www.av-test.org/en/news... who feature AND RECOMMEND my APK Hosts File Engine 9.0++ 32/64-bit as "best of breed" @ the top of the hpHosts website here http://hosts-file.net/?s=Downl... had to move to AMAZON un-DDoS'able servers AFTER I started "p.r.'ing" my app here on
/. - why?TOO MUCH DEMAND!
Which, for me @ least, is GOOD news - means my app's being used like mad, which only makes sense - it's using what you ALREADY natively have, for better speed, security, reliability & more (vs. "bolting on more layers of complexity" which potentially leads to room for breakdown, if not exploit due to more "moving parts"...).

Verifiable proof to the contrary... apk
From a reputable security community source:
I work DIRECTLY with a highly esteemed security company in MalwareBytes (via hpHosts).
They ARE literally & currently, THE BEST IN THE BUSINESS in antivirus/antispyware per this very recent test:
http://www.av-test.org/en/news...
BEATING THE COMMERCIAL COMPETITION BY A COUNTRY MILE (as the saying goes)
FACT: They host AND recommend my hosts program as "best of breed" @ the top of their hpHosts page here http://hosts-file.net/?s=Downl... , + they vetted its code & have seen its source, plus host it for me!
Thus?
* YOU FAIL, troll...
APK
P.S.=> WoW... "how LOW can YOU go" is all I can say to the ac scumbag I just replied to - Too bad I 'shot you down' easily, with documented concrete verifiable & UNDENIABLE facts to the contrary, eh?
... apk

The "LORD OF HOSTS" = better tepples... apk
Screw Nimrod, see subject-line above, & this quote from https://answers.yahoo.com/ques...
"The image this title brings to mind is of a mighty military commander, one who can at a mere word summon rank upon rank of protective power."
So, what's the "MAGIC WORD" I use?
Hosts!
APK
P.S.=> I do those better than ANYONE ALIVE currently, with a LOT of excellent help from folks in the security community (gotta give credit where it's due, 12 such sites with custom hosts file data that give users of hosts more speed, security, reliability & even anonymity) via APK Hosts File Engine 9.0++ 32/64-bit http://start64.com/index.php?o...
So... how can I make that BOLD statement? Easily:
The BEST IN THE BUSINESS for antivirus/antispyware per this VERY CURRENT TEST from a reputable source here http://www.av-test.org/en/news... proves they're the best with valid tests first of all!
Secondly:
MalwareBytes feature my program & recommend it as "best of breed" on one of their sites (hpHosts - they recommend me as best @ the top center of the page & MalwareBytes "powers" them, see right-hand side top of page) http://hosts-file.net/?s=Downl...
Let's see Khyber achieve the same (never WILL happen - he's a webchump "wannabe coder", nothing more, who talks a BIG GAME, but can't manage to perform the attacks he notes on ME, in MITM (or BGP I noted) - both of which I admitted hosts don't work on (neither do firewalls or antivirus/antispyware though)).
Cripes - I was achieving great things BEFORE that fool Khyber even got outta diapers I'd wager (since 1996 in publications like Windows IT Pro, then Windows NT Magazine, & many others as well as winning finalist placement 2000-2002 @ MS TechEd in its hardest category: SQLServer performance enhancement) !
That little "webchump wannabe programmer" Khyber actually *thinks* he can get the BETTER of me? Guess again!
FACT - I've got a list of 7 things he's already screwed up on vs. myself in this exchange already, lol... apk
-
The best in the security community hosts it
For me, here (& recommends it as the best of its kind) -> http://hosts-file.net/?s=Downl... @ the top of their page, right-hand side? Who's that?? Well, THIS (yes, the best in the business per current tests from a reputable source on that subject matter -> http://www.av-test.org/en/news... )
* You evidently FEAR one of the good benefits hosts allow users of them in added speed, security, reliability, & FAR more, better than ANY *single* browser addon by far in terms of cpu/ram/other types of I/O that they layer on increasing messagepassing overheads slowups too in slower usermode (vs. hosts in kernelmode via the ip stack itself) - you, evidently & by process of elimination, are 1 of the following:
1.) Malware-Maker/Botnet-Herder
2.) Inferior Competitor
3.) Advertiser
4.) Webmaster* Which one? "Inquiring minds, want to know", lol!
Yes, I have narrowed it down to those & am right, aren't I?
(DISCLAIMER: If you people in the bottom 2 (3 & 4 above) wouldn't have been negligent, YOU wouldn't have a problem (dozens of times ads harbored malicious exploit code since 2004 onward especially))
Heck - I even held off releasing my app (was ready in late 2003 in tty/character mode-commandline/"DOS" mode parts & full gui in 2004), out of respect for webmasters, until 2012 & then because of the negligence I note above, I released it:
It works, better than anything else, with less moving parts/complexity-room for breakdown-error, yet doing more in hosts with less - beat that with a stick.
You can't. Nobody ever has - or, will. Fact.

