Re:Its possible to close a paypal account?
Well, sorry the GP didn't use some fancy URL tweaker to make it look like a happy prancing clown that'll wink at you and tell jokes while he reads off the contents of the linked page.
That's a really fucking weird way to describe HTML.

DDoS
Sounds like a DDoS attack to me. These troublemakers are disrupting the daily business activities of critical public infrastructure and/or private business.

Re:FSBO: +1 POST
I'm not familiar with this concept of "liking" something...I take it this is something done on those social network sites like FB and twitter?
It has something to do with that new inner-web thingy. Maybe this will help. You can search for information these days, too.

This is why my visits to
/. have gone from multiple times per day to maybe once a week.An anonymous reader?@! For reals?
And then this anonhole writes: > The decision to release OS10.7, or Lion, for download only is hardly going to endear Apple to IT managers who need to conserve network resources.
Oh, because it's not like you can burn disk image onto physical media or anything like that.
Not that IT professionals are that capable anyway.
And writes this: > Most of all, IT departments would want to see the Mac OS offering full support for virtualization, on the desktop and on the server.
And this is utter FUD as well. It's well known the EULA explicitly allows this.
This mouth breathing OP should be deleted.

Still going strong, too. Comments as recent as a week ago. Even with the readwriteweb logo and the part of the article in bold that tells them what just happened, people still ignore it all and go down to the little white box and type stupid things in.
Alternatively, you can just type "facebook users are idiots" in google and get blog posts about the blog post that started it all and many contain screenshots of some of the dumber comments.

Re:This tweet (FTFA) shows how screwed up it is.
I know they have a patent on PageRank, but that's a different matter.
IANAL, but I suspect that google has more than one patent. The fact that you know that they have one patent has no relation on another patent they might have.
Do you have a link that talks about a patent for the Google home page?

Re:Why I switched to macbook pro...
4. I don't need to make sure that an antivirus program is installed before I so much as plug in the ethernet cable. To my knowledge there is not one single drive-by (ie: not social engineering) exploit that can p0wn my system by doing nothing more than visiting a web page.

First result seems interesting. I might consider using antivirus software if I were you.

Re:You really have no idea
For another thing, you've forgotten that people in this country DIED for the 40 hour work week, and I don't mean guys in trenches, I mean union strikers beaten to death by (privately hired) jackboot thugs.
Not to say that unions are bad, because I believe in unionization, or to say that people did not die because of their union affiliation, but that is not why we have 40 hour work weeks. We have 40 hour work weeks, and 5 day work weeks, because of information from Henry Ford. Ford discovered that the affectiveness of employees was achieved at a peak number of hours and with certain amounts of down time in between. The numbers Ford discovered where not exactly 40 hours or 5 day out of seven, but based on our 24 hour day and the 7 day week, it was a very close approximation to have a 40 hour/5 day work week. Ultimately we have a 40 hour work week because that is how you can get the most work out of a person.
In case you can't look it up yourself.
It's also been shown that knowledge workers, those that aren't repetitive manual labor, actual start to cost the company more after a certain number of hours due to increased number of mistakes.

Re:Killed by the mp3 player
Today I have an iPod touch with a built-in mic, which is plenty adequate for recording those bits of audio in the real world that I want to hang onto. However, the iPod doesn't have a mic input, so I can't stick in a better mic and record something at a higher quality.

Re:LFS
Use LFS, that will teach you!
On a serious note, the Linux distribution choosers/selectors out there can answer your and similar questions.
Actually, I find the answers here in the comments to this askslashdot question more informative than what the linux distro chooser that was the first search result yielded from that lesson on googling gave. (In fact, for me, that distro chooser should have given the answer debian unstable and debian testing, but it didn't ask quite all the right questions (and/or it's logic didn't fit my philosophy.))
I'd advise the op to maybe try your funny link out for fun, but to rather read the comments here for more thorough information.

Re:Is XCode included in the download?
I'm not concerned about size. It says Lion will *only* be for digital downloads. Say your HD died and you replaced it and you don't have a working OS X disc, how do you access the internet to download this?
Hopefully, you've taken the concept of 'backup' to heart. It turns out to be relatively simple to create a more traditional installation environment for 10.7.

