Its entirely possible classic VB contains code that Microsoft stole from 3rd parties and is unable to open source.
Fixed that for ya.

One Edge Case - Submission (tv series)
I was curious how the ratings for this new BDSM/Kink show/softcore porn were skewing so I checked out the breakdown on IMDB. It's audience is definitely the Mommy BDSM set who made 50 Shades of Grey a sensation, and features women as leads, with a dose of nudity and sex for the men. I was surprised then and am still now that it's got more ratings in to see women voting it on average lower than men, despite it being their target audience. Of course maybe I should actually get around to watching it and see for myself.
:P -
Re:Pong
I thought that that existed?

Re:Sigh
Take for example 1994. The year Shawshank Redemption came out. IMDB's top rated movie.
This is also the same year Police Academy Mission to Moscow was released. The 7th in a line of movies that got worse with each iteration. A movie they are still trying to get funding for to make an 8th one.

For every good movie in a give year there are 100 that suck so badly they create their own black hole.

Re:"rigorously reviewed" ?!
Well said ! That is precisely why Wikipedia is shit. Ignoring the problem doesn't make it go away. This delusion of censorship just makes them look like a tool. The only sensible approach is to boycott Wikipedia over its retarded policies(*).
A fantastic movie is the 1970 iconic Soldier Blue (starring a young Candice Bergen before she was the famous Murphy Brown). It is available on Amazon Prime (but not Netflix.) The trailer does a great job of showing the brutality that both sides engaged in.
It definitely raises some interesting question: Your land is being threatened by (British and American) foreigners who believed in the delusions of "Might makes Right" and won't stop at anything; they make treaties and go back on their word; they brutally kill and genocide anyone who disagrees with their politics. Seriously, WTF were the Indians supposed to do? Sadly, nothing has changed for the USA.
:-(I guess they say History is written by the Winner(s). It is sad that people have no respect that they feel they must censor the truth of mass genocide the British Empire engaged in.
(*) Note: Another example of Wikipedia's dumb policies is "No Trivia". Hey dumb-fuck-wikipedia-administrators: Just because the information has no value to you, doesn't imply it has no values to others. Oblg.
/sarcasm Oh noes! We might have useful information for (some) people! The Horror!--
In this life, or the next, you WILL answer for the consequences of your relationship with a) your family, and b) God. -

Partisian nonsense.
The facebook contractors were told to block conservative stories (whatever that means these days) and these GOP Senators are making a big deal out of it - to get votes and continue the myth that the media has a Liberal (whatever that means these days) bias.
And of course there is going to be a big chunk of their constituency that will fall for this complete and utter waste of Senate time.
Idiocracy is a documentary you know.

Re:That doesn't surprise me
Well, if everyone else is anything like me, we're all waiting for the deluge of "VR-ready"...
I remember my first CD-ROM drive, a Mitsumi double-speed CD-ROM drive, came with a CD of crappy demo games and applications. One of them was a VRML world. That was in 1995 or there abouts. I've been waiting for "VR-ready" since then. Or maybe since Lawnmower Man in 1992...

Bugs Bunny: You keep outta this! He doesn't have to shoot you now!
Daffy Duck: He does so have to shoot me now!