12 reputable security community sources
Maintain hosts data for users of APK Hosts File Engine 9.0++ 32/64-bit program http://start64.com/index.php?o...
E.G. - Malwarebytes does for 1: They're the best in the antivirus/antispyware business currently http://www.av-test.org/en/news...
Malwarebytes also host my program here http://hosts-file.net/?s=Downl... & recommend APK Hosts File Engine 9.0++ 32/64-Bit as the best of its kind also at the top of their hpHosts website page...
(+ of course, the fact you've even admitted hosts files do a lot more than adblock ever can, period).
APK
P.S.=> Lastly - Downmodding my posts OR those of others that knock your off-topic trolling block off isn't too effective vs. my points, is it? Nope. You're helping me!
Additionally:
Is it my fault you're an effete troll that can't backup his b.s.?? No. It's yours.
Bottom-Line: Thanks for making ME look GOOD, & yourself (by way of comparison), well... lol, "not so good"!

Whose site is this (they host my program)?
That hosts my ware for me & recommend it as "the best of its kind" here -> http://hosts-file.net/?s=Downl...
"?"
Clue: THE BEST IN THE ANTIMALWARE INDUSTRY as of the MOST RECENT TESTS OF EFFICACY -> http://www.av-test.org/en/news...
MalwareBytes does & they detect/REMOVE malware of all kinds BETTER THAN ANYONE (freeware that blows away commercial offerings) per that recent test by a respectable site too!
Guess what else?
They RECOMMEND MY WARE APK Hosts File Engine above any & ALL competitors of like type & it's FACT APK Hosts File Engine does more, better + more efficiently, than Adblock does by a LONG shot.
QUESTION: Can "Almost ALL Ads Blocked" do these things (that hosts can)?
1.) Secure you vs. known malicious sites/servers
2.) Secure you vs. downed DNS servers aiding reliability
3.) Secure you vs. DNS redirect poisoned dns servers
4.) Protect you vs. fastflux using botnet attacks and stop their communications back to their C&C servers
5.) Protect you vs. dynamic dns using botnet attacks and stop their communications back to their C&C servers
6.) Protect you vs. domain generation algorithm using botnet attacks and stop their communications back to their C&C servers
7.) Speed you up for websurfing not only by adblocking but also hardcoding favorite sites
8.) Get you past a dnsbl you may not agree with
9.) Keep you off dns request logs
10.) Do all of those things and block ads (better than adblock) more efficiently in cpu cycles and memory usage
11.) Work on ANY webbound application (think stand-alone email programs, for example).
12.) Give you direct, easily notepad/texteditor controlled data for all of the above
13.) Block out trackers
14.) Block spam mails sources
15.) Block phishing mails sourcesAnswer YES or NO to each - that's all!
APK
P.S.=> The ac troll FAILS again vs. "lil' ole' me" like "Almost ALL Ads Blocked" (crippled by default & 'souled-out' defeating its OWN purpose no less -> http://techcrunch.com/2013/07/... )... apk