Re:"Propellors"?
FYI - a 'turboprop' engine is basically a jet engine (or "gas turbine") powering a propeller; the turbine powerplant is more efficient, more mechanically reliable, and has longer TBO's (time between overhaul; 3-5K hours vs 1-2K) than a reciprocating engine. These are just some of the reasons that turboprops are extremely commonly used as working, commercial aircraft, hauling passengers *and* freight, whether employed by large airlines, regionals, freight co's, and/or small independent operators (think bush pilot, air taxi, etc...). Planes like the Cessna Caravan are common, although I get a hoot out of the ex-DC-3 Basler Turbo-67 Turboprops are also quite commonly used on high-end civil and business aircraft, like Pilatus and Piaggio Avanti.

Come on, seriously? http://lmgtfy.com/?q=internet+porn+rape The Salon article just happened to be the first Google link. There are plenty of others - most by actual scientists - that came to the same conclusion. Steven Landsburg was just reporting on the studies.

Re:As an American Conservative...
1. A five year old should not have $60 with which to buy a video game.
Ever heard of Grandma? And if a 5-yr old could never buy a game without a parent there to pay for it, what is the harm in this law?2. A five year old should not be playing video games with no parental supervision.
Agreed. But if a parent won't get off his/her ass to go buy the game, what makes you think that hey will bother supervising? Kids with parents who won't bother to even look at the games their kids are buying are exactly the kids that shouldn't be playing them!3. A five year old should not have access to a video game console without any parental controls
See #24. A five year old would ALREADY BE UNABLE TO PURCHASE A VIOLENT VIDEO GAME because of the rating system already in place and the fact that stores abide by this policy.
Do all stores have this policy? Same for movie theaters, right? When I was 13, I rode my bike to a video store (a new idea at the time) and rented Terminator (the very first one) on Betamax and took it home and watched it. My dad knew what I was doing and was OK with it, but the store clerk never asked or cared. Terminator was rated R, by the way.It is clear that you don't understand the simple fact that the government limiting speech is a violation of the constitution.
Speech comes out of your mouth. It could be stretched to say that it is any kind of self expression. Purchasing a video game is not speech. Read my previous example where I said that if buying a video game is speech, why is a naked PETA protest NOT speech? Oh
,wait! It is... unless you are a minor. So, either you agree that minors have free speech rights, meaning they can use their bodies as a tool for expression, of you have to admit that minors are not afforded the same Constitutional protections as adults. Also see my example where a government employee is allowed to tell kids not to speak. How is that NOT a violation of free speech. You have also made it clear that your conservative values include expansion of government powers to review and limit the sale of video games.
Google "States Rights"
I assume that you want to pay for that rating agency with your taxes.
I don't live in California and don't care what they do.
You don't know what you're talking about, you don't know what a conservative is...

Re:Fortunately they are easy to identify,
I seriously doubt that there are millions of American citizens of voting age who do not have IDs.
You are right, I should have said "tens of millions". It always amazes me the number of people who argue from a platform of ignorance, usually flaunting it like you did when the first link from the first search I did gave a documented number: http://lmgtfy.com/?q=number+of+americans+without+proof+of+ids&l=1> (PDF warning).
The greater value is that it improves public confidence in the system.
I guess I'm broken. I'd rather address real problems than perceived ones.

2. A vehicle that runs on rails, esp. a railroad car. Here's one for you: http://lmgtfy.com/?q=tricycle

Yes, they disclosed for a part their methods, and then we saw the leaked Pascal source code having some fudge factor written by hand, with no way to know where it came from.

That was hard wasn't it.
The problem the GP had is they are still under the assumption that all slashdot users have a clue, while that was true many years ago, you clearly prove that it is no longer the case as you could have resolved the issue in a few seconds if you actually had a clue.

:D[Okay, I admit this is slightly mean fun. And to be sure, responses that just say "you clearly are in way over your head -- go hire a lawyer/expert/whatever" are far less helpful than ones that say "you may need to hire an expert... they'll probably tell you to do X or Y based on your Z". But while I think the original poster was asking a valid question that's not trivially answered by google, finding the difference between a hash and encryption isn't so hard to find.]