What Would the Movies Do?In answering this question for books it might be instructive to look at what happens in another artistic field, that of the movies. Although there are some major differences (Movies cost a lot more to make and therefore there aren't so many made each year for a start) the comparison might shed a little light.
With rating movies statistically there are a number of methods:
- Box office takings, such as Box Office Mojo
- DVD and Video sales
- Movie audience figures (when broadcast on television or similar)
- Industry awards, such as the Academy Awards or the Baftas
- Ratings from critics, such as Rotten Tomatoes or Metacritic - Ratings from general users, such as IMDB
- and finally, "Best of" listings voted on by critics or interest groups.
I include the last not because it is really a very good statistical comparison as compared to any of the other methods, but because it is the only one analogous to the sorts of lists being considered in the Worlds Without End rankings.
To get a good statistical ranking for books or movies we need to get a comprehensive set of data that covers all (or most) of the entries, and which applies the same rankings to each. None of the rankings for Movies which I have listed really does that, but some do better than others in some ways at least. For example, ticket and unit sales cover all movies, though they have the problem that the number of people going to movies, and the price they pay per ticket, have increased over time so that the ranking metric isn't the same for all movies. It also has the disadvantage that ticket sales are not necessarily related to how good a movie is. Industry awards can probably be assumed to cover all movies released in a given year and therefore cover the whole population, but have the problem that the award givers may not cover all entries equally, and may be subject to bias. Critical judgement, whether from professional critics or members of the public, also have the problem of coverage - I personally cannot expect to be able to see every movie made, and the ones I do see will be affected by by things like advertising budgets which are not necessarily related to how good the movie actually is.
With books we do have some similar data sets. Figures for number of books printed, or sales on the likes of Amazon can be compiled, though these have the same problem of not being related to quality. I don't know of any compilation sites for professional book critics (anybody?), but there are sites such as Goodreads where members of the public can give their subjective rankings. Industry awards also exist, such as the Hugo or Nebula awards, but these have the disadvantage of being subject to politics (*cough* Puppies vs SJW anyone?). Finally, there are "Best of" lists, such as the ones cited by Worlds Without End.
Books have a problem compared to movies in that far more books get published than movies get made. While a good critic can expect to see all the movies that come out in a year (at least all those released theatrically), reading every book that is published is impossible. This eats into the quality of critical rankings out there, or even into Industry awards. Any "Best of the Year" list can't really hope to be definitive, because a book - especially a ground breaking, iconoclastic new classic - will take time to find a wide audience and be widely recognised.
For my money, I think the likes of Goodreads are probably the best bet as an objective, comprehensive and timely statistical source for

Mostly harmless
Nobody puts kiddie porn on display, the only thing the IWB catches are model/nudist sites that operate legally in their own country because slutty dressed preteens in provocative poses or totally innocent nudes are now considered kiddie porn. Unless they're on Dance Moms or in movies, then they can be on national TV. See for example the songs Electricity or Red for the former and movies like the opening of The Baader Meinhof Complex for the latter. They just don't like it when someone makes a site dedicated to the best of it. The last time you could buy anything remotely like porn openly - if you can call no sex, no masturbation, no spread pussies just provokative nudes porn - was the LS series from Russia around 2001. Sure, there's been a few cases of apparently legitimate companies selling customs and specials to select customers but that has always been on a one-on-one top secret basis. And occasionally the odd underage porn pic shows up on legal sites because nobody can tell 14 from 18 particularly "barely legal" porn uses 18 year olds that often look more like 14yo than actual 14yos. But if you wanted to stop that good luck because teens are sexting and sites that take user content like motherless etc. will always end up with some illegal content but if it looks obviously underage it'll disappear quick. And going after people watching underage porn that look of legal age is a joke for the statistics.
If you want the real deal, it's not found openly. It's not stored openly:
1. Install TorBrowser
2. Disable Javascript (in case of exploits)
3. Go to topic links: http://es2adizg32j3kob5.onion/
4. Go to one of the boards and pick a topic
5. Download the links to encrypted files (over Tor still)
6. Open/decrypt with password from postAnd there's fuck all IWB can do about that. Or the producer's circles, or the private sales or really anywhere else where 99.9% of it is created. What the IWB is doing is like trying to stop Game of Thrones from being pirated by finding all the copies, good luck with that.

Re:Make sense
Well I can reverse this and go with something, Karakaraon Canada Netflix and not US Netflix. I did a bit of Googling and could not find a legitimate place where from to purchase it here in the US. If I went down the list of "Canada" not "US" I'd expect similar results. I cannot personally attest to how prevalent the lack of available to purchase in US not Canada but I can most definitely attest to this problem in relation to region locking of Japanese content.

Re:Okay... so what am I supposed to do about it?
I suggest you download and watch Idiocracy: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt03...
Birth control by smart intelligent people who care about the planet is just a way of handing it over to stupid uneducated people who don't use birth control and don't care about the planet.
If you wouldn't vote for people like that in an election, why on earth would you hand the future of the planet over to them and their descendants?
I haven't watched that movie. However, I would suggest, given your quick summary, that it vastly over-simplifies the problems faced by humanity, blames poor people for being poor, and was written by someone who's understanding of genetics does not include the idea of regression toward the mean.

Avatar message isn't that technology is bad
As someone else pointed out the msg of Avatar isn't anti technology but more opposed to the kind of neofeudal corporatism that we're all headed into, where the nation state operates at the behest and at the interests of the major multi-nationals. It's interesting seeing a similar msg coming through in such as Mr. Robot and Continuum.
