Re:You use Linux?
Do you smoke cocks too?
No, you're thinking of Mac users. Linux users don't get laid.

Re:Disc shaped plastic cartridges?
Yeah, it's weird, like 1/3-1/4 of the DVDs I've bought lately have skipped in my player. That never happened before.
It's reasonable new, Pioneer DV370 bought for disc compatibility but more or less never used, have transported it with discs inside and on the side so maybe that's the problem. Dunno.
The Ice Age 3 disc got a small scratch / line in the plastic though so can't blame that on the player atleast. Don't know if it was lose or not.
In any case at least when you burn your taiyo-yuden discs you know they work and are scratch free until you start using them
..Also I've never had this happen to a cartridge:

Oh come now, this is nothing new, Sega's had this for quite some time now; http://sega.istheshit.net/

In related news...
Mac owners are also 85% more likely to take it in the ass than PC users (Linux users don't count since they don't get laid).

Re:Windows XP Activation made me a Linux user
Personally I appreciate how Blizzard had the sense to remove the look-for-CD-protection in Warcraft III, of course a cd key is still required to play on battle net.
Their stupid requirement of having to use the CD and the risk of getting banned from bnet by patching the game or whatever made me use the original one ending up with big enough scratches on the CDs for being unable to install the game, for one of the discs to validate as a genuine one and finally this:

Re:Maybe NoCD patches are the latest in the indust
But Blizzard doesn't replace them do they? Afaik they ask for money for a replacement disk
:(This is my TFT-CD:
http://cdcrack.istheshit.net/But I've borrowed a friends instead...
(On a mac ROC CD when you played TFT wasn't enough either, it's in Windows, fucked up because I hate looking for the CD and I never used NoCD crack once I had the original because I didn't wanted to risk getting banned from bnet.)And no, I have no idea why they bother to check for the CD, it will be broken anyway so why bother about it?

Re:Several Suggestions
Seeing as these are CS students, I believe this would make a rather amusing and accurate poster.

Re:A picture says more than a thousand words...http://sales.istheshit.net/ Here is one that applies to Slashdot posters.

Re:Hey I have no problem to by themare you too much of a cheap fag to afford windows or are you just too dumb to use it? no, don't tell me, you're one of those stupid nancy boys who thinks that linux or apple is better because of some shit that rolls around inside your head that you call a brain?
you're probably just a fag anyway. you belong to the linux fags. I think you're confused. Mac users are fags. Linux users can't get laid. -
Re:Punishing your PAYING customers
I for sure hate to have to look around for my Warcraft 3 CD when I want to play. Even more so that I have to use the TFT one in OS X althought it doesn't matter which one in Windows since I have two ROC CDs.
I hate that I broke the original TFT CD by droping it (see http://cdcrack.istheshit.net/), kind of suck if you can't download it.
Annoying to require a DVD-drive / to actually have a disk in it / extra noise from spinning.
Thought in this case actually requiring a key makes pirates banned from bnet which is a good thing, easier to ban cheaters aswell. So I'm all for the key but not useless cd copy protection. -
If you put it that way...
...then you should check this!
-
Well...
Slashdotters don't have to deal with this. The only way they can get a girl is to pay by the hour. I mean, would you answer this guy's personal?

Re:Makes sense on a dozen levels
I don't think it'd be a successful Apple product. Using Linux prevents you from getting laid. Mac users love their buttsex far too much

The raid on PRQ
The police really went overboard this time, not only did they take the TPB and Piratbyrån servers, they basically took everything else too. I have some friends whose PRQ (TPB's ISP) services dont work anymore.
From http://www.istheshit.net/: It has been confirmed by our hosting company that the police took our server in the raid, we hope the server doesn't get molested by the police. FYI: istheshit.net isn't illegal in any way, the police removed ALL servers found in the same building as The Pirate Bay. There's some angry co-location customers right now, including us. -

maybe it should be added that http://istheshit.net/ is hosted at the same place, so their website is also down

Re:The End of IE
IE is pathetically bad on platforms not running Microsoft's Windows Operating System (or certain versions of MacOS).
IE for the Mac is pretty awful too. It won't even render MSN correctly. :-)
Yes, that is the latest version from Microsoft. Which is pretty old, since Microsoft doesn't support IE on Mac any more due to all the competition. -
