Tarzana, California (AP) -- The Gay Nigger Association of America (GNAA) is celebrating 10 years of trolling Slashdot (as well as setting up shock sites and vandalizing Wikipedo) and we would like YOU to help us celebrate! The third WTC building on 911 collapsed without ANYTHING touching it. It just collapsed straight down as if it had been demolished. They even abandoned it first. It was UNDAMAGED until it collapsed.

It's always interesting to see how posters on Slashdot are reinventing the wheel in environmental issues. For example, municipal waste is treated in an anaerobic bioreactor in ASJ Stormossen waste treatment plant in Mustasaari, Finland. Landfill biogas is also collected. A 1998 report.

A major problem with eco-friendly technology is the relatively undeveloped state of most of the world. Processes like these are novelty in America and practically unheard of in Russia, for example, even if they are becoming commonplace in some areas in Europe. Most of the world's population just dumps the waste somewhere.

Of the hundreds of comments attached to this story, yours is by far the most insightful and informative. I disagree with your polite "none very impressive", and think you're wrong about "none in global warming" and "unqualified scientist". That panel is composed of professional Greenhouse deniers. They are "impressive" and "qualified" to testify before a Canadian fake "Conservative" government that's hired by polluters to protect Canada's giant fossil fuel exports to the US (our #1 supplier). And probably dreams of a "warm Canada" their vast real estate holdings can finally cash in on as people "migrate" from uninhabitable regions to the south, while finally getting a year-round passage between East and West hemispheres across the Arctic.

Just look at their actual resumes, of course not quoted by "Canada's Fastest Growing Independent News Source", probably also funded by the Canadian Greenhouse industry and their global Murdoch partners.

Tim Patterson is a geologist, not a climate scientist - exactly the kind of scientist the BS article excludes to fake its conclusion that most Greenhouse scientists aren't qualified.
Boris Winterhalter is also a geologist, not a climatologist.
Geologists mostly work for the oil business, which is where most of the money for the entire science comes from, their peers who review, their "next gig pool".

Bob Carter doesn't even rate a page at his tiny Australian department where he's just an "Adjunct" professor.
Timothy Ball's "EnviroTruth" org is a division of the National Center for Public Policy Research, an front for Exxon Greenhouse denial propaganda and other Vast RightWing Conspiracy players.

These people are professional Greenhouse deniers. That Canadian panel and its Canadian tabloid (an obvious rightwing rag, just looking at its front page) are cheap fronts for the polluters responsible for the Greenhouse. They're not even trying to hide it more than a couple of googles and clicks deep, they hate us so much. And judging from the hundreds of posts in this story falling for it, we are that stupid.

1. Not that I doubt the Pentagon was hit by an aircraft, but it is documented fact that several security camera tapes were confiscated after the crash. Release them in their entirety.

2. Explain to me why standard operating procedures for NORAD that would normally require specific orders to disregard, were disregarded that day.

3. Explain to me how WTC-7 came to be the only steel-framed structure in recorded history to suffer a complete collapse as a result of fire alone. (FEMA's own report offers an elaborate theory which they say has a "low probability of occurance")

4. In light of the signifigance (particularly to insurers, architechts, engineers) of WTC-7's collapse-due-to-fire, why were the building remains sold to China for scrap before they could be fully analyzed?

The building had been evacuated hours before the collapse, it was not necessary for rescue crews. This is a major event in the building industry: if steel structures can collapse from fire alone, insurance rates would have to be adjusted, architects would have to reconsider the design of thousands of structures.

5. If Flight 93 was destroyed by being crashed (intentionally or accidentally) into a field in Shanksville, PA, why did it leave a debris field over 8+ miles?

To those who are going to say that marketers tell the truth about products to people who don't know the truth...fuck that. That was true in 1955, and was called advertising. It's not true in 2005, and it's called marketing. I don't think that was true even in 1955. Snake oil salesmen have a longer history, and plenty of quack cures were touted by Madison Avenue long before that.

The Persistent Identification Element is just another example of the lengths marketing scum will go to clandestinely as possible track your movements and sell your data to anyone with a check book. Not that most users shouldn't realize by now that any plugin is likely to be some form of tracking/spyware. For those of you unfortunate enough to be trapped on IE, Flash Disable is a handy tool, its just a pretty front end to disabling & enabling the registry key for flash - one less icon that doing it with importing reg keys manually: Handy Reg Keys Way, both of them require a browser restart to take effect though. Of course, aside from flash being really annoying - its more effective to get to the root of the security problem itself with the security settings panel for Macromedia Flash Player, but you have to flip through several different settings to actually disable them and delete existing ones (under "allow websites to store information how much information on your computer"): Flash Settings Manager. Or perhaps you would like the more permanent fix of: Uninstalling Flash Player Entirely For those using Mozilla and Firefox, you likely already have Flashblock installed, but you should still check out the security settings for Flash.

Biogas (which is mainly methane) is used in Finland. The Finnish Biogas Association has some reports and links.

There was a similar case (turn JavaScript off when visiting the page)) in Finland a couple of months ago. The police ministry had ordered a Finnish webmaster to remove the link to their website. There was quite a lot of talk about that in newsgroups and even in the television.

What else? It has a clever power-saving mode which spins up the disk, reads a whole track into memory, and powers down the disk immediately. That means 5 mins anti-shock (or was it 10? can't remember) and 10 hours listening per Li-Ion battery. Support is nothing less than fantastic, with new firmwares containing features such as minesweeper :-) And I can upload via USB faster than I can rip CDs, so who cares about FireWire?

This is the hacker's choice of MP3 jukebox. It's a no-brainer.

However one format that no-one's mentioned yet are the grand old tracking systems that originally started life on the Amiga. The latest formats (XM, IT) are astonishingly complex and you can do things in them that you've got no hope of with MIDI; and because each file is self-contained, complete with samples, the sound is completely platform independent. More software than you might think supports them thanks to the amazing Mikmod player library (XMMS and WinAmp will both play nearly all tracker files invisibly to the user). There's some decent music out there, too... alas, I don't have the bandwidth to export my monster MOD file collection, but people like Acumen, Warder and Rapture. Try Rapture's Aurora Borealis as a quick and rather impressive demonstration of what you can do with the format.

And there's lots of tracking software for Linux, too.
