Welp, there is Unsafe Search. That just uses Google though. And it doesn't seem to work at the moment.

I bet there's loads of people who'd pay for an *unsafe* search option.

Actually, what you want has already been done, to a certain extent. Enter Monzy's "Unsafe Search".

It works by submitting your query to Google twice: once as a regular query, and once with Google's "SafeSearch" enabled. It then subtracts all of the "SafeSearch" results from the regular query, leaving you with only the hits that Google deems "unsafe." Brilliant!

A similar interface was published at the CHI 2003 conference (see: http://www.monzy.org/urinecontrol/). I'm pretty sure it was published as part of "ALT CHI", which always has many strange human-computer interfacces including 'bed' interfaces for remote presence in bed, and things like EUI's or "Edible User Interfaces" (see the EUI proposal by the same researcher on the above website).

This search page will search for unsafe pages using that method, though I have yet to find^H^H^H^H hear of one that will do the same for images.

I agree with you that knowing how to restrict your searches is a very good thing, however since google now has a blog search it should be possible to run two parallel searches for the same terms and then exclude the blog hits that match the google hits. Unsafe Search does something like this with google's safe search so I would assume something similar could be made using their blog search. But, since I don't have the programming knowledge to make such a thing I will leave that to another enterprising slashdotter.
