Old news!
Bah! This has already been done, and THIS verson HAS Zombies: http://kevan.org/proce55ing/zombies/

Have they seen the Zombie Simulator?
There's already a zombie simulator. Save some research dollars and use that!

Re:Zombie Apocalypse
Why don't you try this long established model.
I remember the zombie infection simulation from years and years ago.
Pretty slick flash animation, as I recall. -
Re:Yes but can it model...
I think you might find this interesting, if you haven't seen it before. It's a cool little zombie infection simulation. Not complex, but has some cool ideas, such as having non-panicked people becoming panicked when they see another human who is panicked.

Real Life Zombie Problem
Wow. First, Shawn of the Dead was on this weekend. Then this story comes on. It's good they are building a more advanced way of modeling this, the previous way was rather simple.
Not my program, I found it years ago. There is a port of the 3D version on my site that I updated to run on OS X.

Re:Yes but can it model...
Apparently, this can. (Linked in TFA)
-
But will it have
But will it have a cool visual display that I can't stop staring at like the Zomie Infection Simulator?
-
Re:and only one that matters
Oh, I thought you said zombie link.

Re:How is this news?
WOW! It's not like they took over the BBC site and used it.
No, of course not. I'm the one who did that.
Click here to read an interesting BBC story about it -
These's only one kind of game needed
With all this programming power, and graphics and sound all sorted out, what's needed is a game that makes full use of the processing power needed for AI.
I present to the next-gen game genre:- The Too-many-things-on-the-screen-requiring-calculatio n genre
TMTOTSRC games for short
So what we need are next-gen versions of

and an updated version of...

Re:Metaboo game
Well, here's a description of the metaboo game:
http://kevan.org/games/metaboo.html
So I guess he's just implemented that via the telephone... -
It is worse than we thought !
This zombie problem is worse than we thought! Check out the Zombie Infection Simulation!

If you're really into zombies . . .
There is an interesting java applet that simulates zombies infecting a city of panicking people.

Re:Digital TV...slow down?
Slow down??? That would assume that people are adopting digital tv in the first place. In fact survey's have shown that digital tv is catching on at a snail's pace. The reason? The cost and the benefit. In most areas (mine included) the digital cable is extremely expensive (about 75% more than regular cable), and what does it give me? Slightly better picture quality? Really, I'd be better to invest my money in a better TV set than digital cable, especially for the small ammounts of TV I watch (firefly, NBC news, CSI).
Not to mention that Digital Cable is more expensive (at least in my neighborhood) than the dish. Plus the dish offers a slightly better option given it has more channels for people who care about those things.
Personally I doubt that digital tv in general will be very slow to catch on. -
Re:Red Hat Competition
Why will SuSE offer their own distro? Simple, spread your eggs to multiple baskets, and you're more likely to sell a few. I am personally a SuSE loyalist (i.e. I only use their distro), and doubt I would use United Linux even though they have a hand in it.
You can check out a list of reasons why SuSE will probably continue to make their own distro even with United Linux at my friends site. He has some links to the different distro's and their stance on such an idea. -
Re:Red Hat Competition
Well United Linux has gotten quite a bit of hype, a friend of mine has been keeping track of some of their add campaigns at his homepage (he is a big fan of the idea, and like me detests Red Hat). I have a question though, if SuSE is involved (I think they are), will United Linux have the SuSE installer Yast? If so I think it will blow Red Hat out of the water, considering how much the Red Hat installer sucks (especially for inexperienced users).
